UKR says - Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility requires HDD

8bit

Knows the Score
I can't see this mentioned elsewhere, and it's probably a given for most but, hey there aren't enough XBox 360 threads going on right now.

Also, girls in bikinis.

MOre confusing info, I heard yesterday that you could have BC with the memory card. OK, it's time for M$ to have a formal PR or something. At this point they may need to roll out a damn 'infomerrcial'. :D

Why does that chart say a wireless controller is included in both core and premium packages? Damn all this confusion.

I pity anyone who buys the Retard Pack.
The minute any salesperson mentions that "you can play old Xbox games with the Hard Drive" should instantly wake up a potential retard. Unless they dont care about that of course.

Well, that chart doesn't answer your question as it just says "optional." Considering the Retard Pack comes with neither a HDD nor a Memory Card it could be referencing either one of those.

Hey let's try loading H:CE without the cache partition!

btw: wow, you can't even get a chrome disc tray with the retard pack :lol

By the way those eq babes, if any of you think girls who play eq or any MMO look like that you are nuts. I can see possibly finding 1 or maybe, maybe 2 girls that look like that in an MMO, but a whole contest full? Bull honkey.

MMO girls look like this ->

But i digress, the retard pack is going to be for parents who don't know better and 15 year olds who work their papaer route for 3 weeks to afford the console and 1 game.

It will be interesting how retailers deal with this.

There are still alot of current (and up and coming?) xbox 1 games out there, if Microsoft are phazing out the xbox without any standard bc on the 360, then that will kill sales of xbox games.

Actually, it does answer it. You have to read the fine print. There is an asterisk beside "Play Original Xbox Games." If you look down you'll see this:

*Requires Hard Drive

We still don't even know just how compatible X360 will be with Xbox1. No official compatibility list has been released, we don't know if we should expect 95%+ compatibility out of the box or if we should just expect Halo to work with other games being added via Live updates or what.

Which is another problem, if you need to update the Xbox1 compatibility via Live patches, what happens to X360 owners without a broadband connection?

Its kind of funny that you will need a HD for backwards compatibility.

Its like we have gone back to the future.

I guess its something Sony will not have to worry about.

they get updates on discs. Pop in a new game and it just says "Eh! we need to update your console!" just like on xbox.

Thats where i heard a couple of days ago on GAF, cant remember which thread though. If thats the case then im certainly not buying an Xbox360, BC was one of the main attractions for me, but if Im gonna havwe to pay $399 just for a couple of Xbox and Xbox360 games, then screw you MS

So pay 149 for Xbox and 299 for the core pack?

It doesn't sound like you had big plans to buy tree sitty in the first place. Wait for some price drops.

Conversation between two junior high kids the day after Christmas break:

Kid 1: So, you got the retard pack for Christmas too?
Kid 2: Yeah, I'm handipacked too.

Really? I don't know how I missed that bit of news. Will that severely limit the amount of compatibility?
severely? probably not.. but it might be too much to expect them to get everything right on the first try..

Not entirely software emulation I think.
there were rumors that the cell might be mips based but not sure if that ever panned out. anyhow theres a whole lotta other chips in the ps2 that ps3 would need to emulate..

So there is no way to get the better pack and get an Xbox360 without the chrome? I'm not too sold on the chrome just yet .I'll have to see it before I make a final decision but I would like the option.

Is it just my imagination, or has Izzy been replaced by an eliza AI program, who can only reply with variations on an affirmative statement?

No partial hardware means partial hardware. That's it.

:lol Looks like MS screwed up, it says the retard pack comes with a wireless and wired controller.

Not even that mistake can keep the retard pack from looking like the choice of retards.

If PS1 is emulated, it would be cool it enhance the visuals. Those games really needs it anyway.
Just a higher res and some perspective correcting ( paired with the filtering on textures that the PS2 was already doing )

GS emulation mode in RSX, and an EE without IOP/SPU in the southbridge, would be my educated guess. IOP/SPU being emulated in software is believable, but software emulation of the EE would be scary, as some people do nasty lockstep timing tricks with VU0.

Oh, flatter me, and I may not believe you. Criticize me, and I may not like you.

:)

:)

I think I'll be keeping my xbox for XBMC anyway, but for games, using BC or not will depend on how they look. If X360 bumps them all up to 720p, then I might try it. But I'd prefer to use my save games, so I may not use BC at all.

Does maxdrive let you copy 'protected' saves as well?
