TLR Rose is a good character, everyone was saying she sucked, BUT Luffy played out of his mind tho and it's well earned
(I'm shit at fighting games/the Rose matchup so I have no idea what I'm talking about lol, and I play Sakura so it's a bit different than against traditional shotos like Ryu. I just don't think she's as weak as people were playing her up to be in the EVO thread. I laughed when Rose backdashed out of Gackt's cr.LP st.HP OS.)

thinking about getting into street fighter again, with IV arcade (perhaps Ultra later). Haven't played a street fighter since SF2 on my SNES
How much of a handicap is it playing on a regular controller? Thinking about getting an arcade stick, but damn those things are expensice :/

I noticed luffy's ps1 controller and have seen nuckledu's dual shock 2, what adapters are they using? the last time i looked at these kind of pad adapters they required having a wired 360 controller also

You should be doing the hadouken as the crouching hard punch is hitting, rather than waiting for the animation to end, to "cancel" it into the hadouken.
For the last part of that combo, the focus attack, just tap and let go of medium punch and medium kick quickly as the hadouken is coming out. I usually like to practice the final part of trials over and over so I don't fail when I reach that part when attempting the full combo.
I'm starting to wish Luffy had lost much earlier, so we wouldn't be getting all of these silly complaints about Rose being OP and needing nerfs. Two players (I think) in the top 32 used Rose. The winner played the tourney of his life with a character he's been maining since Vanilla, and some close calls. There were a bunch of characters that could have won this thing. I think it's fair to say no one had easy sailing. The top 16 or even 32 were stacked with killers. I'd like to see a breakdown, but it looks like this update did what Capcom intended, making more characters viable. With there still being one more patch for tweaking, I sure hope they don't do any character nerfs, and just give some buffs to the characters that were obviously weakened or ignored.

LMAO Im loving all of the Rose hate. Its ridiculous. Luffy played out of his goddamn mind thats why he won. His execution was damn near flawless but on top of that he got away with a ton of shit (yolo drills into super...who does that?). He's been puttin in a TON of work with her since Vanilla. I know since we used to train online together all the damn time.

I just watched the Evo Finals. Rose vs Sagat makes for a pretty dull fight.
I enjoyed everything I was seeing from him. Actually winning with a character people would never normally bet on is a nice change of pace. I respect the play, just as I'd respect some fool somehow being able to win EVO with Blanka or something. Still hate the char overall.
Gonna be fun using Rose now, LOL.
Dan is too OP and needs to be banned, stat!

I knew that! Ixion is my favourite. I was pretty disappointed to see most of his Ultra replays were Guile instead of Dan. Looks like he's picked Dan up again though, from the leaderboards.

Outside of snakeyes I wanted luffy to take it, just like snakeyes is the best gief, luffy is the best rose in the world, props to these two guys. It really isn't the character, rather it's the person who plays it, I have never seen a rose played so well.
Absolutely, but people will be vocal regardless just because they dislike the character whose design is to annoy, and I would hate it if Capcom listens to them and put in any nerfs. That scares me.

Louffy played extremely solidly and his character is now viable enough to reward him for it. Anyone who thinks it was matchups might need to look at him defeating two of the best Akumas in the world. If you think Akuma is not a bad matchup for Rose....then we have a different concept of "matchup".
I play Rose sometimes, because she is good at countering XBL monsters, especially the shotos. Hence she generates a lot of salt.

Try turning input display on (You can do that in trial mode, right?). Do the crouching hard punch then roll the direction from down to forward and press punch again. If you fail, check what the inputs say. Make sure you're pressing punch after forward.
For a long time, particularly when I switched to stick, I was pressing the buttons a little earlier than needed. The game is quite generous if your timing is a bit later.

Rose is an honest character that loses badly to vortex and pressure characters. Luffy had good matchups and has also worked his ass off with the character. There is nothing about her that needs further nerfing.

Quick controller question, I used to use my HAP 3 stick for fighting games but now have a projector setup that requires a wireless controller to work. Would you guys recommend the 6 button game pads that were put out for SF4 or are there any wireless fightsticks you would recommend?

Agreed, would people have said Dudley needed nerfs if smug won or if snakeyes won? All these players play characters which are not considered top tier, so what's the problem? Should they make cammy, fei. akuma more top tier to combat those mid tier characters? In the end, we should just conclude that these players luffy, snakeyes and smug work really hard with their characters. Rose, Dudley and Zangief all have tough matchups and these guys put up a very good show against those matchups.

This always happens, and then everyone either gets bored of the character (Rose is simply not my style at all) or they just don't want to put the effort in and they stop. It happens every. single. EVO. The character forum on SRK blows up and you see a ton of them online for a few weeks, then it's back to normal.
Pretty much. Those bandwagoners will learn fast that its nowhere near as easy as Luffy made it look lol.
