Ultra Street Fighter IV |OT| What is old is new once again

I think I'll settle for Elena, despite her difficulty, since I used to play her in 3S.

Regarding 3S characters in SF4, Makoto has to be the most stripped down conversion ever. Nothing of the 3S powerhouse, plus additional execution requirements and slow speed, Liked to play her in 3S, here not so much.

Not that Elena is any better but at least she's got mobility.

but the SF4 hitbox system is a mess. I tried to beat Seth on Hardest mode with Elena to no avail. Thought of giving up. Then I remembered someone's advice of picking Zangief and doing Lariat or 360p motions. The CPU AI would fall for this. Beat Seth on first effort without sweat. A cold shudder went down my spine as to what was waiting Elena online...
I dunno man....Makoto is pretty damn good in my opinion. That fukiage buff scares the shit out of me.
 
Has anyone here experience with costume modding (pc version)?

I found this one costume for Chun-li here, but I'm having trouble getting it to work correctly.
All parts of the costume are displayed fine, but there is some almost invisible thing seemingly attached to her arms which moves whenever her arms move.
(You can see "it" in this screenshot, distorting the lifebar.)

I tried taking a look at the files in a modelviewer, but I couldn't find anything wrong with them. I also don't know if this problem was always there or if it's a recent incompatibility with AE/Ultra.

Anyone got any ideas what to do?

Shoryuken has a thread for PC modding. You might have to ask a few times but it's pretty likely someone there will know.

I weep for you

Whole game is broken. 90% of effort goes into surpassing those game design flaws, than actually enjoying the game. It is just that some characters are more broken than others. Elena not that much, yet. Against grapplers she struggles

Having an issue with cr. jab - st. rh xx EX MGB with Dudley, his duck comes out sometimes due to negative edge. Any way to stop it besides holding down roundhouse? I mean, I could easily get used to holding roundhouse but I'm wondering if double-tapping PPP will do anything?

I think you're just inputting the motion too quickly or holding down RH too long.

Why is it so much harder to cancel certain normals into a special when it's 3 or 4 hits into a combo? Like it's nothing to do cr.lk xx LP Hayate with Makoto, but when I try to do cr.lp ->cr.lp-> cr.lk xx LP Hayate, the timing is super strict all of a sudden. I remember having this same problem with other characters as well, so I don't think it's something specific to Makoto.

You might be "chaining" the lks instead of "linking". This comes up with combos with consecutive light attacks most of the time because they chain easily for most chars. If you chain several lights for example, it's easy to get the lights to combo but they can't be canceled into a special move. you have to link the very last light to get a cancel. Basically do what Blackule said,

I remember when I had that problem with doing many jabs into Rekka's with Fei.

How I learned how to do it was to do a slight dribble pause on the last normal and let that feel like its comboing from itself.

If I ever knew how to play Dudley, I don't know now. His footsies are so unnatural. Not so much footsies as punching your opponent in the nose until you get within f.mk/ throw range. Nobody in this game really feels all that exciting to me, though. I just sort of play Ryu now, though maybe I could learn Oni.

Ricky Ortiz all the way. One of my favorite players. Hopefully he doesn't come across SnakeEyez again, and if he does then I hope he uses Rolento this time. And I hope Justin has been working on his Elena. I'd like to see both players put in some work.

Youre doing the motion too soon after. I have negative edge issues with some characters in this game due to the damn shortcuts but that Dudley combo has never given me an issue. Just tap HK quickly and dont hold it or do the motion later.

Knuckledu is also in, so you can throw in Guile and Decapre. Then we got one more spot for whoever wins Dreamhack. As for who I like, obviously I'm going with Daigo because I've always been a fan of his and he plays my character so more reason to root for him. And since this is prep time Daigo, I think he'll be even more dangerous.
