The entire game does come down to 4 - 6 archetypes, with many important sub-types within them, I think. Hey, and just to make sure we do keep blaming Capcom for something, they already had Zero mostly designed and animated for TVC so Mega Man lost out to LOL PORT.

More likely that Zero is very likely the most popular Rock character period including all the Rock variants.

Plus yes it doens't hurt that Zero was in TvC.

The problem with mashable hypers is that it's not obvious WHEN to mash without outside information, and it's also very annoying to Mash when you're planning to DHC into another hyper.

I had not thought about how it would affect DHC'ing, now I dislike the mechanic even more.

You can't be serious if you think MM is like Strange. MMX has more potential than numerous other characters out there in terms of movelist and mechanics. Who's the other "swiss army selectable gadget user" in the game? I want a Dante version of a zoning character in MVC3. Fuckin 40+ specials.

Tron has more fans than MM? Is this a joke? Tron gets played in MVC2 because she is much higher than MM in tiers list and her assist was broken (did as much damage as a hyper).

And yeah I would take Tron over Roll and Servbot.

Dude could literally have half Dante's total number of specials and still be fucking beast. Need I say more?

Meanwhile, personally, I'm terribly biased even though I don't go to extreme lengths like other MM-heads myself. If I had my way with rosters, MM would be tied with RE & SF in number of reps, if only because they all offer something unique and have tons of franchise to represent in between themselves. X & Zero have ties to the earliest parts of the series between hints and outright canon ideas but are also Marvel enough to be included without issue (especially X vs. Classic with his superior mobility), Bass.EXE (Repping the Battle Network and "cyber" series all together) & Tron (Legends) would all cover the best elements while being unique and of course MAHVEL enough in the roster.

Gene is really a wonder kid though and for good reason. God Hand is just too stupidly entertaining to not warrant a mention for a spot in this game. Now you want to talk about a real ghost pick for the roster from Clover? Let's talk Vanessa from P.N.03. :lol

EXE. Starforce only popped up from the Lupinko clues pertaining to wizards/goo that people (mostly MM fans) interpreted as some long shot clue to MM Starforce.

I don't know if you guys were present but every clue that Lupinko put out... some MM fan would come in and twist it to be confirmed for Megaman. "OMFG Mighty Max video linked.... MM = Mighty Max = MM = Megaman CONFIRMED!!!"

But ... To be honest, if EXE got in... I would be shocked and why not use Star Force... he clearly is the more powerful megaman out of all of them.... Capcom has no Cosmic love!

Tron's one of the mst enjoyable characters to play in MvC3 for me. A heavy-duty character that doesnt' act like any of them at all, a semi-grappler with an air dash, a very nice ability to combo her own Hypers.

The fact that she's a human riding a mech, making her quite a unique entity just on that alone, all make her one of the better "creative" entries in the game.

She's kinda like an anomoly. She has elements of some stronger/higher tier/"cooler" character sprinkled all about, but she doesn't fit any of the stereotypes this game is so full of ("Character with demonic backgrounds are cool!" "guys in trenchcoats are cool!" "have gun, will shoot!"), which is pretty nice for someone who barely cares about any of that.

But I do thing Megaman could go an even better job at it, if he was able to charge up each projectile to get 2 or 3 levels out of each one. A MMX with Armors, Different powers, and maybe even access to Ride Armor or Motorbikes, could really be something special.

I'm actually really excited about Sentinel's alt colours btw, I really want to see what they do this time around. Wow...we got really distracted by potential things that haven't been added or confirmed as DLC for awhile. I guess I'm ready to talk some more stuff on whats in the game now.
How about this question... out of the 12 characters what kind of teams do you have planned for each?
MY GAMEPLAN FOR UMVC3 SO FAR

Hawkeye- Gonna rock him on anchor most times. Likely running troll with Ghost Rider and Strider, but he may be useful as an assist to setup coverage for either Phoenix Wright or Iron Fist

Strider-This guy will either be point or middle on teams for me and generally he'll rock the teleport kick assist for nice setups. I'm thinking his bro for me will be Ghost Rider since I'm not good with doom. Hoping for a good pairing with him for Rocket Raccoon if the lil guy has a good lock down move.

Firebrand- I could seriously run this guy on any position with that mobility. He needs to do more damage to really run on anchor, but a lil x-factor and I'll live. I'm hoping to pair him with She hulk,X-23, or Felicia rocking low assists for the high low stuff. If not this then I'll probably just dick around and see what works. I'm thinking Iron Fist dragon kick might grant him some tricky stuff.

Ghostrider- Another guy I could put on any position in a squad. I'm betting middle or anchor would be best, but I really want to try him on point with Spencer shooting angled grabs during his jumping chain to fully cover stuff. I'll also be pairing him on that team with Haggar. General point is Haggar Lariat covers him up close, spencer covers his punishable areas during jumps, and GR can use his full screen assist to help Haggar get in. I'm betting there will be some nice symmetry here. My alt team of course involves Iron Fist Dragon Kick trying to cover things for GR creating frustrating rushdown/jump in punishes that lead into wall bounce combos. Lots of team potential for this guy IMO.

Dr Strange-Middle or point guy for me. His inability to run away easily has me worried. His teleports are nice but the sheer punishable nature of his moves given how long they take has me worried about me playing him well. You can't spam with him and you gotta be damned dedicated to your gameplan per match to use him. I'm betting Q coudl rock the guy but I lose patience too much and would likely teleport around a lot and screw up my glyph tactics. If I ran him I'm be using Dante Jam Session and Friggin GR to keep people off him. Just not my style of guy since I'm not the most patient guy.

Nemesis-I'm thinking anchor or second for me. The guy has a fully armored assist that leads to full combo so you'd better BELIEVE I'll want him on teams for that shit. I'm thinking I'd put him on a team with Sent on point and go for crB with him called out for high low armored hell setups. Plus the DHC on any hypers whiffed would be a nice safety net for the big man. Vergil would likely be on this team for the nice sword dash to keep all the trickery flying with drones, armored assists and setups. His teams for me...mainly assist tier due to his speed. I see him as a grappler guy and for that reason I'd rather use him as an assist than as a main in most teams. If I went all in for him I'd use full screen pressure from Hawkeye and GR to give me more setups for my grab attempts.

Iron Fist-NOT AN ANCHOR. I tried that shit with Haggar and Ryu and when you don't have an airdash or decent projectile forget anchor in this game. This guy is my point man and occassional second. I'm gonna see if he works with Ryu because I like Ryu, but I can already tell this isn't the best usage for him. Likely I'll roll Iron Fist, Ghost Rider, Spencer. Spencer will work with his crumple like Combofiend's She-hulk/Spencer setup. GR will give him coverage. If I don't like Ghost Rider I may well switch to Hawkeye, Phoenix Wright for more irritating coverage assists or Nova if he has any assists that still rock against projectiles. Iron Fist is going to be my main so I'll try him with anyone.

Vergil- Fun dude. I want him on point or second since his health means one mistake and he's done. His abilities speak loudly as to his potential as an anchor, but I'd rather be a little chunkier on my anchor by using someone like Spencer most times. Guy can anchor, but I just don't want Vergil as MY anchor...make your own call after you see how well you do with him. The guy is all setups and scary as hell. I'd like to plain go for extensions with the guy so I may just put him in with Chun Li if she gets that OTG for lightning leg extensions. Also, I like him and Iron Fist together. Iron Fist shoots overhead with his kick and Vergil goes low. This works when either is on screen and I like it a lot. If not this team then I'd probably pall him with Strange discs, or Sent Drones and get really irritating. This guy is one of my picks for who we'll see made look really REALLY godly this year on a lot of teams.

Phoenix Wright- Point or middle. Mainly Point (see what I did there?) I like him with Iron Fist and Vergil for high lows if I get his combos down. However If I'm fishing for a team to lead into a lot of lvl 3 then I'm going full troll and using Nemesis/dante assists for complete asshole tier coverage for PW when he's evidence fishing. I like the guy alot and he may end up floating around a lot with everyone on the roster for me.

Nova-Dude is cool in my book. He's got enough for me to run him at any position and with anyone. I'm thinking Hawkeye/Firebrand for now. Firebrand assist with Nova looks pretty fun to try in my book. I'm obviously a mark for the ol' high/low stuff.

Frank West- Not sure yet (obviously) but if he's got shopping cart properties from TVC Then I'm using him with Iron Fist/Ghost Rider for the OTG options he'll provide anywhere on screen. Distance OTG sounds good for Ghost Rider's full screen combo abilities and Iron Fist would be able to wave dash up into full combo off of any OTG that thing would create. Since he lacks long range options in his combos due to his in your face nature a full screen ability to pick up an opponent from the ground that he may have lost somewhere would be nice for Iron Fist...that is IF that shopping cart makes it into this game as an assist.

Rocket Raccoon-Not. A. Clue. I have no idea what he may or may not have unlike my hopes for shopping cart on Frank. I'll know when I see him.

Running Hawkeye on second and Ghost Rider as anchor. Will be putting Trish or Deadpool on point as they're my go to guys in vanilla, but I'll switch them out for either Strange or Wright from time to time and see who of the four I like most.

Also gonna be making a team that has Iron Fist on point cause he's so cool. Probably gonna do Iron Fist/Hawkeye/Iron Man.

So far I'm looking at...

(Ammy/Nova/Morrigan)

(Ammy/Ghost Rider/Nova)

(Ammy/Nova/Dr.Strange)

(Ammy/Trish/Nova)

Ghost Rider and Dr.Strange both lack air dashes, but they have great assists. Dr.Strange looks to have more options which matters most of in the end for me and his level three looks a lot easier to connect. The doctor also has that beam assist which may come in useful combined with Ammy's possible buffed ice beads. Trish is also a very possible character with her strong buffs and air game. Her keepaway is better than Morrigan's, she has an important hyper for unblockables(and OTG one to boot) and her assists can also help Ammy AND Nova.

My teams are more or less centered around characters that compliment Ammy's rushdown and keepaway. They have to be very strong point characters that function just fine without her so I don't know if I'm going to keep Morrigan around for much longer. Also, I used to want to play Vergil, but he looks like another case of herp derp with the stupid hitboxes and I can't stand that kind of ridiculous crap for my characters. His alts were so awesome though...

Hsien-Ko/Wright/Frank West

Hsien-Ko is the only character I actually like from Vanilla and I love Ace Attorney. If Frank is the same summoning zombie/grappler character he is from TvC I can see him being a huge help to Wright assist-wise (I have to use Wright at the moment because one of the keys on my keyboard isn't working).

The only other character I'd replace Frank with is Vergil, because he's the closest thing I'll ever have to a samurai.

Not digging the whole tiers thing, but I'm enjoying seeing the team ideas being thrown around. My opinion is bias due to my love of Iron Fist, but I'd like to point out a very simple thing about him. Insanely fast rushdown, insanely high damage, nice health.

LMHS and projectile free things aside this is enough for me to feel he will be very very good after people stop trying to mash launchers before rekkas. My personal thoughts on bottom of the list for the 12 so far is the same as Crimson's. I think Nemesis, in spite of armor/health/damage, is just too slow and predictable on his moves. He's scary in the right hands, but so are a lot of guys. He just seems too punishable and easy to hit to me.

Other than teams what are your most hyped assists out of the 12 so far?

Nova's easy to use, does decent damage, and has ways of getting in. At the very least he's beginner-friendly.

I really want Iron Fist to be good but if the opponent is good at zoning there's not much you can do.
