Wtf@Elthnum's arcade story.

I looked it up and couldn't find it, but is the VA for Byakuya the same as Noumi from Accel World?

They do sound really similar but the're different people. Only roles for Byakuya's VA I recognize are Johan from Jormungand and the maid from SYD.

What aspects of those characters define them for you?

Linne is an honorary Shiki.

Something like this:

There isnt really anyone that specializes in high damage 50/50 mixups with close range like Dudley. You probably want to try Akatsuki or Seth even if they are "low tier". Grappler of the game is Waldstein so look into him.

Oh well, if I get a chance to play the game, I'll try them out. Unless I dual mod my stick, then chances are higher that I'll pick the game up lol. Going to do it eventually for Xrd

GGs to hao-chi, if he's reading this.

Eltnum is really cool so far. I have no idea how to work her neutral game, but she seems like she pulls you in with her chain and then she gets to pressure you.

On the other hand, Yuzuriha seems pretty neat. Long range was keeping me out, though I feel like if I knew what I was doing, I'd easily beat her at mid/close range.

But yeah, fun game! I'll try out Linne (and maybe the rest of the characters I've yet to try) tomorrow.

On second thought Eltnum would probably be the best choice given her rushdown overhead and throw options.

Good games Rhapsody. I feel like I should just drop Chaos for now. I need someone that a klutz can use and it seems like Byakuya is clicking a whole lot more. His simple rekka combos work for me, and the trap webs remind me of Naoto. I need to figure out some combos with him.

Nanase is so freaking crazy. Her oki is just too strong for my feeble mind to comprehend.

Wow, that Byakuya, Roebear. I had issues against some pressure which got me to mashing too much.
I need to remember to just air shield those traps of yours.

Edit: I almost laughed out loud when Byakuya screamed nee-san since I got Carl flashbacks lol

And Nanase's really fun. I'm messing around with abilities more and making it like some pseudo-Rachel lol

I need to learn how to combo off of people getting hit by the oki though. So a lot of stuff I need to work on.

It seemed like most everything netted you a pretty great combo. Those overheads kept me guessing.

The web traps are a lot of fun. You could tell I was loving the whole ending a block string with it to stay in. Obviously I need to figure out combos once you're in a air trap.

I'm pretty pleased with the netplay. I usually hate netplay but am surprised with how smooth it seems to feel. 3 bar connections feel really really good to me.

I'm kinda digging this game so far. Playing Akatsuki takes a ton of work, but it's super satisfying to break my way in and blow people up like I know he does. So far Waldstein and Hilda seem to make me the most frustrated. Gordeou to an extent as well. Might have to learn a sub specifically to assist with those characters, or just play those MUs more until I can find a comfort zone.

Ive been meaning to get this imported but never got around to placing my order. Don't know if I should just wait it out for the US release or dive in now.... blah decisions.

What kind of oki does she have? I haven't seen much of it yet.

Just got to play for the first time at a friend's. Game is pretty weird, but it feels nice. Orie seems to have a pretty simple gameplan. I'm awful with keeping charge so I struggled with Vatista, and it's a shame she has no real AA normal outside of maybe dash B. Both were pretty interesting to play though so I definitely want to learn them more when I get the game, along with Eltnum.

I've been watching this game for a while and see it change drastically throughout the versions.

Should I cave in and download the JP ver. now or do you think people will still be playing next year with the localized copy comes out? I really wana get down to playing Sion and Orie.

Oki is basically doing j2C ender into j236B. It's pretty simple, but I'm messing around with mixup ideas once they block it. It's not Narukami or Rachel oki quality though, but it's decent. They can avoid it by back teching or neutral tech in back dash. But that forces them closer into the corner, and jumping over the projectile can be risky once I get used to AAing in this game.

Her B+C is pretty neat in this game. Performs a high jump on a ground. So I can do a far poke with a normal and basically jump and do projectiles. If it's j.B+C though, her ability is to float. Think Smash Bros with Puff or something. You get pretty decent control of your air movement. So you can do that out of air normals or air Assault. So I've been doing that for fun double overheads and double crossups. It's not 100 percent safe for me though.

If you can split the cost with a game share absolutely. Even if you can't I think it'd be better to play while the iron is hot. The game is actually catching alot of attention right now, and being featured at this week's TSB too.

Some people (like me) are still waiting on their physical import copies too, so there will definitely be more competition in the coming days.

I played this on a friend's house yesterday it is so good! and refreshing..

But why! from all the characters the only one I could play well was... Byakuya! I can't fin anything from him, the traps are really amazing lol.

I tried Gordeau but I could not do anything...
Still dat UNIEL hype yesterday :) pretty cool game

Gonna be playing this soon. Can't wait.
2 questions
Who is the "Ryu" of the game (fundamentals but good)?
Does this game have English language options?

Watching Twitch streams of this. It's pretty good!

Copy finally shipped from "Playsia" Yesterday, expected to arrive... Next Wednesday! (-_-; ) Watching al these streams while waiting is going to be... something, heh.

Thanks for the Orie player vids the other day Solune, been very helpful to compare their play, the play I remember of her back when the game was pretty new, and this emerging new console player play together.

The fact that her (and so many other characters) seem to have a small mountain of moves that barely get any use makes me want to play even more, actually. Watching through the official character-guide videos makes this even more obvious than reading the wiki.

Akatsuki looks like he'd be so much more dynamic if people aggressively advanced with his Blitzkampf Reflector. There's little use of his neutral jump unique normals from many a player... So much use of his Hien Shippu Kyaku style kicks to get in, but that doesn't always seem to be so smart...He makes people want to jump a lot, but that seems like a really bad idea in this game, even more-so than normal. I wouldn't be surprised if I somehow end up maining him and his STRUGGLE just because I love listening to his theme so much!

Eltnum played by Karune on Brett's stream has been a pleasure to watch. A lot of use of the kind of combos one sees in the JP gameplay, but also not afraid to use things in ways one never really sees in their videos (like using EX gunshot to destroy crazy jumps from anywhere). She does such good damage, and I love the Rhythm of her ground-shot loop combos (reminds me of a useful version of Whip's groundshots... hm, a lot of stuff about her reminds me of Whip actually..)

I've seen so little Byakuya play pop up... Though Nanase looks like she has really nice air control, Hope to see some of the tech the Dustloop peeps are coming up with for her really being used.

Merkava just looks great all around, and almost each person I've seen play him has taken to him very naturally. A good Waldstien gives me all the desired Maxima vibes, just... better. Linne looks like a lot of fun. I've yet to see good console Yuzuriha play. Though I love how much some of her play reminds me of Moriya. Hilda's also on my "Must Try" list. I don't usually play boss-like characters like her, but I really like her take on the personality. Worth it for the OH~HOHOHOHO domination alone. And I'll feel like I'm getting payback VS my brother for his Kudlak-Sin play in Chaos Code...

GWIM WEEPAH! (O.o) Yeah, that's going to be fun to learn how to get around...

Glad to not be waiting on the US release for this. I'll end up getting that too, but the earlier to dive into all the possible tech and emerging playstyles with a game like this, the better!

Nice writeup but regarding this - the reason Akatsuki players won't be doing this is because Reflector requires a GRD block for every use so doing so is either impossible (start of the match) or will end up meaning that at the end of the "turn" your opponent gets the Vorpal Upgrade. Aggressively using any of the B+C moves seems like a pretty decent way of losing the advantage early on.

We'll see though, would love to be proven wrong.

You can still use the reflector even if you have no GRD. It just gives the opponent a block of it to simulate losing it. If the counter attack connects you gain GRD anyway so using it doesn't seem as bad as people think.

Ahh yes, there is the meter use, but I remember hearing...

...yeah, that part! XD I knew BC's could be used without meter, didn't know if gave the opponent one too, though.

I guess it's just that people's neutral game with him looks very "generi-fighter" so far, focusing less on moving UNI style, and more with fireball wars/wishing for IADash fighting.

It's already starting to look a better though, as is everyone else. Saw a pretty good Orie earlier today, even some solid Byakuya stuff. Everyone continues to look fun and worth using in one way or another.

I've definitely found that trying to play him like I'm playing Blitzkampf ain't cutting it. My primary sparring partner so far plays Yuzu, and her gigantic sword attacks are very annoying, but workable. I find that his double jump is a key part of his mobility. I tend to mixup between jumping forward -> double jump forward or forward -> backward etc and then assault dashing afterward when a move whiffs as a pretty consistent method to close the distance. Doesn't seem to work as well against Gordeu so far though. Once Akatsuki gets in he starts to shine.

You can do it online too. You just have to move the cursor off your character and then back on.

Thus removing the purpose of changing the default color. I mean, it doesn't force you to do that offline, so they did fuck it up online. Takes me as long to pick the color after start than reloading the char.
