I don't believe a stylised rendering of a flag on a t-shirt is actually a flag. I don't believe wearing a shirt counts as flying it, and I don't think kneeling lowers a t-shirt to "half-mast."

It can still be seen as a threat though and it's up to the pilots discretion as to how they act.

The world has changed a lot since Feb 20 2011.

You're the only one spouting this "can be seen as a threat" nonsense, doesn't make it true.

My man, long bill like the kid in Sandlot for life.

Oh man. If people are already catching hurt feelings over this, shits going to be so lit when the movie comes out.

I think the issue was likely a combination of the hat and shirt put together that created the issue. It doesn't make what happened right but to be honest with racial tensions being what they are, and a lot of people today don't have a lot of context for what the Black Panthers actually were and some only believe that they were native terrorists.

Admittedly I've only recently started to educate myself on the subject.

Love all these people justifying a person getting kicked out of a plane because of a Marvel comics hat. Stay classy. I mean she already have her shirt backwards because people are arses.

Speaking of staying classy...
I'm pretty sure he's clearly a guy.
Cursory glance at her Twitter revealed she prefers female pronouns. Least you can do is use them.

Good lord, if him wearing a Black Panther hat makes the pilot uncomfortable, that pilot is going to need to stay locked in his house when the movie comes out.

It's a shirt I wouldn't wear to an airport. I also wouldn't where a Giant Bomb shirt to an airport.

That said, there's no reason it should be an issue. Anarchy symbols have been co-opted as fashion for a long time. This isn't like walking into an airport with a shirt made out of an Isis flag.

And even then... It's still just a shirt.

The hat on the other hand... I can't even imagine getting upset about that one.

?

I am guessing because a dumb pilot associates it to the Black Panthers and not Marvel's Black Panther.

You clearly have no idea what an upside down flag means.

It means distress and could be taken to mean the person who does it or wears it intends to do ill harm to that country (cause distress) aka a terrorist.

An upside down cross of hurting beliefs has nothing on that.

A symbol of distress by those flying the flag upside down, not he nation on the flag. So we have you thinking someone saying they are in distress is a threat while those with a literal symbol of hate is no threat at all. Bloody hell.

Every part of this is a chain of stupidity by everyone who cared about the shirt and hat.

Regardless if you like the shirt, it's ridiculous to be kicked off a plane for it.

If we are kicking people of planes over political opinion than a lot more people should be put on the no fly list.

Nothing this person is wearing is any form of hate speach. Kicking this upside-down American flag wearing person off a plane is pretty damn un-American.

Flight attendant is right to ask the bag is placed under the seat. Why did that lead to any altercation with this person?

Person probably ignored attendant with a healthy dose of eye rolling. Then got indignant when called out. Then screamed victim. Then will get a free voucher for a future date to do it again so the cycle can start again.

Regardless if it should be allowed or not, someone who wears that shit to an airplane is a moron so I have a tendency to believe the altercation went down slightly differently than her being a good abiding citizen.

As an aside, I hear a lot of people, attendants and passengers, are getting fed up by the shit people wear to flights nowadays. I wonder if a 'classy airlines' that enforces wearing a suit has viability.

Today, on NeoGAF, someone explained to me that when I have to take a flight, I need to make sure my tshirt won't hurt the Good American feelings.

Holy shit, there is really a defence force for anything here.

One possibility as to the cause of the altercation could be that the attendant called her "Sir" when asking her to stow her shit and she flipped out.

I want to believe you're trolling, but given your post history of just shitposting when people disagree with you, man I can just never tell anymore.
