ugh, with only one week left, i'm beginning to get paranoid and scared stoneheart will be cut/pushed into next season

don't do it

It better not, I'm guessing it'll be the last shot of the season. The fireworks it'll cause...

They really need to do it, it's a great hook for the next season.

Quick question from a non-reader who's spoiled a bit but not all - Where is the tree Bran is heading to on this map? I just wanna see how far they've traveled off screen from Craster's Keep

Also where has Mance been hiding the entire time? I know the wildlings are nomadic but they have no home city at all? Unless it's that hard home? Why not attack the north by boat then like the Ironborn? Ironborn seemed to be able to conquer half the North with just some boats and precision strikes.

Saw something on reddit the other day saying "and we see a not so dead character"

Stoneheart is definitely the last scene of the season.

Battle was EPIC. I thought stannis came earlier. Next episode? Will they elect him in the same episode?

The cave is somewhere within the Haunted Forest. GRRM's descriptions of travel time are inconsistent, so we don't know how far beyond the wall it is, but the Lands of Ice and Fire describe it as "South of the Antler River".

Mance just travels from village-to-village, camp-to-camp. The Wildlings have no nautical history and no knowledge of how to make ships.

Honestly kind of disappointed. Didn't match the scale or capture the critical moments from the book. Felt disjointed and poorly paced. I'd give them a TV mulligan if they hadn't done such a good job with the Blackwater.

Odd seeing people say "who cares about the white walkers, give us more Kings Landing."

Maybe the show should have actually shown the Battle of the Fist of the First Men, cause maybe people don't understand how fookin serious they are.

I was looking at some odd things on the maps. Why would the northmen need to cross the twins if king's road doesn't go through it?

Why didn't they march their army down king's road towards King's Landing? Were they trying to avoid the Lannister army to get to King's Landing by going the long way?

Cutting Stoneheart is not a horrible idea. It gives finality to the Northern rebellion storyline and allows the showrunners to introduce human characters who will carry that banner.

Having random revenge killings from a monstrous zombie-Cat doesn't really serve the show if she's not a regular character.

Basically, yeah. Don't think I've ever seen battle maps, but it sounds like the Main force of the Lannister army lies near the KingsRoad further south. Going down it runs right into them (where the assuredly would be prepared for that and ambush Robb's army).

Going through the Twins (and their massive bridge that would make it easy to get an army across) allows them to go around them and attack from the back/sides.

Something like that.

The question with Stoneheart is that even if you've read the books, its not clear what her ultimate purpose in the overall story is as of yet.

Jon gets hit by anvil in the face and he just shrugs it off and smashes dude's head with a hammer.

Fuck the logic.

Yeah, as soon as his face smacked that anvil I was half expecting Jon Snow's head to explode like Oberyn's. That looked rough and yet he barely reacted to it.

Was that giant wall anchor / scythe thing in the books?

Nope, but that and the giant shooting the arrow were pretty awesome additions though.

edit: well Jon's pretty tough, getting shot by Ygritte a few times last season didn't seem to do all that much to him after awhile, so something small like a face to an anvil should barely phase him.

Eh, the action and choreography was pretty nice, and I think they did well with Ygritte's death, but I was pretty disappointed with the episode otherwise. The TV show has just done such a piss poor job of managing all of the Wall storyline. smh. And killing off Pyp and Grenn? Wtf?

Robb was never attempting to attack King's Landing in the books after Ned was dead, iirc. He was trying to defend the North and Riverlands from the Lannister army and secede. Anyway, attacking King's Landing was not a sure fire victory and left all of his Kingdom vulnerable to the 60,000 Lannister men in the Riverlands.

They needed to cross the Twins to break Jaime's siege of Riverrun. They couldn't march to King's landing because Tywin's army was in the way and the priority was to save the Riverlands.

I think it would have been funny if they had let Jon Snow kill the little boy who shot Ygritte. Just sliced his head off.

So now Jon won't be able to make the mistake of sending all his friends away to the other castles once he becomes LC, since:

Either way, Mance doesn't have wargs?

We could simply assume he hasn't sent any wargs to scout yet?

If I recall, in the books it was mance that asked to meet with the nights watch to negotiate the NW's surrender threatening to blow the (fake) horn and bring down the wall if the NW doesn't surrender immediately. In the books mance knew the wildlings would win if they kept pushing, but he didn't want to have to sacrifice too many wildlings from the battle and dealing with the WW in the stalled time.
