I though Ramsay was the only character left of the show, could be wrong though.

I get the whole thing about teasing the show-only thread being obnoxious. But "The book thread sends it regards" is goddamned funny nonetheless.

Tonight is a big night for TV and most don't know it yet. One of the most hated characters ever meets his demise. Joffrey will be remembered as one of the great TV villains of all time. Hell, he already is.

Think of all the bullshit other network shows do when a character leaves, compared with what goes down tonight. Funny to think about.

I'm completely expecting another hashtag to trend, #joffreysdead or something like that.

Are there any especially notable characters whose roles so far have been lowered in the show (assuming they exist at all) compared to the books, and how does it effect the story?

There wasn't one, right? Didn't Aegon unite the 7 kingdoms for the first time in their history?

correct. Each of the kingdoms had their own rulers/kings before Aegon took over. Those rulers became the Lord Paramounts we see now after Aegon's conquering (well Dorne resisted for a little while more).

Can someone remind me who the last Westerosi king was before the Targaryens took over?
There were many, hence the Seven Kingdoms. Dorne was the last to be united under the Targaryens, though, over 100 years after Aegon's landing. And it was never actually conquered, which is why the Martells are still princes and princesses.

Ser Dontos, for one. He wasn't in season 3 at all, and only had one brief scene in season 2. In episode one of season 4, they brought him back and, in my opinion, it lessened the impact he has on Sansa's arc in the books. It felt too forced for my liking.

What are the odds that Balon Greyjoy randomly falls off a bridge today?

None.

There was no united realms, all of the countries had their own kings, with the Riverlands being ruled by the King of the Iron Islands.
Aegon united them except for the Dornish kings who were added to the realm a century or so later by Daeron. Never entirely conquered though, hence their different titles.

Edit: got ninja'd heh

Looking forward to this. It's going to be weird. I'm curious as to whether they're going to pile on the indignities thrown at Tyrion as in the books. I'm going to assume just from a production/animal rights perspective were unlikely to get the dog & the pig though (thankfully).

Pure speculation but I think it's the other way around. Probably Hinds not wanting to commit heavily into the show has limited the screen time
Makes no sense otherwise

They got Hinds up to Iceland so I'm not sure how much more he could commit. I just think he got the Halfhand treatment and they didn't bother to give him anything when John Snow wasn't around.

They've shown a willingness to expand on characters with bit parts in the book when casting name actors (Tywin, Olenna). Even his scenes last year felt like they had been shot within a week, totaling like ten minutes of screen time, if that. If a repeat happens this year, I can only speculate he didn't want to be up in Iceland for any serious period of time.

I can imagine why they decided to do that from a logistic perspective. Most of his important scenes are those moments in the godswood with Sansa, along with what's coming soon with the wedding and aftermath. But as a fan of Sansa's story, that does seem pretty unfortunate.

Oh no, they might be getting too smart in the other thread:

I mean while the idea is logically the premise isn't sound. Has Gurm written an episode 9 style episode where shit goes to hell yet? I know he wrote the bear and the maiden fair last season but i figured he just got an episode a season and not necessarily one where extremely major points happen.

He wrote Blackwater (S2EP9)

George has written "The Pointy End" (108), "Blackwater" (209), and "The Bear and the Maiden Fair" (307).

So, he's written

Episode 2 (S4)
Episode 7 (S3)
Episode 8 (S1)
Episode 9 (S2)

Now I'm hoping that he'll write either episodes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 10 in the coming seasons so he'll end with with a complete set!

I am so hyped. Really wish Sky Atlantic were live streaming this one as well.

Looking forward to the internet meltdowns (or like, the opposite of meltdowns) and the long WebMs of Joff choking.

Hopefully people don't feel the need to shit up the other thread. Just let them deal with it themselves. Especially don't spoil who was responsible, that probably won't be confirmed this episode.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was though. Littlefinger is a mustache twirling villain on the show and I doubt he could resist revealing to (at the very least) Sansa that it was him and Olenna who killed Joffrey.

"Spoiler" based on casting information

Dontos is apparently in episode 3, so Littlefinger might not get a chance to tell this episode. It'll probably be pretty obvious Olenna was involved, what with how they set up the necklace interaction, but still, it's not nice to confirm stuff they could only suspect.

I would guess that we might just see Joffrey's death and Tyrion getting accused in this episode, and then Sansa's flight from King's Landing and meeting up with Littlefinger would be early in Episode 3.

*** This thread is filled with spoilers. It is known. Get out while you still can ***

Guys, I was thinking about Bran on the show, and I'm seeing a big problem with his age. How will Hodor be able to carry him around in a basket, when the kid keeps growing? He's grown a lot so far, imagine what will happen next season? And HBO wants 3 more seasons!
