Why are they even calling it purple wedding in the show? There's nothing purple, you could make a case for Joffrey's face but even then...

Your logic is about as sound as Cersei's!

Not as far as I know, my copies also have the hbo logo.

Great! Ill get those then. Thank you!

Yes, but there is a reading order that combines A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons, makes them much more enjoyable].
In case you don't know, those two books take place at the same time for the most part and are divided by characters. Several characters aren't featured in AFFC at all and only return in ADWD.

Ah! I had no idea. Thank you for that! Ill bookmark the website.

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in Lena Headey's performance, I was expecting a more believable reaction.

I didn't even think about it the first time I watched, it seemed natural. And knowing there are people who don't like her, I paid attention to her performance on rewatch. I thought it was just fine.

This whole thread exists because the people in the other thread need to be in the care of a babysitter for the decade that this show will be on the air, so I don't see a problem with some of us working together to try to root out people who are ruining key and surprising plotlines like "who killed Joffrey and why."

I mean, how many pages in the history of these threads have been devoted to discussing/making fun of/thrilling at what people are talking about in the other thread? I would wager that its more than half.

If a mod wants us to stop then believe me, we will be more than happy to stop.
Occasional posts of the "oh, I can't believe what this poster said in the other thread" aren't really an issue. They're entertaining, and as long as you strip the username out of the quote it's all fine and good. The stuff like I'd like to avoid is all of the finger pointing and trying to discern who's a book reader over there. Ultimately, we're here to talk about the show not run a witch hunt. I understand that we'll see a little bit of that here, but I'd much prefer that you send those thoughts via PM to a moderator so we can take a look at it. It keeps this thread from derailing, and I'm sure if anyone is a stealth book reader over there, they love the attention from people calling them out in this thread. PMs are helpful, though. Hope that makes sense, and thanks for your assistance.

Yep, this thread should just be talking about the show. Sometimes this thread just seems like it is just talking about the other thread.

I liked last weeks episode a lot more than this one. The Bran stuff isn't very interesting when he only gets four minutes every other episode, it feels like checking it off the list. I continue to not like what they're doing with Stannis and the wedding itself wasn't that much fun to watch except the very end. This show is pretty hit or miss for me.

Are there new screenwriters working on this season or something? I've noticed that the last two episodes have had infinitely better pacing and writing than any of the episodes from previous seasons. I honestly thought last week that the opener was better than any episode from the previous seasons, even though nothing big even happened in it.

Great episode. Loved everything about the wedding. Both funny and tense as hell with a wonderful attention to detail. So much going on.

Also kudos to Jack Gleeson. His Joffrey was amazing from beginning to the very end. I will miss him.

This thread moves fast so I'll ask again, where is a good place to get the set of books for cheap? If really like to start reading but need to conserve my money.

LOL! I've been complaining about lack of sleep recently. What the hell am i doing to myself.
I keep finding these "HBO edition" books on amazon. I'm wondering if i should go for the original books or the ones with the new cover with the GoT logo on it. I know that the show is a bit different than the books so thats why i ask. Is there a difference between the old original books and the new ones? do u kno?

Not sure, I did all mines Kindle edition.
In last season, Stannis was going to execute him but a letter from the Wall arrived changing their "priorities".
I was disappointed by the delivery of this in the show, the book took a much more solemn tone to Davos learning to read in order to best serve Stannis, as he knelt and read the letter to him.

Why are they making Shae out to be sympathetic? Is it for the feminist audience?

To have her death "pack an extra punch"

Amazon usually has them for cheap. Might be worth it to buy them individually instead of a box set

Who was the girl with Ramsay in the opening sequence? I think he called her Miranda?

I don't remember a girl that hunts with him from the book, all I remember is that there were some random guys that hunted with him...

That's what happened in the book. In the show, Stannis wants to execute him anyway, but Melisandre tells him not to, and he obeys, which is pretty fucking stupid.

she was one of the 2 naked girls who were seducing reek in season 3.
I'm not sure but the blonde who got killed today might have been the other girl

That looks that he gives Marge, that's the moment he realizes he is dying and you can almost see the childlike fear that takes hold. So good.

As far as I can tell know one in the show has, or will, call it the purple wedding. That's not even a phrase from the books is it? Just a fan name for the event I thought.

Anyone else expect Theon to look different now he'd adopted the Reek persona? I'd always envisaged him having discoloured eyes, having aged twenty years in the space of a few months. Instead he looks pretty much like Theon pre-torture.

WTF at Tyrion telling Shae to fuck off. Now she will go to Tywin willingly and will have a clear motive to betray him during the trial, what the hell.

Now with this scene the shock of Tyrion killing Shae is lost, why would he now? He told her she is a whore and should leave, she acts accordingly and then he kills her to add insult to injury? That's stupid, Tyrion is not such an asshole in the series.

Unless... wait, are they planning on Tyrion NOT killing Shae...?

Not gonna talk about Stannis and his show stupidity, I'm trying to get used to it.

I think she's there so that Ramsay's violence towards women isn't entirely overdone. Which I can understand. But I can see her character getting killed in any case.

I'm gonna say regarding Shae, is Tyrion finds her in Tywins bed, strangled already. That's my guess.

Completely forgot Joffery died around this point.
Honestly, it's like a total whatever moment for me, I saw this happening in a much different way in my head than it rolled out in the show. I thought this happened in doors at night. Also imagined the whole celebration being more chaotic as he died.

Still, good stuff on that acting and that death scene was 10/10.

They really scaled it back for Reek. I imagined him looking much older, crippled and balding with whispy white patches of hair.
They could have at least shaved some of that hair off or made it look more white/gray. He just sort of hobbles around now from what I can see.

I did like how the Purple Wedding had a very different feel from Robb Stark's death. It was very quiet and painful to watch, and the moments leading up to it were equally painful.

Up until now Tyrion has been much less of an asshole thatn in the books so if they go a darker route in this particular event i wouldn't complain.

Yeah i mean the media around it.

So Margery is the Queen Regent? But the council is payed by lannisters and the hand of the king is a lannister.
Why does Margery marry Tommen? What do the tyrell gain?

Very true. Before Joff died I was telling my roommates "this is worse than the red wedding" for how damn awkward it all was.

Margarey was just queen consort, she has no power by her lonesome. Joffrey died without heirs so the title goes to his next of kin, his brother.

Tywin is acting king until Tommen comes of age. Tywin can't piss off the Tyrell's so he will marry Tommen to Margery.

Cersei has to be Queen Regent. Marg still has to marry Tommen to be the Queen.

No, she was queen consort for a few hours but now that Joffrey's dead she's queen dowager.

Cersei wasn't queen regent because she was Robert's wife, it was because she's Joffrey's mother and he was a minor.

Tywin is acting king until Tommen comes of age.
Tywin can be named regent but not king regent, he doesn't have that title and he's not in the line of succession at all.

Tommen's new actor...
He has a new actor right?
I mean either that or the kid had a growth spurt that beats out Bran's face...

I don't see a need for a recasting, I always pictured Tommen as young as the original actor, just some little kid getting swept along by everyone else.

This episode has me thinking of picking up the books now. I dont usually read books, how hard would it be for me to get into them? Love the show, story, characters and the wiki's..

Do it. Completely worth it. The books expand so much on background story, so you really get what's going on.

Yes, they did a recast. Maybe they required a better actor for the scenes to come, and old Tommen couldn't deliver. Now, according to the books, Marg gifted Tommen some kitties so he could play with some pussies while he grew up. New Tommen looks old enough to play with the pussy, and not a feline one, right away. I don't know how they'll handle it.

The entire point of Tommen in the books is that he signs whatever they put in front of him. In the books, it's because he's too young to even understand what he's really doing. They can probably get away with the same thing in the show by making him just a sweet, naive slightly older kid. A "yes, grandpa, I love you!" type.
