Why are they even calling it purple wedding in the show? There's nothing purple, you could make a case for Joffrey's face but even then...
Not as far as I know, my copies also have the hbo logo.
Yes, but there is a reading order that combines A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons, makes them much more enjoyable].
In case you don't know, those two books take place at the same time for the most part and are divided by characters. Several characters aren't featured in AFFC at all and only return in ADWD.
I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in Lena Headey's performance, I was expecting a more believable reaction.
Occasional posts of the "oh, I can't believe what this poster said in the other thread" aren't really an issue. They're entertaining, and as long as you strip the username out of the quote it's all fine and good. The stuff like I'd like to avoid is all of the finger pointing and trying to discern who's a book reader over there. Ultimately, we're here to talk about the show not run a witch hunt. I understand that we'll see a little bit of that here, but I'd much prefer that you send those thoughts via PM to a moderator so we can take a look at it. It keeps this thread from derailing, and I'm sure if anyone is a stealth book reader over there, they love the attention from people calling them out in this thread. PMs are helpful, though. Hope that makes sense, and thanks for your assistance. This whole thread exists because the people in the other thread need to be in the care of a babysitter for the decade that this show will be on the air, so I don't see a problem with some of us working together to try to root out people who are ruining key and surprising plotlines like "who killed Joffrey and why."
I mean, how many pages in the history of these threads have been devoted to discussing/making fun of/thrilling at what people are talking about in the other thread? I would wager that its more than half.
If a mod wants us to stop then believe me, we will be more than happy to stop.

I'm forgetting something about the show, has stannis or mel reacted to davos freeing gendry?
LOL! I've been complaining about lack of sleep recently. What the hell am i doing to myself.
I keep finding these "HBO edition" books on amazon. I'm wondering if i should go for the original books or the ones with the new cover with the GoT logo on it. I know that the show is a bit different than the books so thats why i ask. Is there a difference between the old original books and the new ones? do u kno?
I was disappointed by the delivery of this in the show, the book took a much more solemn tone to Davos learning to read in order to best serve Stannis, as he knelt and read the letter to him.In last season, Stannis was going to execute him but a letter from the Wall arrived changing their "priorities".
Why are they making Shae out to be sympathetic? Is it for the feminist audience?
This thread moves fast so I'll ask again, where is a good place to get the set of books for cheap? If really like to start reading but need to conserve my money.

To have her death "pack an extra punch"
oh yes good, I couldn't remember if they changed it from the booksIn last season, Stannis was going to execute him but a letter from the Wall arrived changing their "priorities".
I think they're ruining it. Especially because show Tyrion is much more of a good guy than book Tyrion so Shae's death could be more confusing and out-of-character than shocking.
That's what happened in the book. In the show, Stannis wants to execute him anyway, but Melisandre tells him not to, and he obeys, which is pretty fucking stupid. In last season, Stannis was going to execute him but a letter from the Wall arrived changing their "priorities".
Who was the girl with Ramsay in the opening sequence? I think he called her Miranda?
I don't remember a girl that hunts with him from the book, all I remember is that there were some random guys that hunted with him...
I liked the Bronn/Jaime moment. Hope we get a bit more of that.
Why are they even calling it purple wedding in the show? There's nothing purple, you could make a case for Joffrey's face but even then...
Well to be fair, it's not like they've done Shae justice so far..

Anyone else expect Theon to look different now he'd adopted the Reek persona? I'd always envisaged him having discoloured eyes, having aged twenty years in the space of a few months. Instead he looks pretty much like Theon pre-torture.
Up until now Tyrion has been much less of an asshole thatn in the books so if they go a darker route in this particular event i wouldn't complain.WTF at Tyrion telling Shae to fuck off. Now she will go to Tywin willingly and will have a clear motive to betray him during the trial, what the hell.
Now with this scene the shock of Tyrion killing Shae is lost, why would he now? He told her she is a whore and should leave, she acts accordingly and then he kills her to add insult to injury? That's stupid, Tyrion is not such an asshole in the series.
Unless... wait, are they planning on Tyrion NOT killing Shae...?
Yeah i mean the media around it.As far as I can tell know one in the show has, or will, call it the purple wedding. That's not even a phrase from the books is it? Just a fan name for the event I thought.
I did like how the Purple Wedding had a very different feel from Robb Stark's death. It was very quiet and painful to watch, and the moments leading up to it were equally painful.
So Margery is the Queen Regent? But the council is payed by lannisters and the hand of the king is a lannister.
Why does Margery marry Tommen? What do the tyrell gain?
Very true. Before Joff died I was telling my roommates "this is worse than the red wedding" for how damn awkward it all was.

No, she was queen consort for a few hours but now that Joffrey's dead she's queen dowager. So Margery is the Queen Regent?
Tywin can be named regent but not king regent, he doesn't have that title and he's not in the line of succession at all.Tywin is acting king until Tommen comes of age.
Margarey was just queen consort, she has no power by her lonesome. Joffrey died without heirs so the title goes to his next of kin, his brother.
Since Tommen seems to have aged about 7 years... here's hoping to a "Margery appealing to the nature of a teenage boy" scene.
This episode has me thinking of picking up the books now. I dont usually read books, how hard would it be for me to get into them? Love the show, story, characters and the wiki's..
Tommen's new actor...
He has a new actor right?
I mean either that or the kid had a growth spurt that beats out Bran's face...
I don't see a need for a recasting, I always pictured Tommen as young as the original actor, just some little kid getting swept along by everyone else.
Yes, they did a recast. Maybe they required a better actor for the scenes to come, and old Tommen couldn't deliver. Now, according to the books, Marg gifted Tommen some kitties so he could play with some pussies while he grew up. New Tommen looks old enough to play with the pussy, and not a feline one, right away. I don't know how they'll handle it.
Very easy to read so if you like everything about the show you should love them. This episode has me thinking of picking up the books now. I dont usually read books, how hard would it be for me to get into them? Love the show, story, characters and the wiki's..
