I don't think they expected it to sell so well. I know my Gamestop sold out very quickly. Great news for Supermassive though that it's selling so well.
As for personality I don't really self-insert, but try to bring out their own natural personalities.
Played about four hours of the game so far and I love it! It's exactly what I wanted. So far it seems in first playthrough of the game
It's really interesting comparing the previews to my game so far to see the differences. For example in preview videos

Just finished it. Had a blast. Only main issue I had were some noticeable framerate drops but nothing too annoying. Seems very replayable, though some scenes I can imagine being kinda boring to play through again.

I fucked up so hard at the end, I didn't realize having Sam run would blow up the whole fucking cabin. Ended up taking out Mike and Ashley by accident, super pissed.

How do I get Matt to keep the flare gun and not shoot it? I gave it to him as Emily, but then he immediately shot it into the air without giving me a choice. That's the only character death where Im not sure how to fix.

Has to be more than that. I did the above and got the same result. My thinking:
He shoots the Flare Gun because he wants to alert someone, and doing so updates the On The Same Page butterfly affect, so I believe he has to disagree with Emily somehow in what they should be doing, e.g. alerting the authorities or staying put.
He was my one death on a perfect run.
Also I'm laughing at how many hidden trophies I have. Time to try again.

What about:
since Matt shoots the flare since he wants to alert someone, can you radio first without getting the flare gun, then he won't think it's necessary to shoot the flare. Or does radio-ing for help automatically trigger the cutscene of the tower falling?

So im confused
During the scene where you have to choose between Ashley and Josh dying. I tried to make Ashley die but it simply wont let me, is this supposed to happen?
The same thing happened to me. Not sure if it was the choices I made with Dr. Hill. I picked Ashley to die and it killed Josh. I wonder if I picked Josh if it'd have killed Ashley?

I dont think it wouldve because Ive exited out of the game 4 times now to redo it, and no matter what Josh dies.
Where did you buy it? I looked for it at JB Hi Fi at Liverpool Westfield but couldn't find it except they only have regular edition so I ended up buying Steelbook from EBGames >_<.It's time!

Loving the game so far. Got to chapter 5, but sadly I just lost my first character. I had to. I can't figure out how tochoose between Josh and Ashley and chose Ashley. If anyone's done it I'd appreciate the tip for my next playthrough!save them both

Answer in spoilers:
First of all, that's crazy, because when I gave the gun to Matt I had a choice. But in order to have Matt survive, you just need to jump to safety (choose Jump twice) instead of trying to save Emily. Emily will always survive the collapse and can still make it out alive as long as she doesn't fail more than one QTE during the Wendigo chase scene later on.
The tower always falls once you radio, and you can't get the gun once the radio scene starts, but the gun is only needed to give you protection later on if you end up falling into the mine (as Matt, the gun is required to save him there) or as Emily (you can use the gun to ward off the Wendigo and not get bit, but you can still survive the chase without the gun).

Is there a way to exit the game? I quit using the close application option and then restarted. When aim try to resume I'm sitting at a "Recovering partially installed data" black screen"and it says it can take up to twenty minutes....wtf?

Do your choices with Dr. Hill at the beginning of each chapter affect the way that the game plays out? You can just spoiler tag yes or no
It affects what you see in the world, but not the storyline. For example, if you are scared of rats instead of cockroaches, then rats will come out of a dead body instead of cockroaches. Typing that sentence gave me the heebie-jeebies so please stop asking!

Started playing as soon as it let me but that was at 8pm. I just stopped 4 hours later and it's stuck at 93% and going nowhere.

I pre ordered this expecting to play and my freaking ps4 controller wouldn't sync up with my ps4 for some reason, it plugs into my pc fine but just won't sync to my ps4.
Does someone know if you plug a ps4 controller into your pc does that "unsync/unpair" it to your ps4? I used to play my ps4 WHILE the controller was plugged into my usb hub (to keep it charged and not have it run out while playing), so just wondering.
Ended up ordering a new longer-cord and controller but have to wait until Thursday for them to get here.

I reinstalled the game and the recovering partially installed data cleared up. Went through in a few minutes.
It knows, you're already dead...
But seriously,
i think just hook the charge cord up when turning it (ps4) on, and then disconnect the cord after turning it off again. Then turn it on with controller. That's how i sync mine when first got and new controllers.
