US - 2019 total hardware number for PS4, XB1, and Switch.

I like how no one is talking about the Low PS4 numbers but only the low Xbox numbers, which are higher. Both of them are bad, not even 1 million?

Honestly I think Nintendo needs to get to that $100-150 price point b.a.m.n.

3DS fills a market niche and needs to be replaced. Do you think there will be a Switch Pro to supersede the main console someday?

The next gen of Tegra up from the one in the current Switch, is now the same price if not a bit lower than the price the current Switch's Tegra costed in 2017.

I expect an Elite Switch but I expect Nintendo to blow it by not dropping the price of the regular Switch and the lite accordingly.

Surprised how long Xbox is to PS.

All in all its great to see these aging consoles still moving showing the market still has life in it.

Kinda surprised by the low Xbox sales numbers if accurate. The series X really needs to have a strong launch.

The whole "Microsoft is doing great, look at Game Pass" narrative has hidden very well the weak hardware sales.

There's a reason why Microsoft is not confident to share their console sales numbers anymore.

What? How can this be? Shouldn't the Xbox sales be WAY LOWER, since MS only reports MAUs? This is what GAF told me: The only reason MS uses MAU metrics is because the Xbox sales are very low?!

What do you mean by way lower, global sales might very well be all-time low for xbox hardware. Although, precise annual sales on the original xbox are hard to come by. That averaged about 6m units per year.

Waiting on statista 2019 numbers for confirmation, my guess sub 5m units.

Fyi, Ms has been hinting that mau reporting might be a thing of the past, want to guess why?

Well... Microsoft didn't even report their MAU numbers for their previous reported fiscal quarter...

So awesome to see Luigi's Mansion among that "big seller" list. I've loved this series since I first saw a demo in a retail store nearly 20 years ago. That art style is evergreen man.
You have no idea how happy I'm to see Luigi's Mansion 3 selling so well, this game made Luigi my favourite character in Mario series.

Japan doesn't matter and doesn't have expendable income confirmed.

Not just Japan and parts of Asia, almost the entirety of western Europe as well apparently.

I mean it's not like Playstation is generating close to double the revenue or anything.

In Sweden and Finland Xbones have been heavily discounted while PS4s has had pretty much the same price.
No Switch discounts at all but my impression is that it has been selling really well.

Nah, i know what i said. The switch is clearly what the wii u shouldve been.
I'm just saying that the userbase for the Switch is not the same as it was for the Wii, but rather the same as for the 3DS. The thirst for a new handheld console from Nintendo was immense, but for a stationary one? Not so much.

The hybrid form was a clever move though, which pretty much makes everyone happy, except for the small userbase that wants a powerful stationary console, but as we know - there's not nearly enough of them.

We already get that with PlayStation and Xbox and people who care much more about graphics already own one of those two consoles or PC. Why Nintendo needs to be like them?

For me personally I'm at that age that I no longer care for high tech graphics, give me games I care about and I'm happy and that's all I want from next gen and gen after that.

Don't read too much into xbox December numbers ... they practically gave away xbox one s digital.

Nothing to brag about ....it was 169 cdn ... I bet it was even cheap in USA

I don't care about high tech graphics from Nintendo either, all I'd want is 1080p. Anything less than that on a TV is just too much of a blurry mess for me.

Seeing how close Xbox is to PS4 with such a disastrous start to the gen, I'm pretty sure they're taking the lead in the USA/UK again next-gen.

No need to damage control. They're almost on par in the USA so it's no surprise that from time to time they're outselling the PS4, it's no big deal.

Bro I didn't mention Ps4 ... just that Phil bent over ..spread his ass cheeks to pull some numbers. If they gave out the breakdown ..it will all be 95% discless xbox vs Xbox One X

You're still trying to spin this into something negative for MS... Sony was the one in last place, find something negative to say about that instead. Even if it was 99% Xbox SAD how does that change anything ..? I mean so I guess the base PS4 base numbers don't count because it's the cheaper SKU?

Again, I did not mention SONY or PS4.

How fucking pathetic is your life that you pull everyone in a PS4 vs Xbox and everyone is against Xbox crap.

You have fucking done this with multiple people.

Yeah well it doesn't cost that much to make one, and they are trying to get people on their platform so that they also use one of their services and eventually buy an XSX.

Go cry somewhere else troll. The irony.

It's not close, Xbox probably didn't sell 5m units this year. The trend has been almost 10 years down, generally speaking.

My guess is half xbone sales in its first 4 years globally.

Definately.

People get upset for some reason when you call Switch a handheld, although less so now that lite is a thing. But, that is what it is. It uses mobile chip and gpu and has a screen, it is handheld.

And they have the enthusiast mobile gaming market all to themselves, very smart.

UK is almost 50/50 with PS4 and XBO.

It's mainland Europe and Asia that hold these creepy brand allegiances where one brand dominates all.
Sorry, but given how xbox has handled themselves this gen I think this is the UK/US (and probably Canada/Australia) that have creepy brand allegiances. The xbone should hold market share 25 - 30% at most, I mean if people were sane on average, there is a place for outliers and people who only play halo/forza/gears.

And I think I am pretty nice to MS given their actual gaming output and the performance of the base xbone.

Yes, you are being generous. I'm expecting the trend that started about 10 years ago to continue, lost market share. If Phil doesn't figure out how to get "services" on other devices and sell mass amounts of subscriptions at high prices - gaming within Microsoft will have to shrink drastically. They have gutted Xbox as a Hardware, not that it ever sold good, but they gutted what they had built in the 2001-2010 years.

Its to da clouds now.

What Phil and Nadella will do now is say, see our hardware is not selling. :messenger_beaming:

50 million is quite the accomplishment for an Xbox console. Kudos to MS.
The claim come from a investor calling where the guy uses a data from DFC that says Xbox One will hit 50 million.
There is no when.

The transcript of the call:
https://seekingalpha.com/article/43...k-on-q3-2019-results-earnings-call-transcript

"Last quarter, PlayStation 4 hit the 100 million mark for cumulative units sold and Xbox One to hit about 50 million according to DFC."

Switch will probably hit 50 million before Xbox One.
