Holy jebus! 2032?!Grubdog said:Let's get some high scores going!
Can anyone beat my score of 2032 in Banana Kingdom (first level)?
For a newbie, it depends on their coordination. My girlfriend is rather poor with the ol' hand-eye, but she still enjoys Jungle Beat. That said, flying and swimming take some skills beyond just learning to play with the bongos. I don't know if my girlfriend had trouble with those parts, but her younger brother (15 yrs. old) had trouble with them, and he's a lot better at games than my girlfriend.SickBoy said:I've heard the game is easy, but I'm wondering how easy... it's not a bad thing. I'm actually wondering because my wife might like the game, but if it's too tough she might find it frustrating. She's worse than a kid when it comes to giving up on games.
Seems like it's sort of a combo between Sonic and Nights or something... played a demo the other day, and it was a fun time...

that's what I'm doing.Grubdog said:Not good enough!
Did you get a 10 combo on the first stage and a 7 (might have been 6..) combo on the second one? Another tip, try and avoid getting bananas that you see at the beginning at first and come back to then when you have done some combos, if you can.![]()
Yeah I've learned the hop. It's just really hard to do in the first stage of Pineapple Kingdom. :|Grubdog said:Have you learned how to do that strange small hop from a corner? I can kind of do that now, you just sort of jump passed a corner and jump again when you're right on it, I finally figured it out after doing it by accident a few times. You can add 1 to your combo by doing that in both levels, on the first one it's right at the start before you bounce on the flower, and on the second one you start your combo with it on that little island thingy with the platform you can reach to the far right above the water, and try not to get any bananas before you get there.
There's a few other things i've done accidently to add to my combo that I still haven't figured out, like once I did something where I hit the roof and it added to my combo, and once I did a weird jump that looked like a long.. spin.. jump.. thing.
It has that old school goodness that makes you play again and again.
Pedigree Chum said:If I had a NGC this game would be mine, it looks like it captures some of the essence of Punch-Out with crazy platforming goodness. It seriously looks like on of those games that has crazy replay value just based on it being so fun (like Punch-Out). The fact that Revo is BC might make me pick one up, along with Zelda this year...I'm pretty sure I can get a NGC for $60 at my local VG shop. Hmm, decisions, decisions.
I've got some Q's, how long is this game till completion? Is there incentive for replaying the game? Also, is there a mode to fight consecutive boss battles? Are the boss battles hard/pattern based like in Punch-Out. Last Q, do you guys see yourselves going back to this game in the future? Does it seem like a game that could bring you back numerous times (like Punch-Out).
AirBrian said:Pedigree Chum, if you do decide to pick up a GC, do not forget about Resident Evil 4.
Cool.Pedigree Chum said:My friend has it, probably just going to borrow it. Can't wait to play this, looks right up my alley. I'm going to waste many hours trying to make on huge combo through levels (that is possible right?).
AirBrian said:Cool.
And yeah, some of the levels can be one big combo. So much fun.
Going hand-in-hand with that is what we believe is the most intriguing and ultimately rewarding part of the game: its combo system. The combos separate the men from the boys, or maybe it's the apes from the monkeys. As Kong makes his way through levels, you can intuitively link together moves in order to multiply your beat count. You might, for instance, jump into the air, grab out for a number of beats, catch onto a vine and swing forward, bounce off two walls, collect more beats, jump back into the air and latch onto a bird, fly it across the screen, jump to another vine, grab more bananas, and keep going. The bigger combo you can string together, the more beats you gain, and the level of satisfaction earned after you've strung a major set of moves together is immeasurable. It is the primary reason why you will continue to play Jungle Beat, even after you've nabbed all the medals.
Pedigree Chum said:Haha, I just realized that it's the same price for a used Gamecube system as it is for the game + bongos. Damn. But it'll all come up to $120+tax in the end
I wish there was a cheaper way to go about this.

AniHawk said:Wait, I have an idea. The other day I bought XIII, FFCC, and a $5 PS2 game from EB. Cost me $19. Sold 'em at Game Rush and got $29, for a nice $10 profit. If you do that twice, you could get the game + bongos for roughly $20 less.
Pedigree Chum said:Don't live in America, that kinda shit is insanely hard to pull off here in Canada since we don't have lots of electronics stores that sell games at $5. For us, a deal is getting a game for $5 off MSRP :/
