I hate how “adult animation” has now kinda devolved into any American made animated show with foul language that caters to 17 year olds. It’s kinda sad how poor quality and lacking in wit and self awarenessthat this stuff has gotten since the golden era of adult swim. When I think of great adult animation, I think shows like South Park, Sealab 2021, etc. Hell, even family guy was incredibly smart and biting with its cultural commentary when at its best. Maybe its just the old man yelling at clouds in me, I don’t know…I just don’t see any of this new stuff pushing boundaries.
It's only ever going to be as witty, funny or clever as the people writing it. And this speaks volumes.

Come Monday, or later this weekend, there will be an article about how she has had to endure toxic fans, racism, patriarchy, etc. and basically blame every other ism for this show's - most likely - failure.
Six months from now, she'll probably get a gig doing the same bullshit treatment to The Jetson as Judy or a subversive take on Cheers with an all-female. Whatever it takes to keep failing upwards and blaming all of us on the bottom.
I just don't understand how they didn't know this would suck from the word go here?!?!?!
Oh god you're probably right... LOOK HOW STRONG SHE IS!

And thats why Youtube took away dislike showing. They don't want people to know a garbage is garbage. They want to people to praise that garbage.

Chessuz, is that real?

My god, those writers are either going full retarded or admited mentally ill.
To be fair to the show, every one of those statements by Velma is followed by her getting curb stomped and, in Daphne's case, pissed on as well. Pretty epic if you ask me!

And youtube said it was for "The small channels that can't get many views." But it was obviously for corporations

Yes, that's real and pretty much the extent of the show's "comedy" along with sex joke and vulgar humor. Basically it's written by edgy 17 year olds who've never been out of Washington, or Oregon or California.

Would you mind sharing with us these pics? 😏
Oh no!

A rift in the Multiverse happenned and many Velma's in different shape and sizes have lost not only their way home, but they also often loose their glasses. Now they need YOUR help to get find their nerdy glasses and a way home.

Beware! You can't help her at work! I wouldn't recommend it. Nuh uh. Surely not.

Best example I can think of is FOX/WB rejecting Seth MacFarlane's take on The Flintstones. There is a fully produced pilot that was only seen by a few TV executives.
Pitching a series live action or animated to a bunch of stiff TV execs was cutt-throat. Velma is one of many examples of us now seeing that maybe all the old execs are retired or dead and people just sit at a table holding up 1-10 scorecards without any dialogue. Or execs are requesting these type of writers come out by opening webinars.

Seems like the only thing you need to get a budget and stamp of approval today to launch a series is: pitch something that already exists, take everything from existing IP and make it cool for the current social politics of Americans. Sold.

What not to do: Don't be a Mike Judge who bases characters on real life people or satirizes American society, never create a 'new' story or character, make sure no one gets pissed off and be as PC as possible.

Just another example of "go woke, go broke." Sadly, it seems Hollywood has a stockpile from the previous heads and creatives that it's going to take awhile for the new ones to burn through it. Though, it's not for a lack of trying.

Cue the apologists, "It's not because it's woke, it's because it's bad." Those things are never mutually exclusive.

It’s weird how many children’s shows are being remade for an adult audience. Some people just don’t seem to want to move on from their childhood.

This looks like pure trash. Who wants this? Adults with a fondness for scooby doo want actual scooby doo like they grew up with. This is like something that took Scooby Doo as a base and mixed in what 40 year Olds think edgy and cool should be. That's not even talking about the woke shit.

Velma's not black for what it's worth.
Most if the folks complaining didn't bother even getting context, they just saw brown skin and went off. The amount of people concluding she is black and heading straight for the comments on multiple sites im on is funny.

I checked with imdb reviews at random and both were accounts created that day.

Im not saying the show is good but its funny to me how predictable the brigades can be.

Don't think the studio cares though. If it does numbers if will stay. Given zaskavs antics in guessing thus might have been dead in the water already tho.

Did any of you guys actually try watching it? I watched it with very low expectations since it seems to be universally panned by left and right. Plus I don't like Scooby Doo anyway so don't care if they ruin it. I have to admit I laughed a few times. Wasn't that bad to me.

Its probably not as bad as the internet is making it out to be. It's probably a mid show with maybe 1 or 2 decent gags and a bunch of weak ones.

But I can't get mustered enough excitement to actually sit down and watch it im busy these days.

your comment is funnier than anything in the show

People who are only complaining that this show is woke are missing the other side of the coin, because the woke crowd actually HATE this show. I was on twitter recently when Mindy Kaling was trending, and she was getting tons of hate for this show, for saying something transphobic in the past, for having a writer who once described herself as conservative, for a me too joke that they viewed as anti woke, and for writing "another brown character who is self-loathing and seeking white validation." Not my words, but that's what was being said.

It seems everyone hates this thing.
