Videogamer.TV: KSI and Xbox: Why Microsoft Got it Wrong

I had never heard of the KSI guy. I watched the video in question and it was kind of funny. I'm pretty sure the joke was how offensive it was. This uproar is kind of like getting mad at Borat.

Do you think it would be okay to walk up to someone on the street you don't know and say the things KSI said? If not, why does it make it okay if he's at an expo and has a microphone?

i kind of want him to do a video about the blurred lines around youtube commentators in general like he mentioned in the intro. i find how they present themselves as genuine people shooting the shit but get tapped up by all these big companies kinda troubling. way more than all that 750,000 polygon nonsense.

Wow, what's the point of even making videos like this (the KSI one)? Good on Matt for calling him out. But I must also point out that I hate the videos Matt has made where he goes around game conventions swearing at pretty much everything. There's no reason to be dropping f-bombs in public like that. Matt's abridged videos are exceptional, though. Just brilliant.

KSI used to be funny before he got to where he is today.. Not surprised though he's getting pulled up on these matters judging by his recent content.

That's not the point at all.
Allowing this guy to represent a corporate and what kind of a message it is sending out is.

Then people complain, why aren't there more girls in this business. Promoting harassment of the highest order.

Saved one of his awkward moments videos just in case he removes them too :P

Does this mean that girl KSI harassed on camera can get his video taken down? I mean, unless KSI filed paperwork to broadcast her likeness and profit from it.

I saw the original this morning. That's quite a crude thing to say to someone out of the blue like that. Reacting like this and filing a copyright complaint shows the heat got too hot for him.

KSI was one or the numerous youtubers who got famous talking about fifa and especially fifa ultimate team, because here in europe it is extremely successful, and EA makes tons of money just by selling packs of players to teenagers willing to put real money for virtual goods.
Anyway,at the beginning he was pretty critical about the game, because the serie had serious issues for years that have never been addressed (those problems are the reason why i'm not a fifa player anymore)..but then EA realized that they could use those youtubers as advertisement...so they pretty much "bought" all of the bigger ones (for one period they repeatedly told on twitter that they were looking for youtubers with more than X subscribers for a "collaboration")..organized paid travels for early-looks of the new FIFA and all of a sudden those youtubers are now totally ok with the game.

Well played. I suppose he would argue that he recorded the video or whatever bullshit excuse he'd make.

Fucking hate people who censor stuff. At any level. Whether some random guy like this or a corrupt government.

Waiting for it as well, I liked Matt's other work, although I think we'll agree to disagree on Killer is Dead. I watched the video with KSI, hadn't heard of the guy before, but that was appalling.

Huh..I find some of KSI stuff quite funny but I hadn't seen the video in question until now..and it's pretty fucking unacceptable.

His video where he hands out awards at E3 was so good.

There are no excuses to treat women like shit, in or out of their job.

"They're a comedian"

"It's for shock value"

I don't give a shit. You don't fucking do it. Plain and simple. This guy shouldn't just lose sponsorship, he should be doomed to irrelevance like anyone who treats women like shit should be. Maybe a tasteful scripted video of something along these lines is acceptable, but there's nothing funny about the situation and it should not be tolerated by anyone.

Probably sucks to be that person getting roasted but nearly everyone else in the crowd gets a laugh out of it

I think you're grossly exaggerating the number of people with a severe mental illness in the world capable of getting a laugh from sexual harassment.

This KSI guy seems like a genuine scumbag. First acting like a pig towards boothbabes and now answering to critisism by using copyright claims. I hope this is not going to end well for him.

I don't know who this ksi guy is but why videogamer tv talking about him? who cares what he does, they be hatin ...

I didn't know who he was so did a search for him on YT, this is the first video that came up.

Bloody hell, I didn't make it past the second girl, "How much would you suck dick for?".

How the fuck does he get away with this? Matt is bang on in his video. How the hell could Microsoft endorse this guy?

I know we're all hating at the moment and I agree, but I just want to say that the first girl is exceptionally pretty.

What she said made me think of the Doge meme:
"So magic, such an insult".

KSI is a cool dude. He has both consoles as well.

Fair enough this guy doesn't enjoy KSI's sense of humour.

I don't appreciate this dudes whiny videos. Turned it off after a minute.

Sense of humor? Did blatant sexual harassment suddenly become funny? I generally believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion without judgement, but in this case you've got some problems to work through if you think this is funny.

Some of the stuff he's done is technically assault by the standards of the criminal code in most jurisdictions and he could have been arrested for it.

The sad truth is he's just pandering to his audience with this kind of behavior. You can't really knock the hustle.

The sadder truth is that MS and EA are clearly incompetent as shit to employ him in the first place.

Circle of life....

Those videos have been on youtube ranging from 4months to 1 year and they haven't generated outrage, sponsors willingly provide him with financial aid because they agree with what he does.

You don't give money to someone to represent you without knowing what that person does, what his shtick is, his persona is being an asshole, a juvenile representation of gamers hence the 4+ million subscribers.

This is basically the same behavior that the guys raising money for cancer research doing motorboats act on and judging from that thread there are people on GAF that condone such behavior.

Yeah, thank goodness for severing ties. (It took this long?!)

He's not funny, and really has no respect for the people who have the unfortunate luck of being interviewed by him. Some of those things he said to those women were supremely offensive- and then insinuating sexual preference for others and being derogatory was just immature.

The sad part is, this git was just on CBBC apparently. WUT!

Also Videogamer.com now can't monetise any of their youtube content for the next 6 months because of this copyright strike against them. Shocking stuff all around and once again another example of Youtube's incompetence.

Yeah, thank goodness for severing ties. (It took this long?!)

Yeah, I'm not really buying that MS wasn't aware of this guy before hiring him to promote their new console.

Good on them, sincerely, for severing ties at all. They certainly didn't *have* to do anything about it. But, the cynical part of me can't help but think they got the exposure they needed from him, and rolled out the first chance they had.
