Vita "hacked," (PSP) homebrew on the way (not piracy)

You need to put the ftp folder in the exploit/savegame folder. EVERYTHING HOMEBREW has to be there, IIRC. NOTHING goes in the emulated PSP files besides gamesaves, I think.

For those of you wanting to play PSX games via emulator in an emulator (YO DAWG...):

--It DOES NOT support PSX. By emulating 6.60 pops modules I get PSX working, but there is no sound, so better let it be.

So in theory you can do it, but you won't get 100% accuracy and I know one of you wanted to play Tony Hawk, but no Superman for you. Sorry. :(
Tony Hawks underground 2 Remix for the PSP :)

Feels good, man. Great to finally be able to play my Third Birthday w/second stick.

Ok I'm stumped, someone help me please. How do I get FTP onto the Vita itself? Do I have to use VHBL? So far the only thing I have working is TN's 6.60 using Mad Blocker. What am I supposed to do?

For everyone asking about FTP.

Install this

http://wololo.net/downloads/index.php/download/7673

Using the typical add-to-save-game method.

Once it is installed, run it and it will give you an FTP address. Go to that address in Windows Explorer (or through an FTP client) and you'll be able to see your PSP sandbox layout. You can add and delete stuff easily through there.

Unzip the INSTALL.ZIP in there. Take all the files (4 of them - data, icon0, param, and eboot) and place them together in a folder called FTP (make sure its caps). Place THAT folder into a folder called GAME (again, caps) and place THAT folder into a folder called PSP (caps).

So you should have PSP > GAME > FTP > inside are 4 files.

Take the root PSP file and compress it to a ZIP file by right-clicking it. You will get a file called PSP.zip. Change this to PSP.ZIP (zip to caps). Once you have this PSP.ZIP, put it in the save game folder where your exploit is. Use CMA to transfer it to your Vita (overwrite when prompted -- size should be bigger than before).

Run the Mini and it should pop up.

Let me know if this works for you.

Exploit Save Folder<- HOMEBREW.ZIP <- PSP/GAME/HOMEBREW/EBOOT.PBP and whatever files it comes with.
Transfer the save using opencma just like you transfered the exploit the first time.
The incoming filesize should show up as bigger when overwriting.

I have the INSTALL.ZIP for the FTP app in the correct folders uploaded if anyone needs.

Just drop the ZIP into the exploit folder and transfer the save.

This still isn't working! Do I place PSP.ZIP within 'NPUZ00210CPMEM' or beside it.

edit: I'm placing it within the folder. Tried renaming the zip to HOMEBREW.ZIP, still not working =/

Thank you, this worked :)

edit:nvm... It shows up, I press X to launch it, but it says "do you want to extract this package". I say yes, and then nothing happens. the vita FTP icon just dissapears.

just a quick question. im trying to copy over my backup of Kingdom Hearts BBS i have the iso named as "KHBBS.ISO" in the save data folder.

The game shows up correctly in the loader but when i press x to copy it i get a crash. any ideas?

Use FTP or PSP Filer to create an ISO folder at root.

I got VITA FTP running. Connected to it on my Mac, but it won't let me copy any files over.

edit: is it a problem if Vita FTP is telling me 0 MB free on my Vita screen. I know that's not the case though.

Damnit, my wife actually wanted to play her WWE 2010 and 2011 games and apparently both of them don't work. Unless I'm naming them wrong?

I've read the last few pages of this thread and I'm totally lost. Is there a homebrew for dummies guide anywhere?

I'd like to know what I'm able to do right now and where/how to install the files.

What did you do to get FTP working? I'm having the same problem you had earlier where I would extract and the FTP icon disappears.

I want to take a shot at redesigning the theme but the readme is too vague, anywhere I can find more detailed info or mockups?

Did you make the filenames all caps (including the extension) and less than 7-8 characters?
Yes .ISO needs to be in caps, drove me crazy as well

Excuse me people, I've backtracked 4 pages and I don't quite know where to start.

I have the game from PSN.

Is there a step by step guide anywhere?

EDIT: Nevermind

Yeah, the weird thing it copies over ftp fine but it's slow as nails. I'm gonna rename it to see if that helps. 2011 shows but doesn't load. It goes black.

That ZIP file I download wasn't put together right. UnZIP it, and click on the PSP folder. ZIP that. It should be 'HOMEBREW.ZIP' and within that ZIP file are "PSP>GAME>FTP>EBOOT.PBP'

What it was before, which is incorrect, was 'INSTALL.ZIP' and within that "INSTALL>PSP>GAME>FTP>EBOOT.PBP"

Basically you just need to get rid of the install folder in the zip file.

Can anyone try NHL 94 on Picodrive? Everything else works, but this doesn't even show up to start. I have 10-11 other titles that all work just fine.

My bad, I copied the wrong folder and didn't check the contents.
The earlier link has been updated.

The earlier file probably put an INSTALL folder at the root.
You can go ahead and delete that once you have access to FTP.

I must be doing something wrong with emulators.

I put a .ZIP archive in all caps within the Mad Blocker Alpha save data exploit.

SNES/PSP/GAME/SNES/EBOOT

It shows up when I get into the expoit, but it only asks me if I want to extract it when I click it. No option to load it or play, am I missing something?

Extract it. If you compiled the zip properly, you should then be able to play it.

You should install the FTP app though. Once Sony releases a firmware update, it will be the only way to add more homebrew files/apps.

Seriously? It's outdated as fuck.

No my problem ::P

And

For some reason only 1 game I've tested works on this. Crisis Core. I have that compressed highly as a CSO. The WWE ones I left as ISO's. I haven't worked on this stuff in a long time since I backed up everything. I guess I'm gonna need to convert them or re-rip.

i edited my post, the dl link in the tutorial i posted was updated /w the latest version + all the save files for diff versions. just posting again for clarity.

Yeah, that tutorial only makes 1/2 sense, and it's barely in English.

I mean: "After downloading the files, just copy your version then to your Vita´s savegame folder"...

"make shure the folder´s name doesn´t exceed 8 letters and it must be written in CAPS all of it,and use the STORE option when zipping:"

wat

Is SNES the first folder inside the ZIP?

Alright, 1 game works lol

Tried converting my WWE 2011 file into a CSO and it shows but doesn't load. I'm gonna chalk it up to bad compatibility. I would have bought it off PSN but that still goes for 40. We got the UMD version for 10 ><

I haven't tried my RPG's like Star Ocean 1/2 and Valkyrie Profile among others. That's for another day.

Put a zip file in the hacked game folder called, PSP.ZIP, PSP > GAME > FTP > stuff. I was able to click on it, it extracted, then it disappeared. I read about this problem pages before and that solution didn't help me.

EDIT: It worked

Name of folder of homebrew cant be more than 8 letters and it must be all caps.
(EX: HOMEBREW.ZIP)

Winrar>compression type: Store>Save as .ZIP > Name file in all Caps and less than 8 letters.

Shits easy. Just follow the steps. Go over the tutorial a few times as its a bit tricky. PATIENCE is a virtue.

PS: Make sure when you compress the file, the folder structure is as follows:

-PSP (root folder)
--GAME
---"HOMEBREW" folder (all caps less than 8 chars)
----EBOOT.BIN goes in here with all files/roms etc

**At this point use Winrar on the root folder (PSP folder that has all files) and do the method I posted above.
