Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

Just picked up a Vita today and it seems pretty awesome so far.

I bought the 32GB Memory Card so I was thinking of going pretty much strictly digital with my games. Does this make sense?

Mostly grabbing the free psplus games and also Persona 4 because it was on sale. Looks like a ton of good games available/coming out though.

I almost forget that physical games exist for the Vita sometimes. Any time something comes out my initial instinct is to head to the PSN store to buy it digitally.

Personally, I'm nearly fully digital... I've got one retail game (need for speed) and the thought of swapping it out and replacing it with something tangible sends shivers down my spine.

Besides, I'd not be able to find it now anyway... The amount of slots that all look the same on the bloody thing. WTF are all those for anyway?

I'm almost full retail except where it's not possible or it's PSAS (Crossbuy.) My 32GB is filled up with PSP and PS1 games, so I don't really have a choice and I don't like micromanaging my games. Besides, I want to start a collection, and physical is the way. Stranger's Wrath HD and EDF also have a spot on my card, but only out of nessecity.

Just looked up Dragon's Crown and man, what the fuck is up with that game? What pervy 14 year old did the art for that game?

Sigh...

I think if your a guy and you enjoy porn, You lose your right to criticize Dragon's Crowns' artstyle. Lol

My GF was on a Hotline Miami spree yesterday running through all the levels. She loves that little game. It was refreshing to see the enemies randomly refreshed with different weapons compared to my playthroughs. Gives you a reason to go again.

I still swear the game should have heavily aggresive and persistant AI for a huge challenge boost!!

I have a mixture between retail and digital I'd say 60/40, plus 2 PSX games and 1 PSP on my 16gb card. I have almost 5gb left. The reason I bought my digital games was that I was too lazy to go to the store :p. The rest are download only.

I try to make a point of buying physical if I expect I'll want to sell/trade in the future, otherwise I'll go digital. That said, my Vita games are probably a 90/10 split in terms of not being available at retail so it's not a consideration for most games.

Killzone and Tearaway I'll probably pick up physically. Then sell them when/if they get heavily discounted in the future (if I'll play them again) or appear on PS+.

I've got £16.00 left in my PSN wallet after repurchasing a few titles for my EU account, so I'm looking for some suggestions on how to spend it. Interested in some PSP titles that I might've missed, as they're generally £7.99 so I could buy two of them.

i'm all digital, except for the 1 retail game a fellow vita gaffer sent me for free! - woulda had two but i lost the AC:Lib that came with my vita.

purely digital on my 32gb card is where its at. and yeah i have a nearly full card but 4/5 of it is "rented" ps+ stuff that i don't REALLY want/need on it. i'm sure by the time i need more space i'll just buy a bigger card ( and sell the 32) as switching between two cards really defeats the purpose of not going retail...i mean the biggest reason to go digital is to have your full library on the system at any time!

I'm apprehensive about PJM HD because I bought both the PSN and PSP versions and never got very far. They gated off a bunch of the levels unless you get x number of rainbows and I couldn't be bothered because it requires what I felt was too much trial and error to get a perfect (rainbow). Did they change any of that in the new version?

Still loving Hotline Miami. It's just so easy to pick it up, run through a few levels and put it down again. I'm not even trying to improve my scores, I'm just playing it for the fun of it (and the incredible soundtrack).

Trying to work through my Vita backlog to clear up a little room for new stuff I haven't downloaded yet is a slog. Why are there so many good games on this little beastie?!

I'm in the same boat. Bought it on PS3 and PSP, but I'm not terribly good at it so I never got far.

I'm still buying the Vita version because it's on the Vita, so I'll try that little bit harder to get into it.

Ditto...bought the PS3 version years ago and while I like the idea of Tower Defense Im never any good at them so I didnt get very far in PJM...will wait for a sale on this one.

Gladiator Begins? I dunno if it's on PAL region PSN. But that's my usual recommendation.

I'm 100% Digital too. The only part that pains me is seeing the price tank after you bought the game at Day One price.

I hope companies come up with some way to incentivize buying Day One digital. Not so much about giving a discount on Day One but more like limited edition goodies etc? (I would prefer some credit/cashback down the line) lol

I was going to go all digital on the Vita with my 32 GB card, but then I bought Ragnarok Odyssey, which is one of the worst in the genre.

I'll never get that money back

A loyalty scheme will do wonders. Accumulate points on PSN which you can then use for further discounts and more games will be cool. Credit Cards do it, I don't see why PSN can't.

Looking to get Lumines, Wipeout and HSG. Is EDF 2017 worth it if I enjoyed the 360 version? If I buy Sound Shapes, can I play it on PS3? And what's a recommended case?

Excellent first game choices, HSG and Wipeout are a blast, I've had them since launch and I still play both regularly. I just got Lumines, buf its fun from what I have played. I also recently picked up EDF. It's my first EDF title, but I am loving the huge scale of chaos it brings to the handheld. As far as a case, I swear by mine, though its a little big for some. It's about 6x6x2in. Its the PDP Pull and Go Folio. Holds 23 games, charging cables, 2 mem cards, portable charger, and has inner removable case. Gamestops, Best Buys, Amazonias usually have them, 29.99 american monies.

I almost always go full physical for my games, too. Yes Im a member of the 32gb tribe, but if I can get it physically, I certainly will. I hate jugging for space on a mem card. Plus my case holds 23 gamez, hoorays! I have about 8 slots left, then I might start considering the more digital route. Maybe...

Tactics Ogre and Valkyria Chronicles 2 are always good choices :)

Something like Club Nintendo would be awesome but that's not quite what we would want right? Trading cards? :P

About 80% digital. Just so easy to click on store and buy. Can't stand carts or the slot on the Vita. Press a button and go is my style. Hope PS4 is the same.

I'm still buying the Vita version because it's on the Vita, so I'll try that little bit harder to get into it.
This is exactly the position I'm in. What is it about the Vita that makes me take this stance? <3

is Gurumin still not on the EU Store?

The only physical game I have on Vita is Project Diva f, the rest of my games are all digital. I've bought quite a lot of games but luckily no regrets so far. Even Ragnarok Odyssey--the camera's broken but I did have fun doing the missions solo. Especially the
boss fight against the giant outside the city gates.

One advantage of physical though is not having to worry about making room on the memory card for the game. PDf is a large game (3GB?) so it's nice not to have to sacrifice that amount of storage while having it installed all the time.

I'm Retail for major Vita titles.

If it's DD exclusive like "Battle of Z" then I'll go for it. But Space on Vita is just as valuable as money... until Sony fixes this shit lol.

I save space with retail so I can enjoy PSP, PS1 titles without hassle. If I'm feeling luxurious, I'll throw a PS+ game on there since I can spare 3 gigs or less.

Not sure if it's just me, but I find I tend to play games more when they're digital copies because I don't have swap out/look for the cartridges.

Especially if there's a physical game I play a lot (e.g. Project Diva) it generally occupies the slot most of the time anyway.

just played a bit more soul sacrifice on my lunch break. Decided to do the warewolf side quest. Beat him the first time. Just like cerberus but diff element and effects. Got him to red then dark pact to finish. another 470 score.

last quest was to face him again. Solo. In a tiny arena....... with god damn spider things that glue you to the floor when you least expect it. Now considering this guy hits freaking hard (like all my life bar but 5%) its a death sentence if your got by one.

I did get it down to orange a few times but then had to give up as lunch break is over. Looking at my stats im only lvl 10 light and 20 dark. Think i need to lvl up a bit and get more defence before attempting that again haha. Its a 6 out of 10 difficulty quest so that explains a lot.

I will come back for you later Warewolf.

Game is so damn good.

I'm retail for my vita too. I have a few digital games but all of the large ass patches have been bringing my size file down.

God, I wish Sony could have Microsoft's small patch deal.

Had my first travel with my vita last weekend. Played a lot of Persona, Wipeout and Playstation All-Stars. I'm really suprised about the battery life in flightmode! Didn't expect to hold it that long.

Now I only need to finally beat this horrible Void Quest Dungeon in Persona. Aaaaah.

I don't think it was released in the EU physically, so probably has no publisher to handle it.

it got released on UMD in europe.

505 Games being shitty or just don't care about Vita owners.

I'm on chapter 5 in Soul Sacrifice, this is the final one right? game has been fantastic so far.
Yes it is. After that, you still have Avalon Pacts IX and X to go along with a bunch of Forgotten Pacts that I haven't bothered to complete yet.

Welcome to VitaGAF.

I don't recommend 100% digital, even with a 32GB card you'll run out of space eventually, and then you'll start regretting it. I went almost entirely digital on my PSP (picked it up after Sony started making digital a requirement) and as much as possible with my 3DS as well, but on the Vita it's just not feasible, the [average game size] / [maximum card capacity] ratio is just too damn high!

Personally I buy retail whenever it's a game that I know I'll finish and then never touch again, that way it doesn't waste space on my card (and I can also resell it in the future, although I rarely resell my games but it's nice to know that the option is there). For any game with "unlimited" replay value (fighting games, rhythm games, UGC games) that I know I'll want to permanently have on my Vita, I pick digital.
