Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

While I loathe Injustice, I hope it's a quality port for those of you interested...

From what we've seen so far I think it looks like a very well done port. As a superhero and mortal kombat fan I can't wait for injustice as well. Haven't decided if I want it on Vita or PS4 yet though.

About Amazing Spider Man, I played it on PS3 and for whatever reason I just cannot imagine a healthy port of it on Vita. I feel like there might be too much going on in that game. Seems ambitious for a port.

I was just watching an Injustice video a few hours ago, it looked fantastic! No clue it was coming to vita, just heard the MK guys were doing something new, where did you ... ok lol:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8m4izQnJYk

watching now, fingers crossed

ohh that's why you guys were talking about the MK engine before

lol it's in the OP as well, sucks EU gets it at the end of the month but we'll at least get to see some impressions. Not quite able to tell with the offscreen video.

It should be. It's still sub-native res which is really unfortunate, but the character models are way better than MK Vita, and many more of the lighting effects and shaders are in-tact. So it should be good.

Tbh I was pretty happy with MK but that might have been because that series always looked shit to me haha

Glad they worked on the effects and hopefully the framerate is still nice. The characters look so fun to play.

Made by the guys who did the MG HD collection for Vita apparently! Good good. Ultimate edition nice! The level I'm watching looks a tad muddy in the video though, OLED should help with the darker colours. Wow it does look good, can tell in the next level which is brighter. Still got that UE brown but whatever.

Hope it's not 3GB like MK, ultimate edition as well...

Just noticed there's a demo for the portable version of Lego Marvel Superheroes on the 3DS eShop. Tried it out and it's a surprisingly fun beat'em up! When it drops in price on the PSN I think I'll pick it up

I like it better on 3DS. Really good 3D effect.

But yes, it is quite fun. Have it on 3DS and Vita (handed that one down) and the WiiU game.

AusGAF! Big W's doing a pretty amazing deal for the Vita next Saturday, November 9 (one day sale). System with Killzone for $188.

I mean, if you can even find a Big W that actually stocks Vita stuff that is.

Yeah its still 60fps so it will still look really nice, all things considered.

Demo on 3DS, but not Vita? They must be embarrassed.

Hahaha that wouldn't surprise me at all.

I swear it's like they bank on sales of people thinking it's like the console game..

Ooh maybe you could answer this then: In the 3DS game it looked like a couple things needed to be done on the touch screen. Like flying or landing was swipe up and swipe down. Is it the same on Vita? Is there a button press way around it?

^ hows the lag? Any better...? Guess I should try it...have to switch out cards -__zzz

Nice deal, Infernal Monkey.

I saw a gameplay video of it a little while back and although there were seemingly button presses for all (or maybe most) of the moves, they were never explained as you play (as far as I could tell), only the touchscreen things. At least they included them.

I wanted to get it, but is it fun enough? The console version looks incredible...

That's probably it. :/

That's a great deal. But I haven't seen a Big W in well over 10 years, everything here is Target. That said though you could just go to EB Games and get them to price match.

Oh wow that's amazing. I have one and I'm tempted (got a white import) just so I can have another OLED model.

Hey guys, I was in the Amazon 3DS Vita thread and I had a poster telling me that the Vita has a greater input lag than the 3DS. Is this true? He compared Vita as playing on a 360/PS3 on a lag free TV while 3DS was like playing on a PC.

I never noticed this while playing my games but if this is noticeable on multiplats I'd like to know. Anyone here who double dipped on some multiplat games? I'd like some comparisons.

There's no dedicated servers?

Nope.

I don't buy it.
Based on how the games I've played on 3DS are... no.
DKCR3D was horrible in terms of input lag and controls.

Must be game to game basis.

Okay thanks. :)

Seriously. DKCR3D felt like I was playing Enslaved, Heavenly Sword, or some other NT game. ;)

But I don't notice anything super different between the limited time I spend with my 3DS and the vast amount of playtime I give my Vita. :|

I've never noticed. But even if it were true, we are talking about something that will never be noticeable by human beings, lol.

Besides, if that were true, we would have definitely heard about it on any news site or even on GAF. So I'll take it as not true at all.

lol at the gif.

Alright. I'll take this myth as BUSTED.

Did he have a Nintendo based avatar? I wouldn't trust him if that's the case.

Maybe he is right, I haven't tried any multiplat games on both systems, but the games I have played on the 3DS do not feel anywhere near as responsive. But that could be from the floaty controls on the games I have played.

He doesn't have an avatar at all.
to hide his propaganda :p

So I take it that 3DS has the same if not greater than the Vita's input lag. Rather this might be a game to game basis like Heavenly Sword and DKCR3D has a horrible input lag, it doesn't represent the capabilities of the system well.

The vita analog sticks have a larger deadzone than the 3DS nub, which would account for a tiny bit of input lag, but his console/pc comparison makes no sense in the first place.

Well that sucks.
---------------
Must be game to game basis regarding the lag.

Okay thanks. :)

I've played MGS3, VLR and Rayman Origins on both the Vita and the 3DS. Vita versions are so superior its not even funny. Graphics, smoothness, you name it.

Damn. On 3DS nor Vita have I ever said to myself anything concerning input lag. Maybe I'm just playing the right games? Or you guys or going after some really slight stuff that I just don't see

It's a Nintendo 3DS thread. Not everywhere on GAF is as nice as VitaGAF.

DKCR3D seems really harshly reviewed by most of the VitaGAF. So maybe you are playing the right games.

I never noticed this deadzone. Might be because I haven't come to grips with the system yet since I just bought it recently. What I'm more concerned about the nubs is that why they didn't make the same nub as the PS4 which has a concave. They didn't even do this for the Vita 2000. It would have good too.

This could be true... but I find that the CP is much less responsive... not sure why. I am not a fan that thing.

I think it is dependent upon the game -- and if we're talking "multiplat" there's not a lot of those for Vita/3DS I believe. And most of them have 3DS as the lead development platform... so... yeah, take it with a grain of salt.

Gunman Clive responded really well for me when I played it.
For that matter, why is Gunman Clive not on the Vita yet? I'd get that for $5-10.

DKCR has atrocious controlling. Whether that is the games fault or the systems fault I'm not sure. The 3DS needs Spelunky for the ultimate test.

I was thinking that too. We would've heard from Esoteric if there was any perceivable input lag when Spelunky came out.

If the system had it on the whole, I'm sure someone playing any of the 60fps fighters would notice it in spades.

UMvC3, SFxT, MK9, DoA5+, etc.

I can't use Ninja Gaiden Sigma+ as an example because it's 30fps and has slowdown... so that's hard to decipher... ;)

That's why the poster who talked about the input lag seems unbelievable to me because I play DoA5+ and I never notice this.

Play a game/navigate the home screen and wiggle your analog stick left to right bit by bit. It has quite a bit of wiggle space before an input registers. Or at least mine does.

Either way as far as inherent input/display lag there is none. You can boot up UMVC3 on vita and counter a 5 frame super startup from wesker just as easily as you can on the console version. Blockstrings that end with +2 or +3 frame advantage are also just as safe and I've never had a problem with them (abeit using the dpad and not the analog stick). Same goes for the 3DS, 6 frame evades in MH3U are consistently hittable and I've even done nearly perfect 10 frame evade speedruns. They're at parity as far as I'm concerned (though most 3DS games run at a lower framerate in my experience).

His PS3/360 on a lagless TV vs PC example makes no sense because there's no input lag on either playing fighting games on both. So it sounds like he's already talking out of his ass in the first place.

You're right I noticed it once I tried to do what you said.

I think we can already dismiss anything he or anybody else says about the Vita's input lag at this point.

Edit: Why did Sony ever let go of the MH franchise anyway... I miss it... At least until I get my hands on a 3DS.

Awesome dodging on the MH vid BTW. I approve of your skills.

Any Killzone pros up in here want to give me tips on how to get an ace ranking? This is impossible...

Don't play the game for three weeks and login. That's how I got my ace rank :p

Maybe you could try using another weapon category. I don't know if the ranking is over all card colors or just for each category. If it is for each category, than going outside of assault rifles could be less crowded. Maybe that's why I got my ace rank.

Finished The Walking Dead on Vita today.

Great game. Horrible port. If you're thinking about getting it, I really advise you to get the PC or console version instead unless you have absolutely no choice.

I have heard that the console versions have the same problem with loading stutters. The PC version still has the save game killing bug.
In the end, every version has its problems although going from PC to Vita was rough.

I only played the first episode on PC and that was like a year ago, but from what I remember it was mostly fine. This game on Vita suffers from severe stuttering and pausing and other problems.

There is a significant pause/hitch/freeeze before any conversation/action choice. Sometimes it is only a second or two, oftentimes it is several seconds. Then there is a pause after you make a choice/action. And as you can imagine, this happens a fucking lot during the game. Sometimes you don't even see the whole animation (or even any of it) after you press the action button. I've had instances where I chose to kill a zombie, the game froze for a couple seconds, and it just sort of skipped over the killing of said zombie. Sometimes, during action scenes the framerate is so bad that you end up dying because you can't even move the reticle to the "action spot" in time.

In addition, I've noticed several instances of lines of dialogue that were unsaid. A couple of times there were significant graphical glitches. One time the game just froze on me. And I'm not mentioning the constant lengthy loading screens you'll be staring at throughout. I'm not sure if it was a lazy portjob or what, but the Vita can surely do better.

You should make a thread about that offer you've caught. Prices in AU$ are higher than the US$, right? I think I read the Vita costs around 230-250 there.

I played through both the PC and Vita version so I know of the problems.
I just wanted to say that telling people to go buy the console version over the Vita may be a bad advise because they have problems of their own.

As it stands, only the PC version runs well but has the save game bug which Telltale isn't bothered to fix.

How long until Oct PS+ games expire? I'm contemplating on buying a 1 yr ps+ or a 1 month ps+. I have no money so I gotta scrape some for the 1 yr one.
