Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

Just played Assault Android Cactus demo on PC. I could said this game is a beast for Vita.

EDIT: Top page!
Everybody should have:
Patapon 1+2
Yep, that's it

Oh man, the Vita price drop is finally happening in Australia and I'm going to get one. It's dropping from $350 to $270, but retailers are offering their own deals. Just saw an ad for a Vita plus Killzone for $255. Pretty tempting but I don't want any physical copies, I wonder if I could sell it?

One of us. One of us. One of us....

Anyhow, errrr...

Play KZ:M anyway that you can, that's what I've gathered from a brief stint with the beta. Not to mention, all of the media/publicity/impressions the game has received.

Someone with Twitter should ask the Gio guy to try for:

Demon Souls PSVita

And

The anniversary iOS ports for GTA 3 & Vice City for Vita.

I have a 500GB and I find it plenty for the moment, and I've been a PS+ member since November. Of course, I don't keep ALL of the single-player driven games, only those I like to play regularly.

With that said, should you decide to buy a 1TB Hdd you can always use it for something else (PC Part or for the PS4 if you buy one).

False edit : Ah you already bought it ? Just keep it imho.
Thanks. Yes, it's sitting in a box next to my ps3 right now. Going to install it today. Screw it. More space can never hurt. If my PS4 starts to feel cramped because of all those huge ass next gen digital games, then maybe I'll swap the two drives.

Man, my purchases this week have been a bit of a bust.

Having a hard time enjoy Spelunky as the controls just feel a bit clunky and the game seems unfairly difficult, especially after just finishing Rogue Legacy, which had both awesome controls and a more balanced difficulty.

Also picked up Dragon Fantasy and Retro City Rampage, both of which I really, really dislike.

And I missed out on the $9.99 LBP sale this morning. Bah! Not my week. :(

Yay, new thread ;)

Vitagaf's Top 20 Blabbermouths in August (well 21, Baron Von Beans and breaskfuss tied):
wallofshameaugust6zsra.png

Weak month for Toto but he still managed to make the list with interesting Tearaway discussions in the end of the month. Frost dominating the month with an impressive number of 358 posts (June and July top posters were <250).
Overall, it was a good month with 9,556 posts (June: 5,735; July: 7,228). Gamescom hype or growing Vitagaf?

my first wall of shame

T___T

thank you all, Im extremely honored!

smh x 20000000, now who of you guys suggested this to Noi?

thread title should highlight the most important things for the month, like this

Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Killzone Mercenary (9.9) FIFA 11 (24.9)

Keep at Spelunky. I thought it was clunky myself for quite a bit and then it finally clicked and now I feel like the controls/mechanics are perfect.

I agree about Dragon Fantasy and Retro City Rampage though... I didn't enjoy either of those.

Yeah I don't get the thread title at all. It's actually a good month for big games.

It's from that Token Indie Logo fiasco where people cried about some corporate banter.

Killzone will have it's own OT anyway.

We should absolutely not be supporting FIFA.

Lol. I skipped the last 2 FIFAs on the Vita. I might finally pick up FIFA 14 depending on the price.

I'm sorry man :(

Happens to us all. I will cure my pains by simply buying another game. I'm up for suggestions: Looking for something I can kind of relax and lose a bunch of hours with:

Thinking about Persona 4 (have never played a persona game)
Disgaea 3 (have never played a Disgaea game)
and possibly Virtue's Last Reward ( Never Played 999)

Thoughts?

Buy Persona 4, it was my first persona and I loved it.

This was a great interview by IGN. Yoshida said that some of Sony WW studios are also working on Vita games. The IGN interviewer had an excellent lead in to see if he could get Yoshida to elaborate on upcoming titles. Yoshida didn't bite, Lol. They talked about remote play and how there will be minimum lag. Also Yoshida hinted very hard at a PS4/Vita bundle saying "Never say never". Good interview overall.

Yoshida Interview

It annoys me sometimes how companies sit on announcements until their ready but I understand the practice. Sony just got that 3rd party team together so I'd say Vita is going to have content POURING in 2014. Besides the multiplex of indies... We're gonna see the rest of the AAA's pour in till the new wave. If Killzone and Tearaway mark as 2nd Wave AAA titles... that should stretch till about March of 2014 where we'll start seeing 3rd Wave titles emerge.

Persona 4, it's probably the most welcoming out of the three you're mentioning, and without having played 999, your enjoyment of VLR will be diminished, from everything that's been told to me. Persona may seem a little intimidating at first, but if you want an enjoyable, lengthy RPG, you can't really go wrong with it.

I said I was busy because I bought a portable Tank and didn't post anything for like two weeks.

At least you got him aware of the game. Good idea

It's better to ask the developers themselves directly, they are doing a kickstarter and listening to what people are saying right now, if they see many asking for Vita in their KS page they'll add it to the goals (and Since PS3 ports to Vita are easy)

Not true! VLR is an amazing game that stands alone. If you've played 999 then there are moments that will blow your mind, but VLR is a 10 out of 10 whether you've played 999 or not.

I suppose technically your enjoyment is diminished... but there is still lots of enjoyment to be had.

Just tweeted Shahid to get on the Mighty No. 9 train. Make it handheld exclusive to Vita! Probably not going to happen but one can ask ...

Regarding the missing Legends levels, just get Sony third party relations involved. That must be resolved as I want the Vita version!!

Good thinking. I'd love this game to be on the Vita. Should I tweet him too?

Yeah, saw that a week or two ago. I'm sure there's only a small handful of Vita games in early progress, and the amount of manpower that goes into them will probably depend on how Killzone and Tearaway perform (I'm thinking 1 mil and 800k), but I still can't wait to see what materializes.

Hesitancy to show any cards too soon is probably just Last Guardian syndrome.

You would think that with the success of Soul Sacrifice, Inafune would already have Vita in mind....... :/

Yeah Vitabros have to show out. Since Gamescom, the install base has risen quite interestingly enough. You can even see the effects right here on GAF. Since we already posses a high attach rate, We need to adopt these titles (Killzone, Tearaway) in order to show Sony AND 3rd parties that there is money on the table for Vita. That combined with a behemoth PS4 launch keeping the Vita heavily backed shows signs to a once "dead" handheld being revived rather vicariously.

As I said before, The install base is only growing. Its neither stagnant nor diminishing. As along as new titles keep appearing, Vita will expand.

My point was that most people argue that playing 999 enhances the experience of VLR. I'm not saying that VLR can't be enjoyable in its' own right, not at all. :)

Thanks to difficulty settings its whatever you want it to be. Easy is easy and beginner is a cake walk.

Awesome! I know it isn't cool to admit it, but I am really looking for an easier game experience right now. Between Rogue Legacy, Hotline Miami, and Spelunky, I am tired of absurdly hard games. :)

Yeah this is pretty much the AAA month of the Vita. Also why is Dragons Crown game of the month when it came out in july, august, and soon in october, totally skipping september. Seems strange to go for an older game when Vita gets 2 of the biggest releases this month with Killzone and Rayman.

I just finished Lego batman on the vita. Fun enough diversion, but too simplistic for my tastes, but it is also extremely easy so that may be right up your alley lol

Game of the Month isn't to showcase new titles. It's determined by voting.

That is what I am leaning towards. Seems like a good way to sink dozens of hours into a game. How is the difficulty?

Dungeon crawling is easy no matter what difficulty.
Also if you will be going for platinum then difficulty below normal will make it almost impossible to get risette trophy.

It would be great if Killzone can sell a million and Tearaway can get at least half a million. Not sure if they can do more than that.

All of the insane gameplay is intact though, and Disgaea isn't really something I'd play for the story.

Worst Disgaea characters & story is still enjoyable, too. Just not AS enjoyable as the rest. I'd recommend getting Disgaea 1 from the PSP section, but the series did improve and expand upon lots of mechanics and systems as it went on. Also, even though it didn't get to HD sprites until 4, Disgaea 3 still looks sharper and cleaner than it's predecessors.

On top of that, a newcomer to the series isn't going to have "blah, this isn't Laharl and Etna" muddying their experience and coloring their preconceptions.

It's still the only one, so far, that you can get on Vita in physical form... which is cool imo.
