Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

Also, EDF online is definitely dead. A few months ago, people would join a few minutes after I hosted a game, but now nothing.

Ah well, it was fun while it lasted.

well can't blame anyone here, the game was way too overpriced when it got released so it was months and months of very tiny userbase no one will keep trying the online and now with the sale I doubt the old people will return.

Eh, I disagree. I haven't seen anybody who actually hates GR, but many (myself included) see it as extremely flawed. And I'd hate to describe myself as "hardcore" (since I have other hobbies), but I do play games often.

You are in GAF, but well, you can be a mid-range gamer or something. And I don't think hardcore are people that spends like 10-12 hours gaming and don't do anything besides this. However, it's just my opinion.

And I don't write that is hated. I say ignored because there are lots and lots of people that don't know anything about the game. PS+ has given it some mindshare, but I think there are more people that know games like Dragon's Crown, for example, simply because of that silly boobs discussion. I was talking about "ignoring". But I'm not a native speaker, so i may use the word in a bad way.

But yes, the game has flaws. But when you put everything together and see the game as a whole I think is a very enjoyable experience.
I'm in chapter 13 or 14, maybe the game gets worse later.

BTW I'm giving a try to Wipeout. It's fun, but I hate time challenges because I always end like 0,5" above the elite medal time.

So far I've just started the 2049 tournament. In 2048 I ended always in 1st position with 4+ second advantages. Now they are kicking my ass. And I feel the game feels faster too. Maybe I'm used to slower racings

Maybe the stealth EDF sale will revitalize the community for a bit.
Maybe. :(

Finally got internet again! However, I seem to have run into a problem. I bought Rayman Origins when it was on sale; everytime the download gets to the final megabyte, the download fails. Has anyone else had this issue? And if so, how did you fix it?

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I bought some other games, and all of them have downloaded successfully.

Does anyone have experience with ordering custom skins for their Vita? I'm interested in possibly getting one for mine.

I personally did not enjoy Killzone Liberation. Think I got it for free too, back when PSN was down.
I bought it now on the EU sale. It's ok, worth the low price for the few levels I've played but I'm not sure it's worthy of 600mb on my memory card.

I've had my eyes on EDF for some time and would live a sale on it. Current price is like $50 in EU...

Oh man just wait until you get to 2050. 2050 is really difficult. Those damn zone challenges really killed me.

I love Spelunky. I can't stop playing it. But I really hope they fix the slowdown on the snow levels that have the Yeti King in them. If you have a really good run going, those are murder because they are even harder to play than they should be.

I am kind of happy that I haven't bought NLKS. Wanted to support it but didn't have any money and in the end PS+ delivered.
It's very charming but the game has its problems. There are severe framedrops and the controls are bad. I don't understand why the camera can't be fully turnable, so last gen. Switching between units could also be better, instead of just having one button, use the touchscreen or the shoulder buttons (precision mode isn't important). Overall, the unit controls are very clunky.

At first I thought those festivals after a subboss are a nice touch but now there doesn't seem to be anything happening? Nearly 4 hours in now and only rescued one princess so far. The script is quirky and funny like many small things in the game (swimsuit law^^). I also like the artstyle, which many think of as a downgrade from the Wii.

Right now, I would say it is a solid game but no must have. There are many better choices on the Vita.

Resistance Burning Skies is the easiest game to have a platinum on confirmed? I'm not complaining though, it felt good to get everything on your first playthrough :P The game was tons of fun btw, definitely worth the 9 pounds. The last 3 chapters become better graphically and the game has solid gameplay. I'm not sure why it's looked at in a negative way to be honest.

Because they released it for 35 pounds ;)

Finally got my first ever Platinum on VITA :D

I was looking forward to Legends but after getting Platinum for Origins, i am a bit burnt out on another portable Rayman so i will avoid it for a while.

What should i play next until i get my hands on KZ: Mercenary?(Have it pre-ordered)

Gravity Rush, Mutant Blob Attack or Virtue's Last Reward?

That slipped my mind for a second XD I guess that raises expectations when it comes to its length and graphics. Still though, the negativity was really strong back then. It's not like the game is broken. Uhm...maybe it being the first proper FPS also plays a big role to how it's perceived...

I already bought all the Gravity Rush DLC, isn't that enough? :(

No, because you shouldn't have bought the military DLC missions for GR. :P

Seriously though, I have no clue about NLKS' DLC stuff. I've played it for about 1-2 hours, it's pretty good!

Virtue is 30-40 hours so a bit long for that.

Is that normal playthrough or getting all the endings?

Sounds much longer than I expected. It's also a backlog game thanks to PS plus. I guess it won't be a game to finish quickly...

Last firmware update made my vita not like my wifi router (or vice versa). It just can't see the router at all unless I reboot (as in cut power completely to my router), and then my vita sees it. But it disappears again when the vita goes in sleep mode :/

Congrats, now play Gravitiy Rush, my GOTY 2012.

I though the campaign was fine and actually better than retribution a (I played it after and though its campaign was pretty crap). Yet reading reviews would have you believe burning sky's was less than generic and retribution a was fantastic.

My issues with it were
- online was a laggy, low frame rate buggy mess
- campaign was to easy apart from final boss which was needlessly hard.
- cut scenes were very compressed.

I paid full price and have no issues with that. I traded it in eventually though because of the issues with multiplayer and no real reason to replay campaign. At about £10 it's fine.

So does the US PSN have that buy 1 year of PS+ and get 3 months free promotion? Cause if it does I'd be better off buying $50 credit and getting a subscription through the store, or would straight ps+ cards work?

Congrats!
I got Origins Vita platinum aswell. It was fun learning the ins and outs of the levels going for platinum, really made me appreciate the great level design.

And I'd say Mutant Blobs Attack due to it being the shortest.

Guys. I NEED Killzone: Mercenary.

I have a UK accout on my Vita for better Plus games and deals, can I buy it from German Amazon without worrying about DLC/MP updates or not?

I need physical cards since my internet has a dreadful download speed and I share games with my brother, plus waiting for a UK money card always takes forever.

As an aside to PS All Stars being $9.99 on Amazon, I also saw Super Monkey Ball for $5.99. I got it when it came out. Not a stellar game, but fun enough with a nice presentation... that price is dirt cheap for a retail game.

Hey guys, anyone play Dokuro or the new Sly Cooper on Vita? Looking for more stuff to get on PSN right now, with my Vita arriving later this week.

I'm so curious about what games will be coming courtesy of PS+ to Vita in the coming months. I'm pretty happy with this month because I held off on Origins, felt this coming and I've never played GTA on a portable before. It should be some amount of fun I'm sure.
Anybody want to take a guess at what may be coming next? Or what the big 3 games are that are gonna be rotated in in November?

For those I would have to say: Sly Cooper, LittleBigPlanet and Assassin's Creed

Dokuro is alright. Not a fan of its art to be honest. Just played it till the first boss. Might pick it up again.

Sly 4 is a ok port but has severe frame rate issues in some places. It is also 30 fps instead of 60 fps on PS3. I'd say the problem on VITA is not the frame rate but the long load times between each level. Although, once a level is loaded, it is fully explorable without any additional loading so its not so bad.

Sly 4 is an awesome game. Really enjoyed it. I didn't have any framerate issues that I can remember, but I didn't play it on PS3 for comparison.

The character art and music is really the only thing I like in Dokuro... kind of feels like a storybook Ghosts & Goblins in that aspect. I like puzzle platformers too, but the backgrounds and level design are just too boxy and plain. Could have used more variety, detail and some parallax. Everything's square and symmetrical to facilitate the box pushing, but some notching here and there, and the illusion of terrain shaping would have gone a long way to making it feel good. I paid $20 for it, and then bought the physical JPN copy at a premium just to have it. It's ok, but people who got it dirt cheap or free don't even like it, so not recommended.

I bought Rayman Origins when it was on sale; trying to download it now, and it fails when it gets to the end.

You should just be able to tap on it and select resume.
