WaPo: Kushner wanted secret communications channel with Kremlin

And it makes no sense for them to use Russian equipment that can't be monitored by American intelligence agencies if their goal was just to talk about Syria.

Not to mention you'd want intelligence monitoring the call to make sure Russia isn't feeding BS to manipulate two novices in the role. There really isn't a good way to slice this.

Yeah, that part is really odd. The only thing I can think of is they're hoping to claim ignorance and say Flynn suggested that as a method and they just nodded their heads. But like, that'd be simultaneously claiming you're some of the dumbest people on the planet.

It all seems like a ploy to claim an extreme degree of incompetence and ignorance in the face of overwhelming evidence that they knew exactly what they were trying to skirt around.

None of their bullshit excuses even matters, did Kushner disclose these meetings to all proper channels and on all forms he signed? No? Then he needs to go.

There's a pretty interesting Twitter exchange going on, but it's not threading so you can kind of click here and then click back through the Retweets.

What's interesting is that it confirms what everyone probably suspected; the NYT's "sources" were straight-up speaking on behalf of Kushner, not remotely neutral. What's interesting is this:

Scott Wilson @PostScottWilson

We talked to these "people" too. We would not publish their account unless we could signal they were speaking for Kushner. They refused.

and then the response of:
Will Saletan @saletan

"Three people with knowledge of the discussion." "The people familiar with the meeting." How is it not obvious that they're Kushner allies?

So basically they gave information as mouthpieces of Kushner, refused to let WaPo reveal them as such, so WaPo refused to relay their information. NYT then comes in and spreads their version couched as people with knowledge, but not explicitly Kushner mouthpieces which is interesting in that it's not that NYT had different sources, it's that WaPo wouldn't repeat that piece of information without being able to clearly identify it as propaganda. The second quote isn't a guy from the NYT, but it's a guy from Slate defending the NYT's description.

That's... a thing.

That's very interesting and illuminating.

If it was for Syria then we have a private citizen attempting to use secret Russian communication channels to facilitate policy change in Syria. Kushner does this so Flynn can effect the Syrian conflict. Flynn received half a million dollars to further Turkish interests. This includes Turkeys opposition to the US' cooperation with the Kurds in Syria.

We could have a situation where Turkey paid Flynn to effect Syrian policy and Kushner helped him create a secret, extra governmental, communication channel with Russia to do so. That's two scoops of fucked.

The problem for them is that the time has passed for them to use that maneuver. Trump just wouldn't back away from the dude to save his own ass!

Yep. Trump's desire to defend and bring back Flynn keeps getting in the way of the rest of the administration's attempt to use Flynn as the fall guy.

It kills me that the right's best defense is to willfully misunderstand why anonymous sources vetted by credible institutions are trusted. They're taking advantage of people that are unfamiliar with bedrock principles of journalism to prop up the most inept administration in American history.

Who cares what he says anyways

The important part is they're not smart enough to stop him from tweeting

I doubt Trump came up with those and typed out those. Sentences are too well thought out and structured. They even deleted few of those and slightly adjusted sentence structure before resending.

Someone in WH is using Trump's account to tweet out.

Was about to say, that first tweet hedges its' bets a lot with the 'it is my opinion' shit

I think the lawyers jumped on that second tweet, it's gone now.

Never mind that it's illegal to delete tweets as president.

Fuck this guy, they should start burning some of the sources where it would create massive embarrassment.

What do they want with Russia anyway?
Its kind of like Fargo season 3.

The Trumps have taken a boat load of cash from Russian interests to stay afloat and let's just assume that they've said "we want to end the deal" and Russia have noped the fuck out of that option.

Reporter: In a previous interview, the information came to light on [insert news story here]
Official: These leaks are a danger to the security of our nation.

JUST NOW: DHS Sec. Kelly addresses Jared Kushner/Russia back channel reporting

Edit: In same interview he also said that leaking is borderline treasonous act

Some of the replies to that tweet are on point:
Sec. Kelly just condoned 'espionage' as "lines of communication" and a "smart thing to do."

— planejane‏ (@EarlOfGroan) May 28, 2017
Former CIA Deputy Director John McLaughlin said it was in the realm of espionage and former DNI James Clapper says:
CLAPPER ON RUSSIA: "They are not our friends ... Oncoming administrations don't get a head start before the current POTUS' incumbency." #MTP

By Arguing these leaks are fake, trump is destroying his outs.

He can't argue now that Kushner and flynn acted without his kknowledge.

He keeps denying and defending.

He's guilty as fuck and too stupid to not get caught.
