Lol what did I miss regarding Outlast? Seen a few dudes mention that game in this thread

That's one way of doing it:

I think we have every right to be considering we spent hundreds on next gen console and have been flat out LIED to.

Lied to? In the original reveal, gaffers were pointing out that it was running on a 680 - far outclassing the upcoming consoles.

You'd have to spend hundreds more to have a powerful PC.

The problem is that the game won't look like the initial reveal even for those with a powerful PC if Far Cry 3 is anything to go by.

Honestly, the white knighting is even more annoying. "How dare you question her until you play the finished game!" Oh brother...

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with the fact that the trailer looks poor, but you really do need to have the final product in hand before you can definitively say the game looks terrible. Maybe the final build does look better? Maybe the recent trailers were old builds?

You never know. Maybe the final game looks just as bad, but you can't jump to conclusions.

This kind of gets at what's been bothering me.

I hope I'm not alone, in hating the new Aiden character. Not design so much, as personality. He used to be a guy who went to far trying to protect his family, pushing them away as he became Batman, to where it seemed like even his colleagues aren't supposed to trust him. Now he's Max Payne with a phone. And who thought his new voice was alright?
I thought he was always a bit too brutal. Even in the reveal gameplay he executes an unarmed man (let alone killing civilians by hacking the traffic lights). That's not batman, that's punisher

There are at least two people on this thread who are insistent that the game does not look any worse than it did in the reveal, just saying.

Yes lied to. The latest reveal doesn't even come close to matching any trailers they put out for "next gen" versions, I don't care what hardware it was running on it was outright dishonest.

Yeah. Especially when the PR rep is smokin' hot.

Lol thanks...but wow seriously? I loved outlasts graphics. Obviously not the greatest looking game on the planet but I would never use the word "crappy" when describing it. She seems kind of clueless IMO

If she appears clueless, it's likely because there was no PR strategy or word from the higher-ups on how to handle a controversy like this. She's doing the best she can in a bad situation with likely no good guidance from Ubisoft.

Edit: It doesn't make the Outlast comment any more necessary, though. It's not a good thing for a PR person to say anyway you slice it.

Not to mention that Outlast had a smaller budget and dev team than Watch_Dogs! I bet if you gave them the resources UBI gave the Watch_Dogs team, it would look a shit ton better! (Not saying it looks bad, cuz it doesn't!)

If there is enough of an outrage we will probably get a video from Ubisoft showing off the graphics. Remember how all the bitching about stealth in Splinter Cell made them put out videos to desperately try to convince us that it still is a stealth game?

If I remember it right the first image is from a cutscene from the reveal video. The cutscene had higher quality assets even back then compared to ingame.

OK, that makes sense why they would cut back a little. Kind of sucks the new design looks like some mercenary as opposed to a nerdy hacker.

I can't wait to read further input from you on this forum

LOL thought the same thing.

I'm glad the hate train is going strong. I wasn't able to sleep last night. I woke up sweaty and gasping for breath as I remembered the difference in how the cars look. The blurry texture. The bad concrete sidewalks.
NO
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm kidding but game still looks like bad graphics wise

Totally agree! It's straight up hilarious she went there with outlast, an indie game which was made by a team of what...30 or 40 people if I recall correctly lol? Crazy

Why don't they just put a PR guy on their Twitch stream and run some gameplay so people can see for themselves? Like, in a week's time or whatever, prepare a demo segment and run it.

I admit, got a chuckle out of me.

Honestly though, even if the graphics did get downgraded which I admit sucks, if the game turns out to be fun who cares? Titanfall has some really bad textures, but the games enjoyable and I can get over those textures.

Man... it probably doesn't even need to be said, but this thread has achieve full meltdown status at this point. I don't even know what to make of all this anymore. Somebody hold me.

I hope people are ready for exactly the same story to happen with The Division.

If this happens with Division then there would be no "they didn't know next-gen specs" excuses.

This kind of marketing technique needs to die already, I don't even think the games looks bad (apart from that gif and some spots) but they set people up for disappointment and mislead them.

Show the game when it's ready to be shown and it's representative of the final product, not an hard concept to grasp. And, if some things change down the line, just be upfront about it.
