is that jung woo sung? what movie is this?

The leaked footage doesn't only look worse from a technical perspective, the whole thing screams focus-testing. Maybe it's just me, but the game's style looks and feels completely different. Less dark and techny, more colours (that don't fit in) and it reminds me a bit of GTA V's artstyle. Not exactly, ofcourse. Way uglier.

Now I don't want to judge a game by it's trailer, but man.
What a shitty trailer.

And man, that gif makes me sad.

Nothing is true, everything is permitted. © Ubisoft

Still looking forward to it, though.

Wow. Reveal trailers are complete lies put out by liars. I can't believe it. I thought trade shows were the last bastion of honesty and journalistic integrity in the world.

I'm watching the Polygon video that went up a little while ago and it shows clips from before and currently... And it is definitely noticeable. I'm wondering how THEY didn't notice and talk about the fact that the game has been NOTICEABLY downgraded.

Gosh, I'm a little frustrated with this. Even the videos that were being shown a few months before they were going to release it in November look better, what on earth was the reasoning for this change?

I think the footage from that video looks fine, sure it's a significant downgrade though. The OP just picked the worst possible gif where a helicopter spotlight was on the car and made the lighting look off.

Next gen starts coming around the corner, games get previewed that don't actually look like they're games.

Next gen consoles release, previously previewed games suddenly start looking a whole lot like actual games and don't match older better looking footage.

I feel like this is a rollercoaster ride we've seen enough times to stop getting surprised by it.

Have any press who were at the preview event talked about the discrepancy between the graphics? Seems strange that none of the previews have mentioned it. Wonder if there was stuff they had to agree to not talk about?

Note: Only read Gamespot and Polygon previews so far

It's not just a console generation shift thing though. Ubi has a track record of stuff like this. Far Cry 3 also suffered downgrades. Some that really didn't seem necessary on PC.

Next up in august; a press release from Ubi how releasing the same IP year after year is justified because their latest IP WatchDogs' salefigures were lower than their employee-count.

Character models are definitely impressive, i would say they are the only thing that haven't gotten downgraded. Do they use the same model/fidelity during gameplay as they do in cutscenes?

Did anyone not even watch the whole video on the site that this awful gif is taken from?
http://www.everyeye.it/ps4/articoli/watch-dogs_hands-on_21862

It's clearly been cherry picked from 90% decent looking PS4 footage to kick off more stupid downgrade arguments. I'm pretty sure there is current gen footage mixed in there, Look at 2.28 in the video. It looks considerably worse than everything else. That is very likely the PS360 footage, and probably so is the section where the gif is from, because the rest of the car footage looked totally fine. I have no idea why this guy has a mix of videos, but it's unmistakable, OP should of posted the actual website link, because this thread is totally ridiculous and nobody even bothers to check for themselves and decide to rely on a crappy gif as the consensus for judgement.

No way that's PS4/XBO, but even for PS360 that kinda looks like shit for a 2014 game. Still, guess I was naive to think that it would be at least the same as the original reveal.

After the half 2 bs reveal I've never trusted much. This is old hat in the industry.

its cherry picked because its the only part of the footage that you can do a direct comparison with. They're both night shots with a car jumping a bridge while being chased by a police chopper with a spotlight.

I watched all of it....

Still a downgrade.

Really? I think the cutscenes in Infamous look much, much more impressive...

The main characters in Watch Dogs are more detailed, no? The skin shaders, textures and llighting are more natural.

I'm looking at the recent-ish trailers that include in-engine cut scenes.

Hmm is this what crossgen looks like for the next two or so years :/ ? Looks a bit like "jack of all trades master of none". But on the other hand this is ubisoft even if they dont deliver in terms of gameplay the graphics usually end up looking amazing and i hope this will be no exception.

Gameplay wise it could still be fun but it does not look very pretty. That's a pretty big disappointment for me too. I was expecting it to be one of the first "next-gen" games. I guess it coming out on ps3/360 should've warned me otherwise.

Game reveal in 2012 was truning on a high end PC far more powerfull than a PS4 or Xbox One. Of course there is a downgrade.

This.

I can't emphasize how much more powerful an Intel Sandy Bridge processor was at that time when compared to what the PS4 and Xbox One have, and that was what most PC gamers were running (that I knew, anyway).

That has to be current gen vs next gen. I mean, that looks like the difference between the new forza and San Fransisco Rush on ps1.

I seriously hope we are at the very worst, seeing either Last Gen textures or DDR3/Esram textures, I would have liked to say, to target 60fps, but 30fps??

Game will crash hard if this is NextGEN, esp PS4.

It does look downgraded though. Especially in the gif scene. But the worst part of the video you shared is that the lighting has changed. Everything in previous videos looked like the lighting wasn't pre-baked on to all objects in the world. Now, the lighting looks pre-baked and makes the game look last gen due to this lighting change.

And the spotlight is directly on the car in this gif which makes the lighting really look off, which is the main reason people seemed to be turned off by the gif.
