What are the chances of Metal Gear AC!D being redone for the US market?

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
I was just looking over some videos and info of the game and it's quite clear that in its current state, the game will never sell here in the US. So I kind of thought that maybe KCEJ should "open" the game, if you will, and get rid of its card-battle restriction and grant the gamer full control. To those who have the game already: would KCEJ be easily able to do this, or would the whole game probably have to be re-worked? Just curious.

The game is released near launch, Kojima knew that Sony would ship only 200k units by the time the game hits the market, Kojima is the vice president of KCEJ, the game uses MGS2 models, the game has no voice, the game has no 3D cutscenes. I doubt Konami needs big numbers for this game to profit, and making a whole new game out of it would cost even MORE and it would sell all the same honestly. :P

So the simple answer is: no. :)

Aint gonna happen...

Must agree with mr junior here. It would require opening the GDD, TDD and forming the team again, if even partially. Then some focus grouping to ensure it the change is good, lots of QA, Certification... Nope, nej, nicht, non.

Thanks for the junior kick ;)

Anyway it was Kojima himself that said the psp could not doa "proper" mgs title.

I think we will see a "real" mgs title end up on the DS.

Card battle games rule dammit! I'm still hoping that SNK will one day realize that it needs to make a follow-up to Card Fighters Clash.

From what I've seen, Acid's main roadblock to US release is its story, which has some really funked up overtones. Easy enough to play with the dialogue and rework that to be a little less bizarre.

It'll probably sell alright in the US too... I mean, it's got "Metal Gear" in the title. That's not quite the guarantee it once was (before Kojima turned some folks off with Raiden's bare ass and levels named after anal parts), but it's still good for around 200,000 sales or so... more than enough to reap a profit.

Heh, anytime :)

I recall the reason for not doing a proper MGS was controls. Something about the small, delicate movements needed to play and how it for that reason wouldn't be suitable for a portable. I understand this very well - just think you are sitting on a bus, playing MGS, hiding behind a box and then the bus drives over the bump and you are exposed. Not cool. Wouldn't be any different on the DS, either.

Kojima didn't say the PSP couldn't do a proper MGS title. He said that the portable form is not suitable for the MGS game style, but it's in 3D and hence requires more attention and is more sensitive to movement, aiming, etc. Things that are not easy when you're on the move, which is the entire point of a portable. If we see one on the DS it'll probably be another 2D title like MG Ghost Babel.

Oh and don't mind us, junior members have proved to be completely retarded quite a bit lately, so it's unusual to actually have intelligent replies from them. :)

If no MGS title hits PSP in the west I'll eat my own cock.

Someone make a note of Folder's challenge.

Also, Kojima is a nutty bastard if he thinks a decent "proper" MGS couldn't be done on the PSP. Hell, Metal Gear Solid (Ghost Babel) for GBC was awesome and it only used three buttons. PSP has six buttons and a nub--it should be able to handle a game three times as good!

Personally, I think if Kojima wants to concoct weird ass stories for his games, he needs to hire Kenji Eno as a consultant. I'm pretty sure Mr. Eno knows Urotsukidoji personally.

I read somewhere that they didn't want to do a proper MG title for the PSP because the analog nub was too sensitive. Anyone else see that article/interview/whatever?

I don't see why the NDS would be excluded too. The Babel title offered many features that MGS had, which basically played like a 2d game even though it used a 3d enviroment. Besides, the NDS offers a perfect control scheme for shooting matches! I would really like to see another sniper match done, now that there's a better control setting available.

Metal Gear AC!D is going to get redone for the US. Redone in that the hijacking stuff on the plane is going to have to be changed. If it doesn't Konami gets "Balls of the Year Award" for 2005.

It's not so much the fact that the plane is hijacked as how f'in graphically they show it.

Yeah nice high res knifed pilot and copilot in the cockpit...

If I didn't have to sit through the horrible Terico opening sequence, id take pics.

Dont forget this statement!
I won't if you don't.
Are you *insane*?
Do you actually believe that there will never be a MGS title for PSP other than AC!D in Japan?
It's now a safe bet to ignore the self-important, often deluded ramblings of Kojima.
My only hope for the game, whenever it hits, it that it's not unplayable boring.

What's that?

Kinda like an attract mode demo that shows up the minute you start a new game.. except it is mind numbingly tedious because you can't control the text speed, you can't control the character, and you have no fuckin idea what is going on.

All in all, one of the most horrific mistakes since the cut scenes in Sawaru Made in Wario.

I'm not sure what to believe. But I guess the chance that we'll see a "real" Metal Gear game is bigger than that we won't see one. :P

No they don't. They're random shitty strategy games. Even sometimes strategy require some luck, but turn-based games with card are the worst.

Can you explain some further?

tetsuo, in other news I read on 2ch that MGA is at least 24-26 hours long. These are Japanese players playing it so I assume that'll be with minimal time spent on text reading. So what are you doing here, GET BACK TO THE GAME AND GET US MORE IMPRESSIONS! :)

Oh and are there any bosses yet? I haven't seen any mention on the gameplay threads in 2ch, only about stuff unlocked after clear and that there are 14 missions total. It would be weird if there were no bosses.

Can anyone make some videos/pics of the opening sequence of MGA? Just so we have something to compare when the title finally hits over here.
