Same 2 as the op for me: super Mario Odyssey and Metroid. My PC backlog is being appreciated through a new PC, and I don't have an x86 twin. So Odyssey and Metroid are the only things remaining that can generate the hype to break through the feeling of "I don't need more games."

Edit: There should be more love for Xenoblade 2 in your lists, the 1st one was one of the best JRPGs.

Just Pokemon Ultra Sun & Layton's Mystery Journey on 3ds
I do intend to get quite a few others but not at release (Pillars of Eternity PS4, Vampyr, Hellblade, Elex, South Park, Dragon's Dogma, Undertale PS4, Cities Skylines PS4, Uncharted, Mario Odyssey, Middle Earth Shadow of War, Battlefront 2...)
I'm hoping Divinity Original Sin 2 will get a console release at some point

Yakuza: Kiwami is a no-brainer. It's only $30 and I like to support the localization of this franchise (in the vein hope it'll come to PC someday).
But that's really it as I the only other game I would've purchased day one without hesitation (RDR2) was pushed back to 2018. However, I do have my eye on a few 2017 titles that I will likely pick up during the Steam winter sale if they review well, such as Assassin's Creed Origins, Wolfenstein II, Call of Duty: WWII, and Middle-earth: Shadow of War.

Ys VIII and Super Mario Odyssey are definites for me. I'm waiting for reviews and general impressions for Agents of Maybe and CoD WW2. I kinda expect Agents of Mayhem to be this year's Battleborn, so I should definitely wait on it.

Only game on my mind is Destiny 2... Probably others i will get day 1, like south park. But Destiny 2 is an absolute, must-have day 1 game!

Sonic Mania (Switch) – August 15 - Sonic was a solid franchise on Megadrive. Since this is firmly 16-bit era Sonic, we know what to expect. Style over substance, but I'm okay with that in this instance.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 full release (PC) – September 14 - I already own this one. Just waiting for it to be officially released (not touching the early access build). Larian is a special talent in this time of bland open world games.
Gran Turismo Sport (PC, PS4) – October 17 - Don't let me down, Polyphony. GT on PS1/PS2 was top tier. Please be good.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole – (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – October 17 - So long as South Park's creators are on board, this can't go wrong, even with a different dev team. I hope.
Super Mario Odyssey (Switch) – October 27 - Will this be on par with the Galaxy series? Criminal that those games are still stuck on Wii.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch) – holiday 2017. The original is a classic, and I'm anticipating this to have more personality than Chronicles X.
