You have to keep in mind that this criticism is from a vocal minority. As vocal as it might be, at the end of the day, it's an extreme minority that's a very small fraction of the actual fanbase. There's lots of franchise that get shit on online but still sell great from installment to installment.
The Revelation games were both co-op, PT was a free download, and HD remake, while selling good, isn't close to the sales of the action oriented co-op titles. Are we sure it's the only way to go?
People can hate me all you want but man I always want Chris Redfield every time a new piece of Resident Evil media is coming up.
Dude has been one of my favorite game characters since getting
when I was like 8(heck, I bought RE1 within a week of getting the figure and mainly because of it).
wtf, that figure doesn't even look like Chris. What company made that figure?

Was based on the Concept art of RE1 characters.
ToyBiz
Same for Jill
Like re1 and re2. Atmospheric and downright frightening.i just want a great game and a return to form of what made it popular in the first place
They're going to try to do RE4 again is my guess (a scenario detached from the canon enough so as to remove expectations entirely, and a rethinking of the staples of the series while still quintessentially constituting Biohazard), while also taking the opportunity to re-establish what defines the franchise after the divisive reaction to RE6, so another action TPS isn't a safe bet anymore.
I'm going to expect the unexpected. And Becky.
edit: yeah, ToyBiz. Man, everything they made was so bad. Even as a kid, I wanted higher quality sculpts over more articulation. Some of their Batman (Tim Burton era) vehicles were pretty cool tho.

I'm not sure how anyone still has faith in Capcom at this point.
especially after the Remake's success on PS4 and Xbox One.
At least they were attempting video game figures.
In all we got
Darkstalkers 3
Diddy Kong Racing
Mario Kart 64
Marvel vs Capcom
Resident Evil 1
Resident Evil 2
Tomb Raider
X-men vs Street Fighter
And Zelda OoT lines from them.
Zombies?
I personally feel they scrapped Resident Evil 7 and then restarted. They've got to have made some big decisions especially after the Remake's success on PS4 and Xbox One.

They have some of the best IP and talent in the business, they're just broke and their executives are knuckleheads.

Considering that The Last of Us has a lot of elements reminiscent of Resident Evil 4, I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Capcom approach the next entry in a similar fashion. I can't imagine the story being as good, but I feel like there's a lot there they can do with that style of gameplayMy expectations are low and I'm going to keep them there. Hearing Capcom mention TLOU as if they might be taking inspiration from it spells trouble, they just can't stop trying to mimic other devs with totally different skillsets.
Hell, even Mikami himself couldn't totally recapture the magic with The Evil Within.
A darker slower game, that mixes RE4 style controls and vast breadth of environments but uses more resource management and fear. I want Ada to star, she's long overdue to appear in something with more heft to it, in terms of her story. Could serve as a sort of reboot too. She's sent off to infiltrate X place, and uncovers a brand new virus or whatever. Something really dark and scary.
Also save rooms. With haunting, yet soothing music.
Aya is a plot device in a red dress. She only works as a "Who's side is she on!?" manipulator on the side of the protagonists adventures.
