What should I name my dog?

Great thread. I'm gonna get a Shiba Inu. I'm thinking of the name "Johny two times"... or just simply john.

OK Fat Andy. I really wanted to get a Shiba badly, but my mom has dog allergies so that would not fly at all as she'd be the one to walk him and be around when I'm at work most of the day. So my choices were pretty limited to breeds she knew didn't bother her that much. But I'm very happy with this little guy.

I wanted to get a female Shiba and name her Kimiko-tan after 30 Rock which about 4 people would get, two being myself and my sister.

Castor and Pollux are extremely common horse names. Fits a Great Dane or Irish Wolfhound as a funny name maybe but not much else.

Nemo, Remus, Ajax, Felix, Rollo and Ramses are pretty typical dog names, at least where I live. Oscar is a great name but an extremely common human name, which you said you didn't want. Felix too for that matter.

From your list I like Hanzee, Cato and Oscar.

I named my Havanese Professor Moriarty and my next dog will hopefully be a Bedlington Terrier named Sherlock.

hahaha! aww man, i need to binge watch 30 rock. I feel pathetic for calling myself a tina fey fan.

I think Hanzee, Oscar, Torin, and Morty or Marty are my short list right now. But really it's down to Hanzee and Torin if I'm being honest, cause if I named him Oscar it's because of Arrested Development, which in that case I might as well call him George Michael or Hel-loh for full comedic effect. And then I really only like Morty/Marty because I really enjoy repeating dog names excessively like Rick and Doc do, but you can really do that with any name, though they are great sounding for it.

Didn't see the point in making my own thread but I'm getting a female dog soon. What is the general thought on the name Nyssa?

(I googled apparently it's suppose to be Nee-sah, but some say it's Nis-ah. I prefer the former.

Laika, in honor of the first dog to live and die in space. I mean it's not the same breed, but the name is cool and it would bring up an interesting conversation when anybody asks.

I had this neighbor who always named his dog "Prince".

He must have had at least 5 Princes that I know about.

When I ask him about it he said that it was the only dog name he knew.
To be clear, this was in the early 70s and is not related to any singers or members of a royal family.

I think dogs like names that are monosyllabic. Something you can bark at them.

I've had dogs named, Max, Rex, Ben-J, Mickey, Nikky... can't even remember the rest.

Gaf would make a good dog name.
