I'm expecting a mildly prettier TP.

I don't want to set myself up for disappointment.

This is a little risky but I'm expecting a more colorful game than TP. I may regret this later but it seems so obvious.

I sincerely hope this happens. That's one reason I like replaying WW more than TP; it's not drab.

Nintendo surprised us with the art direction of TP when we all thought it would be Wind Waker 2, but I don't see that happening again. As has been stated in interviews, the graphics will probably look similar to TP. I think this is what Nintendo think Zelda fans want, and with the exception of a small minority (including myself), I believe they are right.

I agree they should make it more colorful, but seeing as they are taking Monster Hunter Tri as inspiration, I'm not holding my breath.

this sucks, MS and Sony wanna talk about motion controls and its like when you watched Phantom Menace and every time any non-jedis were on screen for more than 2 minutes you're thinking "fuck, i wonder what the jedis are doing? maybe they're just making beans or something but id rather be watching that", that's what waiting on Zelda is doing to me for this E3.

also, http://i48.tinypic.com/2ugi343.jpg is brilliant, well done there.

Wait, what? I thought MH Tri was pretty colorful.

At least, more than TP.

I expect to see a end of the day gif with the image getting smaller and smaller.

Technically the moon should be getting bigger and bigger behind the buildings as we get closer to the conference.

Wait... that's supposed to happen? I played the VC version recently and I thought that was some sort of VC-emulation related bug. I was like.... wait a minute... why is the image getting smaller and blockier?

When it fixed itself, I stopped worrying about it.

So what are we to expect from E3? Trailer? Demo?

I don't remember Nintendo ever announcing a game before E3 to reveal it there, I'm hoping for the whole shebang of course. But giving that its Nintendo I think we might only get a trailer with gameplay videos 2 or 3 months before the release date.

There is absolutely no doubt about it - we're getting a trailer and hands on gameplay tomorrow.

I remember someone high up in Nintendo saying so in an interview - can't remember if it was Reggie, Iwata or Miyamoto though.

didn't they say it would be playable?

Miyamoto said he was working to get a playable build for E3. I think he said that last summer. I also think he said they almost had a demo ready last year, too.

If the game needs Epona, then Hyrule is too big and needs to be made smaller IMO. You can't explore while on a horse. Too me, Epona in the game is Nintendo's admission that they once again couldn't create a compelling overworld.
You have more freedom of movement with the horse in zelda than the boat that requires an unintuitive system to steer it. Riding a horse offers more potential for exploration!
TP's over-world was not realistic. It was hub based and felt artificial. A more realistic over-world would be Red Dead Redemption or Shadow of the Colossus.

It doesn't require an unintuitive system.

It just requires technology that Links world doesn't have.

unintuitive system = stupid ass song you have to play to change the wind direction
Instant feedback is the reason why Epona is infinitely superior

When I play Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, I have high hopes for Zelda Wii. SMG features a nice mix of realistic textures in a colorful sci-fi fantasy setting.

Just because a game has realistic textures doesn't mean it will look drab. Stop being so narrow minded!

I was just being obtuse.

In the Wind Waker yes, an unintuitive system is necessary to sail.

I'm with Selig. I want a dragon, something like Haku from Spirited Away. That would be bad ass.
Toon-shaded or nothing if we get that.

I don't want it to look "realistic" if that's the case. Flying high in the sky on a dragon needs the cartoony visible wind.

I can imagine that if Link is riding a flying creature (dragon epona?) that it will control similar to the bird in SMG2.

Typically any Zelda "rumor" involving a "friend" as a source or the word "friend" should be taken as BS. Verifying the claim by PMing the "poster" and having them "prove" they're legit? And this is a FRIEND of the translator? Yea, that's some friend all right, betraying really private information and disclosing their "friend" as the original source so they can catch all the heat? And they opted to do this epic betrayalton on a random German site?

Bah! You scurvy landlubbers. Sailin' be intuitive, ye just got teh feel it in yer bones...changin' the direction of the wind for every destination be a fool's errand. Learn to sail, I tells ya.

Twilight Princess' overworld was like this, it was boring.

That's because it was largely empty, and what secrets it did have didn't really feel like rewards.

Collect all the bugs! ...so you can carry more rupees, which by that point in the game you don't have any use for anyways. Awful reward, providing absolutely no incentive.

I really think the collect-a-thon rewards should be something major, something fun, like a new weapon with infinite magic or whatever. Something that makes it really fun to go pick fights with enemies.

Can you remind me what was so great in TWW's overworld because i felt both overworlds were boring. A lot of the treasures you plucked from bottom of the deep were useless rupees and garbage. TP at least had some variety in scenery and puzzles. I also preferred the mini games in TP like fishing.
Seriously lets not single out TP and look the other way when you're complaining about the overworld.

Oot's overworld wasn't like this, and it was even more boring.
TP had at least a little bit variation and caves that were actually fun to explore (although the rewards suck, like in every non-Capcom Zelda).Still needs some improvements, though.

Not really, they should just be gone.

There should only be one collectathon quest, the pieces of heart, and even then their reward is immediate. Imagine what's better: Discovering a new cave, which has at the end of it an awesome invisible robe, or which has 2 Poes and an insect.

Say you got infinite magic after getting all the Poes, instead of infinite Rupees. Anything different? By the definition of the collectathon, by that point you're done with the game, and the only real reward is the satisfaction (which is also nonexistent because getting all Poes or insects requires no skill at all). Even if you get infinite health, infinite money, neverending Magic Armor. It feels as if they just gave you Gameshark.

Speaking of which, anyone who complains about the travel in TP needs to grab some codes and go crazy on the Spinner. The new Spinner is easily the best travel item in any Zelda, so fun.
