Oot's overworld wasn't like this,and it was even more boring.
TP had at least a little bit variation and caves that were actually fun to explore (although the rewards suck,like in every non-Capcom Zelda).Still needs some improvements,though.

To be fair the overworld in OoT's level of boringness can only be defeated by the overworld in Zelda II.

Still, loved the overworld song in OoT, made it tolerable.

If the game takes place hundreds of years before Ocarina of Time we won't see Vaati in 3D for the first time in this game.
I think it means also that we won't see Ganondorf, maybe we will see creation of Ganon (the demon)?

I don't really want Vaati. I wouldn't mind a completely new villain, somehow tying in with Ganon, though. Maybe the villain does something which turns Ganon so evil in the future, or something. Have it very loosely related, and go all the way on it, don't cop-out and half-ass it at the end like Zant.

Assuming the rumor about the game taking place a few hundred years before OoT is true, I think this could be awesome.

We really don't know how long the lifespan of a Gerudo is. Imagine a Zelda where the main villain takes a very young and naive Ganondorf under his wing as an apprentice, treating him like a son. In the climax of the game, he sees his beloved mentor killed by Link and it messes him up pretty bad, setting the stage for Ocarina of Time.

I don't remember Nintendo ever announcing a game before E3 to reveal it there, I'm hoping for the whole shebang of course. But giving that its Nintendo I think we might only get a trailer with gameplay videos 2 or 3 months before the release date.

I think we can count on playable demos. There is a Zelda Wii section on the E3 floorplan, and Aonuma already stated they are going to try and get demos up for E3.

I have a feeling Nintendo is going to pull a NSMBW:
-reveal it at press conference
-trailer
-playable demo at E3
-November release date

I had a dream about Zelda Wii this past night.

Basically, the world was as big as Zelda TP, and when you found a new weapon instead of searching for upgrades you had to search for "downgrades".

These downgrades were items and weapons from past Zelda games, and when used they transformed Link into a Link similar to old Zelda games.

For example a white tunic item that transforms Link into NES Link (still 3d, though)

God, just wrapped up Master Quest, so I've now completed every mainline Zelda (meaning no CDi, Crossbow Training, or Tingle games) so I am excited. The strangest thing is I've somehow managed to convince myself that this game'll have Roc's Cape, no matter how unlikely (yet amazing) that'd be.
As a quick aside, could anyone be so kind as to direct me to a decent resource chronicling the various aspects that we know of that got cut from Zelda games? I stumbled upon a few references to such material on the Zelda Wiki, but it deadended and there was clearly more information out there somewhere, but I've had a hell of a time finding anything.

+1 for hoping they change art direction. My ideal would be a toon-shaded style, Galaxy-esque, with more realistic proportions than WW had.

Actually, I had a dream too. I dreamed that Reggie and Cammie were on stage showing some graphs, when they just bust out laughing. Iwata and Miyamoto walk out, also laughing, and then the graphs are shown being ripped up before they show us half an hour of glorious Zelda Wii footage, while Phil Collins comes on stage and sings "Take Me Home"
