What XBox games are out next year?

Like exclusives ... is there just going to be some up until about July and then it will be cut off later because of Xbox 2? Is it even worth getting one if it's going to be cut off late next year?

It's worth getting one for Conker! Really though, does your decision to purchase an Xbox really rely on what's being released in the second half of 2005?

Is there stuff for the second half of the year? Is what I'm wondering more .. you know, the end of 2005 - whats going to be the big game? Or will everything be on XBox 2 by then?

Halo 3.... I mean PARIAH!!!~!!!!!!!!!!

I wish that game had more hype around it.
UNREAL CHAMPIONSHIP 2!!!!!
Spikeout:Battle street, if it isn't canned
Oddworld Stranger!!!
Iron Phoenix
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

the lack of METAL WOLF CHAOS in this thread is distressing. although i guess the japanese release is in a few days.

Yes there are plenty of games coming out. Conker, Star Wars: RC, Splinter Cell: CT, Psychonauts, Black, Starcraft: Ghost, Oddworld:SW, Metalwolf Chaos etc. etc. Don't know what the big game will be, but it sure looks like XBox 2 will be out by next Christmas.

All platforms are going to slow down substantially in the 2nd half, as resources get shifted to Xbox2 and PS3. Xbox will probably slow down faster than PS2 though.

The Xbox Q1 and Q2 line-up is very good though.

AFAIK, it's xdude exclusive. Buy at launch or risk genital punching.

From pc.ign.com

"Several times during our stay, Joint-CEOs Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk noted that Jade Empire was exclusive to Xbox "for now," suggesting that the martial arts RPG would have a second home following the release of Jade on Xbox next March. Because Greg and Ray have stated on numerous occasions that Xbox was the only console capable of running the games they want to make, the only logical assumption is that Jade Empire will be ported over to the PC in either the summer or fall of 2005. Considering BioWare did the same thing for Knights of the Old Republic and has always supported the PC, this one seems like a no-brainer."

The exclusivity of Jade Empire probably won't last long...

MS probably paid alot for them to release the xbox version first and that period of exclusivity.

I think you should wait until you hear officially if Xenon will be backwards compatible with Xbox. This way you can still play all the great Xbox games that come out in 2005 (and before that) except on a new piece of technology if Xenon does come out by Fall 2005.

Yeah but why would I wanna play old XBo games on new technology? That's my point .. lol

So if Perfect Dark Zero, Progect Gotham, and EA sports whole lineup is on XBox 2 - I'm not sure how many old XBox games I would want to play if I had XBox 2.

The same reason I still occasionally play PSX games on my PS2? To rediscover gems you missed the previous generation? If I personally never had an Xbox you better believe I'd be going back to dig through the ol' collection to play games like Crimson Skies, Ninja Gaiden, Halo 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta and more if Xenon was backwards compatible. But that's just me. It makes sense, though. Why make room for two sytems when you can make room for one that does the same things?

Well, heh, hey... this is your decision. I'm just giving you a guide based on my personal opinion. Although EA games could never sway me; those things are on every system.

The gameplay videos I saw made it look like yet another C grade quirky japanese mech game with subpar gameplay. And I LOVE mech games :(

Well I mean I don't mind going back and playing a couple games that stand the test of time, but I'm certainly not going to go through the backlog and feel like I have to play EVERY single game thats good that I missed or something - just can't work like that.

I will masturbate furiously when

KOTOR 2 comes out in Australia
Jade Empire 2 comes out

And maybe when Republic Commando comes out

The Xdude 2005 line up not all exclusives

Oddworld Stranger's Wrath
DOOM 3
Forza Motorsport
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection (USA)
KOTOR 2 (PAL)
MEGAMAN ANNIVERSARY
Star Wars: Republic Commando
SUPER MONKEY BALL DX
TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
FIFA STREET
Conker: Live and Reloaded
King of Fighters 02/03
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Jade Empire
Metal Slug 4 & 5
Kameo: Elements of Power
SID MEIERS PIRATES

All those +

Mercenaries
Midnight Club 3
Scrapland
Brothers in Arms (looks to be great)
Pariah (ditto)
Close Combat : first to fight (i'm somewhat excited by this)
Rainbow Six 4
Far Cry: Insticts
SC: Chaos Theory
Area 51
Starcraft : Ghost (if it ever makes it out)

lots of great titles coming all around, but Jade Empire probably stands above all..

Kameo may be a Xbox 2 launch game now...
there is a big chance it will happen yeah.
Conker:Live and Reloaded is all you need, superb SP like we're used to old Rareware & a magnificent online mp ^^

Oh I'd put money on it. Well, maybe not launch, but Xbox 2 yeah. Either that or never. It mysteriously disappeared from IGN's release list.

The only chance for Kameo to sell well is as a launch title. MS is no fool and realized they would not be able to market it correctly on the current Xbox. It has a chance on Xbox 2 if MS really wants to have goog platforming games throughout the console lifetime.

...why? Why wouldn't it sell as well a bit into the Xenon's life? Maybe it could make it in time to be a Christmas title following up on the launch games.

Well we all know launch titles sell a lot more than their sequel usually (see Amped, PGR, Pikmin) unless it's a very special title like Halo. So Kameo, a game that does not really appeal to usual Xbox crowd would have a much better chance to sell and even create a market for the genre as a launch title. But then a few weeks after launch is almost the same as a launch title, true enough.

I see what you're saying, but you've got to have some games coming after launch, and it might as well be Kameo as much as any other. Going for two Rare games making a launch sounds tough too. And porting games from one console to the other sounds like a good, quick idea, but always seems to take longer than expected. Especially one like Kameo, which doesn't seem like it's that near finished anyway (they're changing it again? Jesus).

And Kameo isn't really a platformer. I'd liken it more in looks to Sudeki and its gameplay seems to be some sort of Pokemon/Zelda/Metroid hybrid

I wonder how far along the new Banjo game is...

May end up being a turd, but I'm hoping that Glyph can deliver the goods. I'll buy it for the boxart anyhow :lol

Pariah also has the potential to be great or really bad...

Pretty certain they'll be great :-
Unreal Championship 2 (will put Halo 2 melee online to shame)
Jade Empire (d'uh it's Bioware)
Conker : Live and Reloaded (Rare will go some way to silencing it's critics)

Non Exclusive but still worth getting

Mercenaries
Destroy All Humans
Area 51
Brothers in Arms (console exclusive AFAIK)

Forza might be good for sim racing enthusiasts, but it wiould send me to sleep :lol

I'm gonna pick up:

Conker: Live & Reloaded
Dead or Alive Ultimate (PAL)
GTA San Andreas

Maybe: Forza.

I still have Outrun 2 to get though.. and maybe Burnout 3.

Considering how well KotOR did on Xbox, I doubt it took much for Bioware to agree to an exclusive contract.

If you look at the games listed, 2005 is likely to be better than 2004 for Xbox. The line-up has the potential to kick some ass.

2005, Year of the Xbox.

Fixed :D
Joking aside, there isn't much if anything in that list planned for after april.
As far Jade Empire, it's a 2nd party game so it was at least partially financed by MS. You'd expect it to be at least temporary Xbox exclusive then.

There's a lot of very solid and some potentially great Xbox games coming in before Holiday 2005. Save for a Halo game, it can be argued that 2005 will be just as good as, if not better than, 2004 for quality game releases.

Republic Commando is my no.1 game I'm looking forward to in 2005. Followed by Jade Empire and Area 51.

If your only buying one system next year I'd get a Xenon. That's what I'm doing.

If you buy an Xbox not your gonna be kicking yourself once they start showing Xenon stuff.

You should be :) I have a few videos of the game I can't show yet, and it's quite amazing looking.

You keep saying this... and it still makes no sense. There are over 500 games available for Xbox. Most of the AA and AAA games can be found at Platinum hit prices ($20 or less). The system retails for $149 and comes with 2 games. Why would you be kicking yourself?
