The hero of my favourite anime. I only watch anime by a certain director (Yuasa Masaaki) unless it's just right-of-passage anime, like Evangelion or Full Metal Alchemist or Hellsing, Cowboy Bebop or whatever, and of that guy's shows, "The Tatami Galaxy" is my favourite.

The character (his name is "senpai" which just means "elder peer" or somesuch, a student title) is self delusional, but kind of like Groundhog Day he gets to replay every time he fails and ultimately realises that he's stuck in a toxic cycle and breaks through it. Very inspiring and etc etc etc.

TV show called Farscape, one of the best sci fi shows ever created, made in Australia with practical effects by Jim Henson.

It’s an action horror comedy drama with heists, wars, monsters, romance, over the top characters, underplayed characters, big themes, subtle subtexts, philosophical conflicts, hard science, science fantasy, evil genius villains, terrifying monsters, heroic alien warriors, quippy space cowboys, hard as nails warrior women, hot space babes and drug fuelled whacky adventure.

If Doctor Who didn’t exist, it’d be my favourite tv show ever.

holy shit these scenes took me back just now. buffy and angel were my favorite shows back in the day. ill still go back and watch season 1 and 2 of buffy, usually thinking it will have aged poorly, and then wind up love the shit out of it all over again

one of the reasons he was always my favorite character in those shows was bc he was a no bullshit kind dude. he just told it how it was and did what he had to do, but he showed some consious sometimes and wasnt completely selfish, and that helped make him feel more real you know? like, in the real world were not all perfect heros like some of our tv shows, movies and video games would have us believe, we fuck up a lot, but that doesnt mean were completely evil. in that sense, he was the most real and relatable character on those shows... for me at least.

funny how i gravitated to that even as a child. not that you cant change who you are (you certainly can... to some degree at least) but its amazing how when i think of the whole nature vs nurture thing it seems to always come back to how i originally felt about the world as a kid.

His name is not "Senpai", he doesn't have a name in the anime and is only credited as "Watashi" which means "I" or "me".

You sicken me.

The beauty of Buffy is just how much it does catch you off guard. It has no right being as awesome as it is. My favorite show ever, honestly

Funny that you rewatch season 1 and 2. The show gets so much better imho as the universe expands.

Give season 3 a go one day. Arguably the peak of the series. Theres a reason I never shut the hell up about Buffy around here. It has everything: horror, comedy, romance, action, 90s cgi schlock, etc - perfect imho and the writing andworld building are top tier.

But yea, Spike calls it like he sees it. Dude is admirable in that sense. His boldness.
