Based on yesterday's MLID leaks, which model(s) would you buy?

For me, I'm not too bothered about full 4K and considering prices I'll likely just plump for the base model.

It's PS6, PS6 handheld and PS6 light
I am more than sure there will be proper pro model 3-4 years into gen

Of course proper PS6 (Orion)

Developers would have 3 spec configurations to develop for which is a no go.

Hence why the base console shares the same specs as the handheld.

What you're suggesting is a PS6 Pro Pro, which would be far too expensive at launch and 4 years down the line.

None, i think i am gonna skip it for the first time. They would have to show some very interesting games to have me interested again, and then there's the price.

Not really excited by any of them right now. Maybe nearer launch I will be, but my thinking atm is just hold onto my PS5 Pro and ride out cross gen with that 🤷

3 reasons for this…

1. Diminishing returns in graphics
2. Rising hardware costs
3. Series S success and PS5 Pro flopping
Isn't it funny.

You know when I came here 11 months ago, and I said;

'I'll drink everyone's cum on this entire forum if it breaks the 8m mark.'

You all laughed at me.

Well I have to say, you're not laughing now are you?

Wouldn't a new Portal cause brand confusion with the Portable version?

They'd have to look radically different.
It just needs a warning on the box and in product descriptions, that it is just a remote device, "PS6 required to play" or whatever older platform is maybe supported natively. Same case just empty/emptier would make sense. Maybe it could even be a PS4 Portable with partially defective PS6 chips. Kinda selling garbage, but still some functionality and maybe interesting for some poorer markets.

As we are now, none.
Sony disapointed me on so many levels in this generation that I'm currently migrating to steam! I've got a steam deck for portable play, my PC for the more demanding games and perhaps I'll get a steam console if/when it comes out.

They do it now with PS4, PS5 and PS5 pro
PS6 handheld/PS6s will not be a main platform, it's essentially stripped down fullhd version to play PS5 versions of the games to help PS4 owners migrate/expand to portable territory
Orion is positioned as main platform for home console

Hence why the base console shares the same specs as the handheld.
It shares same specs because it's just a super cheap version for super cheap audience that will target around fullHD gaming with cut down framerates.
It will not be main target console, it's less powerfull than even PS5 and it's huge compromise to play it on a big screen tv.

What you're suggesting is a PS6 Pro Pro, which would be far too expensive at launch and 4 years down the line.
I expect PS6 to be around $500 wo drive and based on leaks Sony intends to keep price reasonable.
And Pro will be in the same ballpark as current Pro - not too expensive but clearly enthusiasts device

I have no use for a handheld. I'm single and I'm well into my forties. I don't play in the bus and I don't have to relegate myself to a corner while the missus watches the TV. Orion it is for me.

In which universe series S is a success?
If anything it helped to make xbox series to become a completely failure, together with gamepass

Series was going to fail anyway, Xbox One and going third party made sure of that.

Most people don't give a fuck about 4K and no on gives a fuck about anything above that.

Nothing's solid yet, however, every time Sony attempt to doing something weird, they're pretty much playing fire with Microsoft cause they got no other choice.

The most powerful model, I'm not into handheld stuff.
But I guess next gen a lot of things will be different, PS5 will continue to be relevant for many years into the generation and it won't be possible to offer a high end console at less than 599$ (if not higher) in late 2027.
Which obviously makes a cheap model mandatory if you don't want to sell to a 20m niche market of enthusiasts.
But platform holders will start to reason in terms of whole ecosystem and this multiple products approach with the handheld being a low power PS5 seem to confirm this approach.

Personally i'm not buying there being a pro or s model at launch.

So i'll get the standard PS6 and the handheld, but if there was a pro i'd get that over the standard.

80m PS5 sold says otherwise

And ps6light wouldn't even be fullhd native, it will be 400-500p reconstructed to 1080p that will look complete shit on 50+" TV
It's portable performance for portable device with portable gaming parameters.

I am also an altruist. Doing my bit to let stockpiles of poor PS6 go to depraved and taxed population of US and Djibouti.

If sony make a portable ps6 and force devs to get every first party on both console, it may be the first time i don't buy any sony console.

You go the gimmicky way like nintendo, you can forget my money.

but i thought multiple SKUs was bad?
It certainly is challenging, because any device has a bottleneck. Might be one thing for most games while is it something else for other games. Adding a second similar platform might be scalable when you can alter resolutions and some effects, but game logic needs to run exactly the same. Series S did not exactly allow that and some stuff that was designed for X and PS5 was not able to run at all or only with a lot of effort dev teams did not want to go through.
If it is somewhat really just flip of a switch, and with proper planning it should not create additional work, in theory.
But I am also confused how this 4+2 core CPU should be on par with a 8 core CPU of the proper machine.
A handheld with its thermal/battery limits is naturally limiting, but PS5 size was insane also, maybe we get generally smaller boxes again, and possible max power is not targeted that much.
