It really is unfortunate that so many people have a bone to pick with Gearbox and feel that they need to shit all over every single game they make to feel better about themselves, but I'm glad you went into detail about why this game deserves a fair shot from everyone even though they'll never give it one.
I know we disagree about stuff like balancing issues when it comes to games like Garden Warfare 2 Chrono, but I found myself on the same page with everything you said about Battleborn.
Everything about it is so unique when comparing it to other competitive shooters on the market and the personality/character designs/writing really struck a chord with me as someone that usually hates Borderlands games and Gearbox writing.
There are very few games that I put on a pedestal and I'm sure most people recognize my name/avatar as being that dude that points out why he
doesn't like so and so aspect of a game or what have you, but no other game besides Garden Warfare 2 Beta has captured me like Battleborn has.
It's so good that it actually eats into my time that I spend messing around in VR everyday, which again, if anyone recognizes my name/avatar would seem nearly impossible considering how much I love VR
I think the biggest draw for me personally is that I've always enjoyed the idea of a Moba on paper but never actually got into one despite trying all the popular ones. But as someone with years of experience with FPS games, having the ability to carry all that skill over into a new genre feels incredibly refreshing yet satisfying as I already understand 85% of the underlying mechanics and get to make use of my dexterity in a Moba rather than only making use of my reflexes with how fast I can "click" something. That's not to say that there is anything wrong with traditional Mobas, but just to say that I find tremendous value in the ability to carry over years of experience into a new genre without feeling overwhelmed by the high skill gap usually present in Mobas.
