Why does the PSX hype seem muted compared to last year?

I agree, The legend of dragoon would be the only thing I want right now and God know if that even is in development by some studio.. A crash game is unrealistic :|

...........Hope I'm wrong

Cute ;)

I'm obviously talking about the real PS4 version.
The 3DS is as real as the ps4 version. =)
Honestly, the PS4 version only evolution that we can see so far is the graphics improvement while we can already see the innovation for the 3DS version. No offense, the ps4 version may have something more to offer but so far it's just seems like an better looking DQ 8 while DQ9 added a lot to the series which can't be denied.

I think there is still excitement, but considering the ever illusion and always hyped TLG, Shenmue and FFXII all came within the first 10 minutes of E3, it's understandable why the hype is a bit less.

E3 left people out of ideas

which is great

probability of great new IPs is higher than ever

the problem is you cant be hyped for something you dont know

I'd hope it's because people are slowly learning that "hype" is synonymous with being a sucker and it isn't a good, desirable thing.

A new Legend of Dragoon would be the only thing I want.....but at this point I'm extremely happy with whats coming. So if it happens.....holy shit.....if it doesn't eh, I'm not surprised or too stressed out about it.

Yes please.

I'm hyped, at least. I thought PSX was excellent last year, mostly because I was so delighted to see Suikoden II being rereleased. For fans of niche Japanese games, PSX 2014 was near E3 2015 levels of excitement.

Knowing I can play Dark Cloud in 1080/60 with trophies this evening already has me pumped.

Me too. I really hope Corsi gets on stage for more announcements like that again this year.

There is no use in hype.

Instead of setting unrealistic expectations, exponentially increasing my inevitable disappointment, I will be chill and try to appreciate any games shown for what they are.

SonyGAF/HypeGAF/GifGAF has become fat, lazy, and too satisfied with the status quo.

This is a visual representation of Sony's e3:

No way they can top their e3 with PSX. Like they revealed the Last Mothafuckin Guardian, NOTHING will top that re-reveal.

FFXII would be nice, but not fully expecting it. Honestly, if they announced Yakuza 0 though, I'd be so happy and call it on of the best events of all time.

That said, I could be having the worst shit of my life in sever agony and Adam Boyes could sneak in the window and just whisper in my ear "Yakuza 0" while my pants are down, cheeks on the seat and I'd call that one of the best events ever.

LOL

Really, what Golden Unicorn is left in the game industry for megaton status?

I can only really think of one left: Half Life 3

It's hard to get excited for these things after E3 2015.

People didn't know what to expect last year, and so ran away with themselves. We now know it probably isn't going to be wall-to-wall amaze and so have tempered our expectations.
If it's on par with last year's show then I'll be more than happy.

For me, some things have been a downer.

-SSM new game is some Bound platformer. Looks nice, but isn't really getting me hyped.

-Guerilla won't be there with Horizon.

-Apparently Bend won't be there.

-Some people are thinking that FF7 remake won't be there.

So yeah, kind of losing steam. But that is probably a good thing. Set expectations low.

Men were thinking that PS exclusive con would be the one to top E3. Too much hype caused nothing good last time for them. They are more careful now.

Bound is not by SSM. They're helping the main developers (Plastic), and are marketing the game for them.

Yeah, I sure felt like a sucker after E3 this year.

I guess I'm differentiating between being excited for promising announcements and getting yourself worked up over a brand. They're trying to sell you things, don't make their job that much easier by giving in to "hype" and acting like an embarrassment.

Nothing against Worthy, the way he tells it he was duped, no reason to believe otherwise. But a lot of last year's hype was built of his teases last year. Seemed like Crash, TLG & FFVII remake were all coming.

Funny thing is, two of those did arrive at E3 haha. So I think people are just letting this one creep up, especially after E3 and PGW. Unless they want to blow their load for next E3, what DO they announce today haha?

It's deliberate I think. Sony also contained the hype before the latest E3.

Boyes himself said there was to much hype last year (before PSX 2014). They had a great conference, but I remember people being disappointed. At some point people expected something that just wasn't plausible.

Last E3 was the best, little expectation and then giving a conference for the history books. That's the way to do it imo.

SSM's main game isn't Bound.

Do we really need to see more of Horizon? They didn't really show anything new last time? The game needs a breather.

Bend will be there, Sony confirmed it.

FF7R will not be there I can guarantee it. Don't believe.

PSX has changed. It's no longer about megatons, teasers or insider leaks. It's an endless series of manufactured excitement, fought by advertisement companies and social media departments. PSX, and its consumption of grassroots hype, has become a well-oiled machine.

PSX has changed. Sony-tagged social media channels post Sony-tagged trailers, suppress Sony-tagged insider leaks. NDA clauses inside contracts suppress and regulate leaks. Information control. Leak control. Insider control. Hype control. Everything is monitored, and kept under control.

PSX has changed. The age of insiders has become the age of control. All in the name of averting disappointment because everything leaked in advance. And he who controls the social media channels, controls the hype.

PSX has changed. When the hype is under total control, PSX... becomes routine.

After E3 and TGS, there's nothing Sony could do to make me more hyped for the coming days.

Just based on what we know would be revealed at PSX(PS2 emulation, ect), it doesn't seem all that necessary really.

Maybe FF7 remake news...

MGS4 remaster confirmed

They're just helping out with that like they did with Hohokum, TO 1886, and Rapture (amongst many, many others). Their "main" game is most likely another God of War.

Apologies if you were already aware of that.

It's not that I don't know what I want, it's more the fact that I know I won't be getting them at this event so why set myself up for disappointment.

The only thing that I'm really expecting is Yakuza 5 and hopefully they'll deliver that.
