TS and TS2 were great fun if you had friends around. 4 ppl being chased by 8 monkeys on fire = comedy gold.

The TimeSplitters Series = The most Average FPS series of this generation of consoles.

TS2 made for some really fun multiplayer games. and the co-op was good too. It's just a fun game ... *shrug* ... don't see why everything has to be the second coming in order to have a good time with it.
The only thing that pissed me off about it was the horribly limited map editor. The forced walls and retarded space restrictions drove me nuts. Now, if they improve the map editor and give me plenty of space (especially with the Xbox HD), then I'm sold.

Wow, it's interesting how wide the range of opinions are in here, and yet in contrast, the range of opinions that most people are willing to accept is so pathetically small...
At any rate, my 2 cents is that Timesplitters 2 was pretty great. The challenges were one of my favorite parts. I do think it feels a little too fast sometimes, and I can definitely see why some people poop all over it--it's not for everyone. For the record, I think Halo 2 is pretty good but certainly not the ubergod of a game some make it out to be. And I like Nintendo, so feel free to pigeonhole me as you wish.

While I'm out here bucking the trend, I'll also add that although I've owned TimeSplitters 2 for more than 2 years, I've only played it as a single-player game--and I still think it's great!

Wow, some of you act is if Free Radical personally intended to fuck some of you over when making the game. TS2 was/is a great Mutiplayer game. 8 bots on easy with 4 human players trying to rank up the most kills is awesome. Modes upon modes, a decent mapmaker system, and more arcade and challenges that one can count. The one player campaign may be short and straight forward, but the replay ability of all the challenges and multiplayer battles is well worth the price. Around my parts its PREFERRED over Halo 1 and its lack of bots. LAN and ONline may be fricking awesome, but that doesn't always mean its practical. TS2, and hopefully TS3, are great offline multiplayer games that deserever the positive reviews they get.

Fuckin' right! Halo's an all right game, but it's so overrated IMO, and games like TS2 are severly underrated, or just plain hated way too much. You guys in your walkers and adult diapers can stick to your slow-ass Halo, I'm down with TS2.

)TS2 was really forgettable. I beat it awhile back but I can't remember anything about it except something about an alien ship, and using a tommy gun for some reason at some point. Think that was the problems...levels were all over the place. I know that's the point of the whole time thingamajig, but nothing reall stood out. Thought the little target thing sucked too if I remember right (when you click the thumbstick or some shit). It'd be cool if TS3 does things better, but somehow I doubt it

Maybe the Xbots can't handle the fact that another good FPS exists on other consoles.I don't get the statement made earlier about Nintendo fans loving TS. The first TS was only on the PS2. The second and third one is on all 3 consoles. Maybe the Xbox version of TS2 was crappy or something compared to the GC and PS2 versions?
Btw, I own both a GC and an XBox, and also consider both TS2 and Halo as my fav console FPSers (which one is #1 changes from time to time).
I liked TS2's pace, controls, challenges and multiplayer, but I really hated most of the settings. The game started of great on that Dam-level, but every level after it lacked. And for fuck sake, I don't want to shoot aliens with lasers in spacestations. Nobody likes shooting aliens with lasers! Don't plan a sequel based on shooting aliens with lasers, it's just no fun.

But this is GAF! It happens with almost every thread... GT zealots at PGR/RSC/Forza thread and vice versa. Halo threads always have few mandatory comments "meh I thought Halo was really shitty/mediocre". Its annoying but inevitable as long as people like to rile up others... Look, I've known FrenchMovieTheme (FMT) for awhile... he's a good poster. I almost always jive with his tastes; in fact, this is the first time I remember ever even disagreeing with him. Granted, we usually find each other more in sports posts, but either way. FMT's a good guy, a nice poster with a good attitude and I like his opinion and typically value it. Anyhow, the thing is, FMT has been around GAF for a long time and knows they way things are done. If he wanted a big Timesplitters circle jerk thread, he would have done the typical GAF "xxxxx appreciation" thread; a GAF standard if you will. Had he done that, I wouldn't have touched this thread with a 10 foot pole. I imagine a lot of the others here who are expressing they don't like the game would have also done the same. Would there have been some naysayers or even a troll? Possibly one or two, but the point is... there wouldn't have been this kind of outpouring of negative opinion. Most posters know that an appreciation thread is not a thread for debate (generally).
Now... I don't see FMT crying about troll's or people in here not giving the game a circle jerk; so it seems you're the only one that is. Now why is that? Well, that's because if FMT wanted an appreciation thread, he certainly knows how to make one, and would have known to make one. The fact is, he didn't. He wanted to have a debate and at the same time express his opinion and have others express their opinion about this game. You know... the whole point of a forum and why many people come here? Yeah that. Hell, even if FMT did mean it to be rhetorical, he's old and wise enough to know that by asking the question, he would be inviting a lot of people the opportunity to come in and rain on his parade... something that he, being an old timer, would know better than. So if you came into this thread hoping to just see everyone all happy and singing merry songs about your game you love, you only have yourself to blame. That's about as nice as I can put it for you.

Does the game have improved aiming? I liked the way some console FPS's have that slight auto aim thing, TS2 was kind of harder and didn't feel as enjoyable because it didn't baby me like that.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you tend to come off as a MS/Bungie zealot at times.
Ah, I've had some good times with TS2, even though I've never owned it. The AI was horrid though, and it seems to continue in TS3, or so I've heard from the EGM review.
I'm going to wait til my buddy with the GC buys it, and I'll see how it is from there.
