Wii U Games 2015

Thank you for all the replies. Really excited to be a new Wii U owner. I've missed so many games, and there are some great ones coming this year too.

Itagaki's recent update on Facebook seems to indicate that Devil's Third is not released during the next couple of months (despite the Australian classification of the game). Although the message basically was nothing more than "I can't tell you anything at the moment", it also seems to say that the QA testing currently takes longer than expected.

Yeh it sounded like it. Also that Legend of Kay appeared on Amazon US for Wii U apparently.

Damn! I was hoping it would fit in a time where Nintendo doesn't have a lot of games coming. With X, Starfox and Zelda all presumably fall/winter, I don't think I'll have the time/money to pick it up then...

Link,

Because the link I saw just seemed to mention the game was the biggest he's ever worked on, and that takes time. I think it's because if you look at the FB it is bombarded daily with requests and information etc. I still have the feeling we will see it end of Summer, which is still a good 4-5 months away.

Itagaki's FB page said:
Hey gamers gathering here.
I know you guys are craving for the latest information on Devil's Third. Devil's Third isn't a simple shooter, but an unprecedented massive shooter to be played by tons of players. So there's many things to set before we release it. The game contains a lot of elements well over the volume to be provided by two regular games.
This game will be the biggest game of life for me and my colleagues, including you guys, not to mention.
It took two years for the concept working and four years for the development. It's not surprising at all. Such amount of time is needed to create a totally new game from scratch. I'm sure you'll dig what I mean if I say we spent four years to develop Ninja Gaiden.
But, I know your mind. Such development matters have nothing to do with gamers. So I and all the members of Valhalla really appreciate that you guys have waited for Devil's Third for a long time.
What Devil's Third is?
Such announcement will be made over time. Thanks for your patiense[sic]. Devil's Third will meet you guys' expectation for sure!
Thanks again from the bottom of my heart.

We need more Mario Kart 8 DLC. What an amazing game I can't believe how awesome this game is. F-Zero circuit and Zelda are out of this world. We need more!

We still have the 2nd DLC coming, and since it was announced (and you could already buy it) a long time ago and yet to be released, I think there's going to be more DLC in the future once the 2nd dlc is finally out.

Man, Nintendo's 2015 seems the equal of 2014. Perhaps not LTD sales like kart 8 and smash.

But DAT quality.

2015 should greatly outclass 2014. 2014 was donkey kong, then mario kart, and then nothing important until hyrule warriors. with that, it was four big releases in a row and the year was over.

2015 has kirby, then mario party, then splatoon in three months of each other. star fox, zelda, and xenoblade should be out by the end of the year, plus mario maker and yoshi somewhere in there, not to mention the rare third-party exclusive game and oddball release (eshop or otherwise, such as whatever miyamoto's project games are).

When Zelda drops it will be a definitely must buy, but right now too many of those games feel like they won't come out until later this year.

The DLC 2 appearing in May might be the last one for Mario Kart 8. It's part of the their year-long marketing campaign for MK8.

However, DLC as a way to extend the time the player spends with the game has also been outlined as a key strategy by Nintendo (in the October Q&A at the Investor Meeting). And the recent Famitsu article regarding Splatoon claiming the game will be "supported after release", indicates that Splatoon might be the next game with a similar DLC focus.

I'm pretty certain Smash will have DLC coming up, if making one character and one stage takes this long then we would never have gotten the game in the first place. Then again, Sakurai works in mysterious ways.

I think its taking long because its gonna be a lot more then those announced things that comes

There are other things that will appear in a future Smash update. Sharable user-defined levels, tournaments, tourneys have all been confirmed AFAIK.

Been watching Devil's Third footage and it looks like a generic shooter to me; not sure why it's getting any hype. Rainbow Curse is going to be amazing next week but Xenoblade and Zelda will be the big hitters for this year. I'm hoping we get a surprise announcement at E3 from Iwata announcing a new Fire Emblem/Star Fox/F-Zero for a fall release.

Star Fox was announced for Wii U at E3 2014 and it's scheduled to release this year. Doubt they would announce another one.

Mostly (for me at least) because it's a new Itagaki game, which he seems quite passionate about. Also it seems more like a mixture between Ninja Gaiden and *insert shooter*.
And that's disregarding the crazy multiplayer stuff they showed

I think all the people that previewed the game thought it was pretty crappy. But it's Itagaki, and supposedly the latest build is much better than what they showed at E3. It could turn out to be a generic, crappy shooter, or it could be the next big thing.

A new Fire Emblem was announced last month.

Star Fox was announced last E3.

They got you covered for the most part ;)

Nobody previewed Devil's Third. The press saw the exact same stuff we saw via Treehouse live and the stage demos. And most actually didn't even see that much, they just watched the crappy trailers afterwards and then said "ugh". Press impressions are pretty worthless for this game right now as they know less than we do.

And the commentary coming from Itagaki is he's got the time and resources to do it right. And there is some reason to think Nintendo is enforcing its high standards on the project.

The gameplay mechanic of looking down the sights in an instant switch from third person perspective could be a thrill in motion. Seems like a nice idea.

A cult hit could come out of it. And thats what everyone would be hoping for.

Look what target has, its getting close Xenoblade Chronicles X
It just occurred to me that this probably means X won't be a Gamestop exclusive. yaaaay

I heard it was due to GameStop actually commissioning the localization, like paying Nintendo to do it or something. It's what I heard on here on GAF, forget who. :P

But they didn't "localize" anything. They just used the UK localization. I'm not even sure if they took out the extra U's in words and stuff.

The most I could believe is GS saying "hey if you wanna bring it over, we'd stock it since we're catering to the enthusiast market and can make teh moneyz" ... but I don't know.

no probably about it... I wonder what NA Marketing exec had to eat crow when Xenoblade sold well on the Wii and then a sequel was greenlit?

I am still wondering when Nintendo of America is going to realize that they can't afford to not bring everything over. If a game like Tamadachi Life can do well in the west, with the right marketing, messaging and push, they can sell any game they want to.

Nevermind then. I think Itagaki will just do what he always does, then.

To be fair, there's only a handful of games this gen that the West hasn't got.

After reading today's Financial Briefing by Iwata, I almost get the feeling that Nintendo pushes as many releases as possible beyond March 31st, since the goals for the current fiscal year will be fulfilled anyway on the Wii U side. There seems to be no delayed 2015 titles according to the presentation, except that Project Guard wasn't mentioned in the list for the Gamepad-focused games. And Iwata also said "Even though there are more to announce" for 2015.

Should we do a similar thread for the Nintendo 3DS as this one? Seeing as many have probably gotten the New Nintendo 3DS these days.

Man, if only there was an up-to-date football game and one shooting series getting regular releases, I'd be picking up a Wii U and using it as my primary console right now. Project Cars would satisfactorily scratch my racing sim(ish) itch, but I just can't go without a FIFA or Pro Evo, or a modern FPS.

Hopefully Project Cars will do well enough that Konami will at least consider porting the PS3 / Xbox 360 version of the next PES to Wii U - I think everyone's given up on EA at this point. But then, does the Fox Engine even run on Wii U? Good sales for Project Cars may also tempt Activision into releasing Treyarch COD on Wii U - the last one sold pretty well I think, and still has an active community.

Only if Nintendo would have a football franchise that they could use it on Wii U! Like Strikers something ...

Seems such a market misread not to have sports game on a console.

I don't know, Strikers isn't what I'm after (and I think the same goes for many who want a football game). Just the same as Mario Kart doesn't fill that racing void, but Project Cars does.

And yeah, no football game = a death sentence in the UK.

Unfortunately I don't see a 1st party real football game possible. It's quite strange how they couldn't even manage to get a legacy edition for Wii U. Or rooster updates for FIFA 13 (which is not that bad actually). Konami seems not willing to take any risks (seeing how they treat their PC ports) so I wouldn't really bet on them either.

A great football game were the first I thought of when the Wii U were announced. And we have only gotten FIFA 13. It's sad really.

Rooster updates? I'd buy a wii u port if it was full of playable roosters for sure.

From Nintendo or just in general? Sony manages to have a 1st party baseball game with MLB the Show, so why not a first party football/soccer game? I realize FIFA is huge, but it's still better than nothing.

Sony develops MLB for a large audience that already has their console, and want a baseball game.

Nintendo would be developing a football game for a smaller install base / trying to attract people who already have very good and well-established football games on their existing platform.

Konami don't think they can turn a profit on porting their extremely well-known football game to Wii U (even without competition). Nintendo would be building from scratch (higher costs), they don't have the expertise for sports sims, and they don't really have any sort of reputation among the people who buy FIFA / Pro Evo regularly, so it'd likely sell worse than a Pro Evo port. They'd lose a lot of money on it.

I'm not mentioning FIFA in this because EA is done with the Wii U at this point, and that's not changing.

I was talking about Nintendo. But even so, football is really much more complex than baseball in terms of gameplay.
