@pswii60 Yeah the controllers limitation on NSMBU is ridiculous, seriously, just WHY?

The game is great, don't get me wrong, but when I realized that I couldn't play with a friend with me on the Gamepad and him on a Wiimote, that we both needed a Wiimote, Man I thought this shit was lame. Not making the Pro Controller compatible felt the same way. I mean, Nintendo released this controller for people who would prefer this over the Gamepad/Wiimote and doesn't make it compatible with their biggest selling launch title? ...ffs.

I was really looking forward to using the Pro pad on NSMBU :-(

Why the hell would I want to play with a compromised wiimote!

So since my premium bundle didnt come with Nintendo land - Amazon emailed me a code to download it free off the eshop.

I would have preferred this disk..

Oh well :)

i can trade you the game for the code if you want.

...nevermind, you're probably in europe.

Amazon emailed me the code too - even though I've already got the disc version.
I think they've done it for everyone that ordered the black premium.

I just got the email too and my Wii U hasn't been delivered yet. I was worried about potentially missing the disc, especially because it's supposed to be a Christmas present, but it's great to see them be so proactive about it.

I was thinking about this last night when it comes to the Wii U UI. I went to organize some of my icons as its getting a bit messy on the main page and to my surprise Wii U doesn't have OS folders?

I mean this was huge when they added them into the 3DS. How could they have left them out of the Wii U OS since the OS's are so similar.

oh nintendo, you silly bastard! Give me feature parity between my OS's!

Because there is certain waggle features that must be used :(

Follow the link I put up, fixed that error for me.
Thanks but it didn't work for me. I'm at a loss. 103-2001 is haunting me. Everything works up until that point. The DNS is fucked up. I tried the one I got from my computer using ipconfig /all, didn't do much good. Crap...

(EDIT) Hahaha holy shit. I can connect using my phones hot spot. So I do the system updated and get a 105-4206. Worst fucking online experience ever. Wow.

OH NO YOU DINNIT!

Waggle? I thought we had seen the end of Waggle! I was really looking forward to NSMBU due the Mario World references :-(

1. Try disabling the firewall in your router.
2. Try setting your Wii U in a DMZ

Its still absolutely amazing and there isn't much motion reference in the game. It actually works fairly well with the pink yoshi's. Its not a deal breaker I would definitely still get it and play with the wiimote! :D

If you're refusing to get Mario U because of motion controls, you are so fundamentally against slightly moving your hands in two stages near the end that I am shocked you can pick up the controller at all.

My nid if anyone wants to add me: Einar_TCi

The broser is really great so far. Switching between apps is terrible. Hope that gets optimized later.

1) Holy crap, new Nintendo console!
2) Holy crap, that gamepad is really comfortable, plus the screen is gorgeous and responsive
3) Holy crap, Pikmin 3 is actually happening and it's coming out in a few months!
4) Holy crap, the classic controller feels just plain f$%^ing weird after getting used to the 360 controller.

5) Holy crap, where can I get one of those fucking coffee mugs? I would pay top dollar.

Of course you can. Big button in the Home menu under controller settings saying "Turn off gamepad display" or something like it. I used it several times today playing Mario U.

Yeah, but the moment you press a button the display comes back on. This is a PITA for games like Assassin's Creed 3 which don't really require it's use at all (though the bigger map is nice at times). Would like to be able to just turn off the display and use it like a regular gamepad so I can get a few extra hours of out of it.

Update now installing. I ran into server problems so close to the end, bah. But all good now. First impressions: man the console is small. I was surprised, that the gamepad is almost as big as the console itself. Unboxing was pretty exciting, don't know exactly why. Somehow you feel like a little kid again. Other than the update and first Mii creation, I've seen nothing yet. A first qualm I have is that the setup was for right handers. That felt a little awkward.

We sold 10 out of 10 Premium Packs and 6 of 8 ZombiU Packs today. Not bad, but we could have sold a couple of Basic Packs as well if we had them. Everyone except two people bought NSMBU, and a third of the customers bought AC3. Also sold a few extra ZombiUs and a FIFA, along with a couple of Pro Controllers and Gamepad Accessory Packs. The other third-party titles haven't sold yet, but we still haven't got CoD and Tekken, which we have reservations for. A nice launch for a toystore in a small Norwegian town - now the hunt is on to get in more systems. Hope to get at least 10 more Premium Packs and a handful of Basic Packs next week.

I'm at 25%, already 1h30... T_T

Definitively not my connexion, btw.

Anyone else experiencing VERY long downloading times ?

I did the update 24 hours ago. It took exactly one hour to download, and exactly 10 more minutes to install. The servers are probably hit hard right now.

Right. I thought playing on the TV meant playing with the Wii remote. He's talking about NSMB U after all. I just use the remote and turn off the gamepad.

I've added Nintendoland and it comes up as just the game.

I'm guessing the Wii U is added when you register on the eshop.

You can link your system to your club nintendo account when you go into the eshop, then you need to go to the club nintendo website & fill our the survey thing to get your stars

Eh? As soon as you press a button on the GamePad the display comes back on.

so it suddenly started working in 720p with my monitor out of nowhere... i was really worried i might be stuck in 480p

and is it just me or do games download at a reasonable speed (ie it takes a long time, but thats because they are huge), while updates are insanely slow?

I haven't got a WiiMote. I sold my Wii donkeys ago. And why should I need to buy one? Why can't it support the Pro controller? Why can't it let me turn the display off while playing. Again, simple stuff. Not asking for much.

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but if you intend to be a Wii U owner, you're going to need to have at least one Wiimote. Pro controller has zero motion control, and there will inevitably be many games which require Wiimotes.

I'm not excusing the lack of Pro controller support for NSMBU, but this is advice you should heed.

Dude, it's alright. You don't have to ask me all those questions. I don't have the answers. I didn't say you'd have to buy a Wii remote. I figured you were playing with one because you play alone and without needing the display of the gamepad. That was my situation. I didn't even consider that you might not have a Wii remote. But yes, you are right, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to just use the pad without the screen on. Even worse in my opinion is the fact that you can't play a two player game with one gamepad and one remote. You *need* to have two remotes. That's just fucking stupid. There's really no reason why it has to be like that and the gamepad suddenly becomes useless once you add another player.

Someone needs to clarify the audio situation for me. Since there are two seperate audio feeds, one for the gamepad and one for the console, how can you get both while playing with headphones?

one thing I dont like. I notice that you have to set up stereo sorround sound in each game as well.

This should really be a system wide setting.

I have no TV untill Monday, could someone help me power up my WiiU?

So that the menu shows up on the tab?
If it's new, it'll be difficult.

To synchronize the U Pad and the Wii U, you need to type 4 symbols on the pad that are displayed on the TV screen.

Do you feel lucky? There's only 256 combinations :D

I don't remember the screen being really useful besides this, and once installation done, you can switch TV screen and U Pad screen.

Probably, indeed... Good news for Nintendo, I guess. But a bit frustrating...

unfortunately, you can't. once you start the update, you can't cancel it.
Can you cut the sound ? After 2h (33%, yeah...), it's getting annoying ^_^
