have you tried resubmitting your Mii?

I can't get a Mii to look like me so over the past week I have been changing my Mii every few days moving the eyes changing the nose, changing color and just resubmit it. Some times it takes a few loads of Miiverse for the new Mii to show up to take the spot of the old one.

all you do is go home to Wii U Menu where your apps and games are click your Mii Photo
now under the photo click User Settings > View/Modify just keep following that until find the "Change Mii" button > Edit User Mii (make a little shirt color change to test it) hit next until you can hit the REGISTER Crown this is the page you can change the shirt color. Hit the Crown. You are done. Wait for Miiverse to load the new one. If this does not work something is up with the code some changes are going on.

the gamepad actually has a really nice screen. i was expecting DS quality blown up to be big but its almost on par with the vita screen.

i take it no one else here is weird and using it with a computer monitor?

if i'm stuck with 480p what are some good 100% otvp games to get?

It looks quite good, it's just the compression artefacts that are a little annoying. The screen itself is very nice though. My biggest surprise has been the surprisingly good sound quality of the speakers. I was trying Mario with the Wiimote recently and holy fuck the sound effects coming from the Wiimote speaker have never sounded as bad to me as after acclimating to hearing them from the GamePad's speakers.

HELP!

How do you stop the display mirroring in New Super Mario Bros Wii U - or turn it off altogether?

The GamePad display mirroring is really very distracting to me as I can see it out the bottom of my eye all the time - really winding me up. But for the life of me I cannot fathom how to turn the display off or stop the mirroring.

I found a way of turning the display off in the Wii U Home menu but then it just comes back on again as soon as you press a button?

Also I tried the Pro controller thinking that was the obvious solution, only to find the damn game doesn't support it!

Please someone help :(

I think you can only keep it off if you are playing with a wiimote. As soon as you press a button on the gamepad the screen will turn back on.

I (a Yank) have the same Miiverse Mii issue. I've tried just about everything to no avail. Interestingly though, I went home for Thanksgiving and it was fixed, but when I came back to school the issue arose again. So I'm wondering if it's some weird IP issue.

How did you set up your Mii? I used the 3DS transfer feature. I've since completely deleted that Mii and still have the blue question mark. *shrug*

Home -> controller settings -> turn off GamePad screen

But then it comes back on again as soon as you try to continue playing.

Damn :(

I don't have any Wiimotes, nor did I intend on buying any. This is ridiclous!

Have to say my experience with the Wii U so far is bordering on abysmal. BUT... and a big but... NSMBU is fucking amazing. Well, it would be if I could enjoy it without this irritating distraction anyway :(

I've put like 50 hours in the PS3 version. Game is awesome.

Here is my quick hitting review:

1) PS3 version is the better running version overall. However in the USA it's digital only.

2) Wii U version looks close with some slow down and missing some enemies, but the base content is the same. Plus you can stream the game to your pad I believe.

Buy it. There are well over 100 characters to use with a bunch of cool guest characters. I'd put the PS3 version slightly ahead due to performance. If you are adverse to digital, then get it on the Wii U. If you want to play on your pad without the TV on get it on Wii U. Either method, buy the game, it's great.

Thanks, might try. I liked Dynasty Warriors so this might be fun. Is it mostly 60fps or mostly 30fps?

Still recovering from the midnight launch ( which was great fun!)

Was in the first six people who hadn't pre ordered to buy a Wii U. Just a quick question - my main wara wara plaza still only shows comments from Nintendo.. but my Nintendoland Plaza is full of other people's miiverse comments - how do I get the main wara wara to show communities etc?

How long does it take to update? Is the Nintendo network a bottle neck? I was going to leave it updating and go the gym but it failed after 10 minutes but it appears to save where it left off?

So, the background downloading for the system update doesn't actually work then? At least not in Europe?

I hit cancel and played Mario and Nintendo Land for an hour. NOTHING was downloaded in the background. And when I go back to the system update and start it, I can't actually cancel it again. And the progress bar is at zero.

*Is* there any way to download the update in the background/cancel the update once it's started or is it all bullshit? Downloading it manually is agonizingly slow despite really fast internet here.

Mine didn't either. Spent two hours on Nintendoland came back to find nothing downloaded.

I tried looking at my router's log to see if I could find a domain that let me access Miiverse on a computer, but I couldn't find anything. I'm pretty tech-savvy, but networking stuff is a little out of my comfort zone. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable would have better luck.

I am not all that tech savvy but all you have to do is go to hatena.com the company who is working on it already had similar stuff online for Nintendo DSi you can go check it out.
anyway Iwata said Miiverse is web based app, soon anything with a web-browser will be able to access it with an NNID. Sure it is secured and hidden away right now but someone might show it on PC sooner or later. They have to be testing that side of it right now anyway before they can release the Smartphone app.

Try turning the brightness on the gamepad all the way down (in the home menu).

Maybe after the update? Not sure though, I got real people's posts like one day after launch.

I'm probably being really dense here but is there a club Nintendo code with the Wii U. I've got the card but there's no code on it!

Yeah the screens surpisingly good. Colours, brightness, angles etc. are great but the white levels aren't as good as the Vita.

I actually think the games look better on the Wii U controller though.

Most Vita games are either native res with no AA (or worse sub native and stretched up). NSMB seems to be shrinking the image down from the TV so the image looks amazingly smooth.

I've got the ZombieU bundle this morning from a normal department store. I didn't even expect they'd have such a thing. But I got it. It was the only ZombiU bundle though and other than that they had about 3 basics and 3 premiums. I was the only buyer while I was there (about 7min.) but I'd suspect my potential rivals were trying the usual suspects like Saturn or Media Markt first. All according to keikaku. :-D

Additionally got NSMBWU and a screen protector kit. Only at the cashier I realized that the ZombiU bundle is even more expensive than the premium pack. Wah! Hope that that pro controller will get some use. Ended up spending 460 bucks. But it's okay, I didn't expect that hype rising inside me to be honest. I woke up much too early and after the shopping I had to go through a normal work day.

But now, everything is ready to go. I'm currently loading initial patch. No problem at all setting up the Internet connection. Sucks for those experiencing problems. Your computer can help you with Gateway and DNS settings but finding the Wii U IP can be a problem if your router won't tell you. You can also use ping command to see which IPs are already connected to devices but I don't know if the WiiU console is responding to pings (devices are not forced to).

The patch loading is kind of slow, but I expected that, since the WLAN signal is not too good (it must go straight through the bathroom, two thick walls and the tub). I originally planned to do the setup near my router for a better signal but alas, the TV turned out to be mandatory for being able to do the initial setup. The download will take about 50 min. total to complete I guess, perhaps a little less. At first I was a little worried since the progress bar was empty for about 2 minutes, but it's going at a steady rate now. No disconnections so far.... Argh, just as I type this, I got one! Lol Will go on later.

Doesn't work for me. I'm going to have a mental breakdown.

you HAVE to delete all connections, then input EVERYTHING manually to get it to work. I'm using a Virgin Super Hub, and tried just modifying my DNS at first, and it wasn't working at all. Afte deleting everything and doing it manually, it connected fine.

*U is updating*

I totally forgot about the paperwork!

I'm guessing there is no code cos you register on the Wii-U? My Nintendoland has a code?

Can you carry over your purchase history from the GC and Wii Stars club thing?

hey, it reaches my bedroom! lost stability going up the stairs but was ok when after that. very nice. thats probably around 20-25ft plus a floor and solid bed to go through

edit: my legs might be too much.. might play with moving the console a bit, feels like i'm on the limit

Mine reaches front 2 bedrooms (above where the wii U is set up) but loses it a bit going upstairs. Bathroom is at the back of the house, so out of range but can't have everything :).

I got my Wii U to connect to the WiFi router but not the Internet. I get the 103-2001 error, any idea? I tried renewing my DHCP lease and I cycled my router.

LOL comfy console gaming! Good one Nintendo :p

Wii (E)U get!

First impressions / realisations:

1) Holy crap, new Nintendo console!
2) Holy crap, that gamepad is really comfortable, plus the screen is gorgeous and responsive
3) Holy crap, Pikmin 3 is actually happening and it's coming out in a few months!

Edit:

4) Holy crap, the classic controller feels just plain f$%^ing weird after getting used to the 360 controller.

Well just got it as well and the first thing it does during first user setup is hard lock on me. Hope that's not going to happen too much but from what I've read it's "normal".

Mine did too, took 40 minutes for download and install.

Anyway, spent my day playing Nintendoland and Trine 2, as well as interacting with the Miiverse. Trine is beautiful!

You're lucky...

1h gave me 13 millimeters of the 73 millimeters progression bar. If it's linear, that would mean a ~5h30 update -_-'

By the way, I'm barely out of range from my bedroom (I have a duplex appartment, it's the room directly above the one where the Wii U is). By "barely", I mean I have a signal, but it hiccups and sometimes stop working.

So unusable, but I think I can probably try something to improve the reception, since it's a close miss. Especially since my bedroom radio uses WiFi (squeezebox), I have a couple of ethernet-over-powerlines boxes, my Wii U is close to the WiFi box and so on...

Any suggestions ? Wii U pad uses a special WiFi signal. Any idea on the canal used (or a way to check that) ? Can it be changed ? Anything I should avoid near the Wii U or in the direct line between the console and the pad ? (since it's going up, it goes right through the TV, or very close to it)

So since my premium bundle didnt come with Nintendo land - Amazon emailed me a code to download it free off the eshop.

I would have preferred this disk..

Oh well :)

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
Amazon emailed me the code too - even though I've already got the disc version.
I think they've done it for everyone that ordered the black premium.

OK, so got my Wii U today, ZombiU Premium Pack along with New Super Mario Bros Wii U. First impressions...

Positives

+ Large, clear and bright screen on the GamePad

+ Nintendo games finally in HD!

+ New Super Mario Bros is charming, magical, colourful and beautiful. I've wanted an HD 2D Mario Bros ever since my first HDTV.

Negatives

- Moving between different applications on the Home menu takes way, way too long - even if it's just the Settings menu!

- Downloading stuff takes way too long, eg the update

- Moving between the GamePad and my beautiful GT50 is distracting for me - can't imagine how distracting and confusing this might be for the 'casual' gamers the original Wii brought in. Even during setup, I was getting in a muddle about where I should be looking. And I'm a Computing graduate and a seasoned gamer of 25 years! Perhaps just not a very good one ;)

- Can't turn the display off on the GamePad. Really, really, really annoying and distracting. Playing NSMBU, I can see the mirrored display out of the bottom of my eyes all the time and it's irritating as anything. Even with the display brightness turned down it's an annoyance. Even more annoying in a dim room this evening too. Why no option to turn the display off when you're playing the game on the TV!? Simple stuff, Nintendo. Simple stuff.

- So this supports three different controllers. GamePad, Wiimote and Pro Controller. So I thought the Pro Controller could be the solution to be aforementioned problem. Unfortunately I can't use the Pro Controller with NSMBWU - why oh why? So, yes it supports Wiimotes. But my ZombiU Premium pack didn't come with a Wiimote, Nintendo. It did, however, come with a Pro Controller.

- No demos on the eShop for the downloadable games. Come on, Nintendo! Wake up.

- No analogue sticks on the Pro Controller, seems a little backward.

- The rumble on the GamePad is definitely not rumble. That's vibrate. Noisy mobile vibrate.

OK, so a bit whiney I know. I'm sorry, but I'm just somewhat disappointed I'll be honest. Perhaps if I hadn't owned a 360 and PS3 for the past 6-7 years and I was upgrading from a Wii then I'd be feeling more positive. Either way it's early days and the real reason I bought this is simple: Nintendo games in HD. So, bring on more of the games Nintendo, quickly and without so much of a drought. And I'll be a happy bunny.

Although its probably for the best they emailed it to everyone. Imagine people who bought this as a Christmas present only to open it on xmas day & release there was no game :D
