Reggie did said that: "The best looking games will be on the Nintendo platform." in one of the CES interviews.
Either he's confident, either it's pure PR or he knows.
How does he know what Naughty Dog is making?

Yep, Gamestop is going to give them away in a drawingHas this been posted on GAF already?

The more I read from you on Zelda, the more I realise I *want* your heart to be broken. Sorry.
I hope its never mature, and I hope more than anything it never has a script as bad as some of Kojimas.
Man the controller looks huge. I know that everyone is saying that it is comfortable to hold, but it still looks huge!
Oh, going along those lines it would be awesome if they used the controller to have "widgetized" HUDs that I can pin on the screen at will.
Everything starts off on the uPad, but if I don't want to have to constantly look down at the controller and I want to have the game clock always visible, I can just pin it on the tv screen. Stats for just one of my characters? pinned on the screen. Health/MP bars only? pinned. Loot obtained
Man, as lame as it might be, the potential to revolutionize HUDs and game menus is what I'm most excited about with the uPad. Especially since I see it being the easiest way for 3rd parties to utilize the screen for multiplatform games.
Clean TV is one thing I am definitely looking forward to. I mean sure there are things that you'd still want to have on the screen, but damn I wish games had a 'hold button to show HUD'.
I want this.Has this been posted on GAF already?

They should have warnings on it ......so it doesn't fall on small children or cats and dogs.....
I agree for most games, except Metroid. The HUD is integral to the feeling of claustrophobia.Agreed. I hate HUD clutter and having that screen hold all the normal items/health/whatever will be nice. Hopefully a lot of developers will take advantage of that and considering how easy of an application it'd be, I have to imagine they will.

Reggie still doesn't know anything and probably isn't alerted of big moves within the company until they've already happened.Okay, first, put some comma in there. Second, he's the President of Nintendo of America, damn it. It's 100% sure they have the Wii U at Redmond, working on translating the OS, the games and whatnot.

In a Metroid Prime style game I'd want a copy of exactly what I see on the TV, but with the touch screen acting as another form of mouse-look, but one where her gun and body don't move along with the camera... ie. you move the camera using the analog stick, the gun and everything moves, you move it using the touch screen and its as though you're just moving her head. Why? I'd want to be able to look down at Samus' left arm using it - and then actually touch the buttons on her arm to call her gunship and tap out commands, bring up the map, the menu etc.. it'd be pointless and gimmicky, but I can imagine it being immersive![]()
Wii: "It's not the hardware underneath, but what I do that defines me."
GAF: "Gamecube?"

He really said that?May I remark that it's Reggie and NoA that told Aonuma and his team to "step it up" concerning Skyward Sword's graphics? They did after the E3 2010 presentation. (Everybody remembers those awful trees. They are better in the final version.)
He really said that?
Oh snap, Reggie has some influencing power! Good to hear NOA doing something good at least. It was mentioned in one of the Iwata Asks for Skyward Sword. I can't remember if Reggie himself did it, but it was clearly said that NoA asked them to "step it up" concerning Skyward Sword's graphics.

Whilst I'm far from a Reggie apologist, he must have a hard time being in a market where gamers want HD, DLC, ONLINE, MORE POWA, BIGGA, FASTAA11!!!!!11! but having to sell the Wii.
I'm sure he's a cold business man but I doubt he overlooks the desires of the western gamer completely and would love to have had an HD system to pimp.
Do you remember that "mature" trailer we saw before Wind Waker? Do you really want to go down this road again?
I see no practical use for it by yourself.Dunno if this was posted but here is a other CES Tokyo street demo from IGN.
Looks friggin' sweet.

Why would you want to move your body and look through a small screen when you could move the camera on your bigger tv?
You can only look at one screen at a time.
Now... if 1 player is focused on the TV screen and you're able to look around that makes some sense.
But I can't see anything designed for a single player as anything buy a gimmick.

Too bad there's never been a platform to test the concept of two screen gaming before so we could know if it works or not.
Wait.

Not to mention Nintendo Technology Development is in Redmond as well, and NTD is Nintendo's console hardware design team.Okay, first, put some comma in there. Impressive work there. I wonder who did the demo.
this is deserving of its own thread? no?
Man I want Crystal Chronicles 2 on this thing so bad.
Or even just an HD, online remake of the original.

wow, first time I watched all the demos. Very interesting.
I'm looking forward to all this potential being ignored by 3rd parties.
I don't think we should underestimate the immersion factor. If in a game you had to peer through something, or scan in Metroid it could really bring you in if you lifted the controller up like a window into the world with an alternate view. Even if you're not actually watching the main screen at the same time. Same with a bombing run. While a button could switch the view on the tv to be looking down, having your controller showing that view already so you glance down to see your target would feel better I think.I see no practical use for it by yourself.

well the best looking games were on the wii. just not the graphically best.
Artstyle > polygons
The graphical glitches were more annoying than the polygons, honestly. Screen tearing, pop-up textures, ugly colors, pixelated shadows; it's like a lot of developers forgot to make a game look good with all the power they had.
Of course, the Wii didn't have any of that because it wasn't powerful enough to do it in the first place.
I see no practical use for it by yourself.

I imagine 1:1 aiming being really fun with the controller as well. Imagine playing a Star Wars game and manning a turrent on the Millennium Falcon, with the uPad serving as your crosshairs and moving your entire body to aim exactly as it was done in the movies.
Now you've gone and made me want a star wars game. One, that we'll never probably get...
A fully interactive, motion controlled star wars game on wii u which also uses the wii pad for pod racing aswell as the aforementioned space battles. Seems like a no brained and a sure fire way for lucasarts to make money. Like you said, one day....It's right up there with that light saber game.
Some day...
