i'm going to flash my Trophy to the leaked (official) mango firmware tonight. i don't have a load of apps, or conversations i need to keep, so it should be pretty painless.

On my phone I have:

Bouncy Mouse
Breakout
Chickens Can Dream
Danger Wing
Fastball 2
Infinite Flight
NinjaBoy
Orb
Pirate's Mind
Platformance (2 of them)
Swipy Man
Vanessa Saint-Pierre
Wordament

Thanks for the list! I've seen Platformance mentioned before so I'll look into that. Tried out NinjaBoy, Orb, and Pirates Mind at lunch. PM seemed sort of eh at least in the non time limited 3 minute mode. NB seemed pretty cool though, and Orb wasn't bad for what it is.

Think I'm gonna pull the trigger and buy the full version of Vizati since it's only $1.29. Granted I have points in my account that I could just buy the XBLI version on the 360, but I'd rather have it on my phone. If only fucking MS would let me use my gosh damn points on my phone.

Thanks a lot for the list, I didn't have a lot of those on my phone.

My girlfriend steals my phone all time just to play Wordament. I must admit the you vs internet aspect makes it very addictive.

Question: How do I get videos on my phone onto facebook/internet?
currently, you have to save the vid on your PC via Zune then post on fb from there. mango update allows you to post your bids directly to fb.

anyone on t-mo USA getting really strange/slow service today? I smell the upgrade.

Now they just need to add a YT uploader and we'd be boss!

I'm really happy with the possibility of hardware variation with the new Mango phones :)

Before Mango:
- QSD8X50 (1Ghz, Adreno 200)

With Mango:
- MSM7X30 (800Mhz, Adreno 205)
- MSM8X55 (1Ghz, Adreno 205)
- MSM8X55T (1.4-1.5Ghz, Adreno 205)

Hopefully we'll see a wider range of price points this time around.

So is the Focus S using the 8X55T but under clocked to 1.4 Ghz?

Damn..between the latest iPhone 5 rumor, the announcement of the new Samsung phone and Mango around the corner, I'm considering WP7 as my main phone more and more.

I think the one thing that would hold me back is how seamless iCloud will be. I'd mostly enjoy putting a new calendar date/contact into my phone and have it pushed automatically to my other devices. Anything similar to WP7?

Works for me between my work outlook account, hotmail account and phone. Everything syncs.

This has been in Windows Phone since its release. It can sync calendar/contacts with Windows Live, Google, and maybe some other services.

Man this phone feels so unfinished... Can I add custom sounds/ringtones yet?

I had a sync it with my computer, burn my video on a disc, and then upload it to facebook. ffs.

It's a shame all these indie games go unnoticed just because they aren't Xbox Live-enabled...

They have all been pushing for years to get achievements enabled on Xbox 360 indies so I'm hoping that ends up paying off in some form. At the very least I thought they could support Open Feint from WP? Also it should pretty pretty easy for them to go pitch to MSFT and get them to approve XBL support, because obviously MSFT wants games and they are already good at writing C# XNA games. You see this happening with games like Shoot 1up.

Customs ringtones and uploading video to Facebook is in Mango

Uh, what? Why did you burn it to a disc?

I cannot believe you guys put betas on phones you use in real life. SMH

It's a very stable beta. I have been using for the last two weeks and it works fine. Actually I have a hard time going back to NoDo before the official Mango drop.

I would be happy to do a clean wipe when Mango comes out (I'd actually prefer this, honestly), but there's no way to back up application data :/ Zune is the worst part about Windows Phone at the moment.

Are there no official pictures of the new Samsung phones yet? What kind of unveiling it is when you announce phones and don't give the press any photos?! Third tier platform indeed.

That's what you usually do, when you announce some lame feature phones.

...

They're probably just holding back for the rumored "launch" in two days.

OK. My friend has a very silly ringer bug (or is it a feature?) on his HTC HD7 (T-Mobile) that I cannot find anyone on the internet with the same problem.

Here is how it happens: if the phone is on a table and the phone rings, holding it will turn the ringer volume down gradually till you can barely hear it.

Only happens when it is sitting on a surface.

Will a hard reset solve it? Oe perhaps Mango?

MobileTechWorld: Oohhhh snap... little voice told me #Nokia Sea Ray (or whatever the name is) is coming out mid-otcober #wp7 #mango #microsoft

Legit? Not legit? I don't know.

aaaannnndddddd

WhatsApp: Did you know that mangoes account for approximately half of all tropical fruits produced worldwide?

It's an HTC specific functionality. Check the HTC apps installed on the phone. One of them will have the setting to turn that off.

Thanks for the tips, but I've hit a brick wall.

I can't seem to install Zune. It keeps throwing up access denied errors when it comes to installing and there's very little usable info on the net. Anyone have any tips/advice?

Is it possible to just connect the phone to my PC and copy files over without going through Zune?

What error message do you get?

No you need Zune. Try running the installer as administrator...what windows are you running?

"Can't create folder in C:/program files/Zune; access denied"

I've tried changing the folder/creating a new folder, but it doesn't work.

I am the admin, it keeps saying access denied. Windows XP: SP3.

OH MY GOD.

I love you, Van.

So does the facebook calendar. Everything was so easy. I flashed the phone. Forgetting all my contacts etc. It all synced up without me doing shit.Disaster averted.

You don't have admin rights/ownership of c:/program files. Do you have another OS on you computer?

Nope, just Windows XP. Hmm, I'm logged in as admin, is it possible to be logged in as admin and still not have admin rights? I don't have a virus/spyware, do I? :(

Anyway, I've just started a Windows driver update, hopefully that will help.

I think you can check the file/folder permissions of c:\program files by rightclicking and then selecting properties, but I would really recommend using an OS that is not 10 years old, unless your computer is an abakus. ;)

I disagree.

Is it missing features? Sure (though I'd prefer online backup ala Kin anyway) ... but it isn't a bloated hog like some other solutions.

It gets bloated, if you store your media on your windows home server (like 0,0001% of the WP users). :(

Eh? It works fine for me and I use WHS. A bit slow to access files maybe, but that's just the nature of the home server. At least WP has the Zune software, Android has zilch!

There's a bug that WHS users can get. If your media is stored on a WHS and you try to play a song, Zune can take up to 1.7 GB of RAM and 100% of your CPU (25% here, that's one entire core on my machine). That is pretty annoying, 'cus I have to restart the software every time that happens.

tomwarren: Testing for Windows Phone “Mango” firmware update has been completed and approved. Awaiting deployment from Microsoft - says Vodafone AU
Sooo, September 15th, yes?

If you have tons of media, obviously your server is 'bloated' in that regard regardless of what SW you use to index it (or even if you aren't using any SW to index it).

That's not what I was getting at.

Also, I'm in the 0.0001% :D

Ahh ... this. Luckily I haven't run into it. Though as you said, it's a bug ... not a design choice :p
