Damn if Flowers isn't on the windows phone team anymore then there's truly no hope anymore. Time to pack it up WPGaf he was the whole team.
Terry hired two people to replace me. I was superfluous!

For ATT, you wait a few months assuming you can. Should be an 8.1 flagship in the fall.I am looking to purchase a Windows phone, I currently have Galaxy 2 for work and I really dislike android. I have an Iphone for personal use but I am tired of carrying 2 phones around so I am getting ride of the Droid, because I just don't like it. The problem is the iphone is terrible for work. I think a windows phone would be best for me. My question is I know know much about the phones available. What should I look into? I like to do a lot of research before I make a purchase. AT&T is the provider for me.
no. My change in scenery was simply because now was the opportune time. It's really easy to shoehorn yourself into an area like security, and it was something that I'm not sure I want to do for a long time. The time spent was certainly worth it, as I've grown a greater appreciation for the fragility of the modern state of security (large swathes of research done on open-source products, hardware, websites, etc etc).
Nearly all of my colleagues will still be working either primarily or with split effort on WP. The new OS Group organization under Terry and intiated by Ballmer's One Microsoft is a lot more integrated than before. That, of course, is possible due to the alignment of WP kernel and Xbox OS's inherent similarity to Windows8. The groups can develop things more easily to work for all three platforms. All that I can really say without treading into deeper waters

This picture had me thinking, do we have an "x will save the Windows Phone" chalkboard? I get the feeling we really should have one.
Hop (hah) over to Cricket for a few months, get a 635 free AR or a 1320 cheap AR, hop back for the flagship in the fall.My Lumia 900 is really starting to struggle. I have an upgrade from AT&T ready but I cant bite on the 1020 even though it is a .01 upgrade. Now Amazon has the LG G3 and the HTC One M8 both for $99 with an upgrade.
I want to stick with Windows phone but I don't know if my 900 will make it. Any news on what new Lumias are on the immediate horizon
Windows Phone was launched in 2010.
WhatsApp came to Windows Phone in 2011.
Notifications have been shit in the past.
It took Microsoft 4 years to implement a notification center.
4 years later, Notifications are still shit.
What the fuck is the problem?!
Seriously, if there's one thing I will not miss about Windows Phone, then it's the shitty notification system.

Wait for GDR1.
Lol, youre being way too optimistic. It's more like WP9 GDR3 if ever.

Since no one else is saying it, congrats on the new job. I know how easy it is to get stuck doing the same thing at a company for a long time. I was able to eventually break out of that, thankfully and it felt great.
500 new apps a day? Big fucking deal if most of them are absolute dross.

How's your Z2?

Glance screen is great though. Was playing with my nexus 4 last week (got it back from my wife) and having to press a button just to see anything was surprisingly frustrating. Glance + double tap to unlock is something I'd find hard to lose

Unless you want the 6" phone, which is available on ATT now (but there is apparently an updated version of that phone coming soon to multiple carriers including ATT, so you should probably wait either way).

Notifications on windows phone seemed better in 8.1, though reliability was still below android and iOS. On android, you have your own set of challenges, like phantom notifications where the app doesn't identify itself and spam notifications.

That's not an issue in Android anymore, since you can long-press any notification, view app info, and then disable all notifications from that app on the system level. No more spam. But not everyone knows you can do this, I guess.
Yet Nokia didn't think the 930 was worthy of Glance. Should've went LCD rather than OLED.
Wait, what? I just ordered a 930. How can it not have glance? My 920 has glance!?
Glance isn't that useful to me, especially when it is upside down
I usually out my phone into my pocket upside down, so when I take it out the time is correct. Will try turning it off on my 920 for a few days, see how I get on :/
That's what I've been saying since the Lumia ICON was known not to have Glance. The 930/ICON are shitty Lumias, if they can't support of one the standout features. Apparently it's the 1080p OLED panel that causes problems.
Pretty dramatic to call a phone shitty because of one feature.
Glance was actually upside down on my phone for some reason. Had to reboot to fix it lol
Others getting duplicated toasts from Twitter since the latest update?
I love glance, so if in the future it was a choice between phones and one had it and the other not, I'd definitely go for the GLANCE capable one.
Super feature, and I wish Nokia had made it just enough of a priority to get it into the ICON/930, thought perhaps there was no OLED panels period at that size that worked with it. Bah!
Gotta call it how it is. The 930 isn't exciting in the first place, removing a feature from the predecessor surely doesn't help.
Wait, what? I just ordered a 930. How can it not have glance? My 920 has glance!?
Edit: and no double tap to wake? Nooo.
Glance mode and passive notifications is one reason I think smart watches could have some value. (Do MS have any plans here?)
K, good to see it's not just me.Yep.
A non issue for me then.Double tap to wake is there, it's just Glance that isn't.
Others getting duplicated toasts from Twitter since the latest update?
Yep, that's one problem, but I also had notifications where the app wouldn't identify itself and the long press wasn't an option. I think I eventually found it was one of those pre installed carrier bloatware apps.
I think my 920 is really dying now after the fall and cracked screen. It's like it's running at half cores and half speed, ugh. Will be getting a 630 today then, sooner than planned but oh well.
edit: yes also dupe twitter notifications.
My 920 is still doing great!
Guys, what would be the correct translation of "Please understand" in French? I don't want to use Google translate for that and then be wrong.
