The spinning gears are taking forever. Just as my lunch break started, too.
I get so nervous seeing my phone with spinning gears
At least they added a progression bar with GDR2 or 3.
True, but when that progress bar doesn't move for 15 mins, I get nervous!
It didn't move for 15 minutes and then just jumped right to the end. Phone's rebooting now. Now right next to 8.1?
Same. So around 20 mins for update 1 on my Lumia 920 for those interested.
Now the next update...
Migrating data, damn this part takes long...
Same here.Still migrating data. ffs
Barely any progress made so far.
I probably should have switched my phone to "US English" before updating (for Cortana).
What language is your default?
The Queen's English. No Cortana in sight.
Is this The Big One?

"For the first time, Windows Phone 8.1 feels obvious. That is of course largely because it now works much the same as Android and iOS, but I could now hand my Lumia 1020 to my iPhone-wielding mother and shed quickly understand how to use it."
Finally the OS becomes manageable for iOS users now that it has the same notification center that iOS didn't have until recently!
arstechnica said:Another small but welcome change: in full-screen apps, such as games, pressing the Search button will not take you out of the app and into Bing or Cortana. You'll have to press the button twice to do that. It's a nice bid to reduce the number of accidental task switches.
