Was that TLR-Darkness popsicle.gif from this year?
It would be unethical to lead the voters on!

TV list:
1. Attack on Titan
Movie list:
1. Sword Art Online Extra Edition
We can, sure. It just shouldn't clutter the main voting thread imo!
I can barely even remember what I've watched this year that actually aired this year.
...Well, I know DokiDoki Precure did, I guess I'll vote for that.

Pretty cute episode felt more like 2 episodes though which I'm not sure I was happy with.
:chet
You know, Attack on Titan is a far better show than SAO. It's not great, but putting it in the same tier feels wrong. It's also better than Kill la Kill.
I'm sure the quality of the show would have been slightly higher if one were, clearly it is you who is under the influence of something.Attack on Titan was great, you guys are high.
So... if I say you I never watched a Gundam series (or OVA, movie, etc), what would you recommend me? One thing please, I'm not going now to watch all from the 70s onwards.
Think I like stuff like Evangelion or Code Geass despite being mech series, not because they are mech series.
It's like trying to be decide between different varieties of poison, but the pacing in Attack on Titan is truly turgid. I can't say that it's better than Kill la Kill, even though that show has been fairly disappointing all round.

I disagree with that appreciation, I think there are... three, maybe four too slow episodes in total, from a 25 eps. series isn't so bad. It isn't a pure action series, but it also moves over the mistery, thriller, suspense genres.
If AoT is slow, what's Serial Experiments Lain? or the old HxH? or Texnolyze? or Wolf Rain? or the first half of Steins Gate? or a hundred series or so, some of them considered as classic?
Best things on the franchise are 08th MS Team, 0080 War in the Pocket, Turn A Gundam, and maybe G Gundam if you like that sort of thing.So... if I say you I never watched a Gundam series (or OVA, movie, etc), what would you recommend me? One thing please, I'm not going now to watch all from the 70s onwards.

Man AOTY format is a downer
There go the next two pages.
There's a difference between a slow plot that's just spreading a little bit of content over a long time and a "slow" plot that's being filled with atmosphere/characterization/etc.
I have a feeling Garden of Words is going to get looked over in the movie category.

Neppuu Kairiku Bushi Road
This ended up being a rather enjoyable TV movie with no real expectations attached. Kinema Citrus and Orange definitely did a good job with the animation and direction, so it's a pretty well animated and fun action adventure film set in a post-apocalyptic Japan with mechs, swordsmen, monsters, a ninja boy, and a terrible protagonist.
Storywise it's a pretty generic fallen princess meets strange superpower boy story, with lots of predictable tropes and not a lot of originality. Ame is a pretty awful protagonist who has self-confidence issues and her motivations mostly act as a plot device, while the villain is a totally underdeveloped annoying ass dude who tries to talk the audience to death every time he appears.
In a way the writing reminds me of Gargantia (also featuring lots of Nitroplus writing!) but worse, because it tries to condense a lot of world building into a 90 minute experience and the writers clearly aren't experienced in doing that at all. Thankfully the dialogue heavy portions mostly only impact the tail end of the movie, and the direction is strong enough to carry scenes without much dialogue so it feels brisk for 2/3s of the movie.
Solid character animation, amazing background art, some pretty good action, and really nice effects in the climax. The world setting is pretty fun too, even though it doesn't get fully utilized. I really liked the male lead too, and he made it possible to put up with Ame in every scene they're together in. Just don't go in expecting much from the story, and I think it's a pretty enjoyable holiday TV movie for anime fans.
Well my first two choices are a lock with LWA and Wolf Children but I'm having a reeeeeally hard time deciding between Garden of Words and the Blue Exorcist movie.I have a feeling Garden of Words is going to get looked over in the movie category.
I expect I'll be alone on that.
Oh nice impressions for this one and the last paragraph seems to at least and highly suggest that its is as entertaining and enjoyable that I hoped for. And nice screens. I just hope somehow I can watch it in the english language. Was it based off some previous property?
It's not based on any existing property but the concept for the anime has existed for about ten years now. Gainax was originally going to make it in the early 00s, but then the guy planning it (the author of Trinity Blood) suddenly died, and the project was put on hold for years.
AoT mostly consists of the latter outside a few episodes in the middle where the pacing is pretty bad. For a good chunk of the show, the pacing is fine and something big happens in each episode.

AOTY = Attack on Titan (of the) Year
No anime could ever match its greatness. Amazing Characters in an Amazing world.
Hey, how dare you not trash talk AoT? Scram you heretic!
Oh lord I need to stay out of there.
sounds like something an "elitist" would sayYou could accuse everyone who disagrees with you of mindless groupthink and hostility toward dissenting opinions, or you could start giving them actual reasons why they're wrong.
