Very makoto-like

Don't start ..

Kancolle is huge, once you start seeing the characters you can't go back , the whole comiket was shallowwed by kancolle and nobody was trully able to resist.
If you start buying figurines you're doomed .. not even a question of "where is my wallet money " but "why don't i have a wallet anymore ?"

My wallet can take a lot right now.
I am hoping for more Date a Live figures though so I can concentrate on that.
A Precure like Makoto would be pretty nice I reckon.

Inferno Cop - Episodes 1-13

Words cannot describe this show! I'm still speachless about it!

Gintama - Episode 13

It's been almost a year since I left this off. Still as funny as it was back then! I loved the 'pirate interview' bit the most! Also Sazae-san reference in the episode preview made me happy!

Ojamajo Doremi - Episode 1

Felt like watching one of these. It's pretty good so far and I'll definately continue watching it! Doremi is such a klutz!

Then why does he go back to his own time?

He used his last leap to save Makoto. His time in the present was only ever temporary anyway - it's just that he got attached to the time period (as well as Makoto), so much that he was delaying the inevitable.

So now we get battle of the hackers episode where you display your superior programming skills by mashing your keyboard as fast as possible. It's actually been pretty neat how the Angels fights have had a lot of variety where they had to use different tactics to beat each one. I actually would have preferred if this was an Alien inspired episode since the Angel did get pretty close, but that's only cause I find the hacking battles too silly.

This episode also reminded me about
the whole Adam thing that Kaji brought over. I was actually thinking that was the reason the Angels have been so adamant about attacking their headquarters for the past few episodes then I checked and that drilling Angel was before they met Kaji. So now I don't know if there is a particular reason beyond the Angels are smart enough to attack the enemy's headquarters.

The underdogs lost this round. Feels bad that the 2nd years weren't able to keep their lead. Of course, the main characters have to win, so I didn't expect it to end any differently, but still, kind of unsatisfied by the outcome.

Pretty much.
Youre only allowed 3 time leaps and Makoto was only able to undo everything because she time leaped back to when she still had three. Same applied to Chiaki

lol

I was hoping someone else would react to the ending. So "good".

If I had taken a picture of my face at the moment that happened it would have been angrykermit.gif

So what are the best shows of this season excluding space dandy?

There might be some outliers but easily the one that seems to be enjoyed and praised as having a lot of potential is Noragami. Besides that I guess the runner-ups would be Hamatora and Tonari no seki-kun

But Noragami has zetsubou sensei as lead and has a great OS. It's hard to beat that.

SO GOOD.

IT'S ALL SO GOOD.

The animation is better, the colors, the characterization, the music is stellar, the movements of both mecha and characters, hell, even the bad CGI has improved!

God I love this show so so so so so much.

oh shit, RIP Ichiro Nagai :(

Sad in retrospect: he'd apparently just voiced the ramen alien in Space Dandy ep2. I'll always remember him for his great work in the Takahashiverse as Happousai and Cherry.

So next up on my backlog was something about as far away from high-profile fantasy war as I could get. In the year 2017... which certainly must have seemed more distant when the show was actually airing... a group of computer-generated AI idols blink out of existence by a virus and a group of real ones have to replace them.

I find it interesting that this show can trace its lineage back to Cream Lemon, the OVA series that gave the (Western) fandom the term "lemon" in the first place. The sexiness has been toned down, but it's still there a bit. Having Minori Chihara voice a dark-skinned, semi broken-Japanese girl isn't the kind of role I'm used to from her, and it's clear that Tomo is voiced by a gravure idol. When a pro like Ami Koshimizu is acting alongside her, the difference can't be more obvious.

If there's any show it reminds me of so far, I'd say it's AKB0048, with the sci-fi-ish elements and the opening stages focusing on auditions. Its links to its source material are few, but as far as idol anime go, it's got a little more going for its premise than Lovedol.

WUG reminded me that this show existed in the first place.

The opening's catchy, if a little retro-feeling, and the ED by Nao Nagasawa is nice. I knew she was sort of a singer in Hurricaneger, but I had no idea she was briefly one in real life too.

RIP

Its surprising to me that he's still active. He's best known as the dad from Sazae-san (ongoing), the doctor from Yamato and alot of other super iconic characters.

Yamato Final

So here's my actual write-up of what I thought of the show. Been a while since I've done something like this so hopefully is doesn't end up reading as a garbled mess of ideas put together. I'll just spoiler the whole thing for convenience.

Overall, I had a great time watching this. The animation and music were superb (though there was one track with a total porno "wah-wah" at the beginning that made me think things were going to get steamy literally every time) and the story was well told. Every episode had me glued to the screen, wondering what was going to happen next. However, that isn't to say the show didn't have its share of problems. And yes, I know that this is a remake/reimagining of something created 30+ years ago but my complaints still stand.
I'll start with the obvious problem that seems to stand out for everyone that watches this, and that is the fanservice. It just seemed out of place and honestly made me feel rather uncomfortable at times. About ten episodes in the camera seemed determined to show me Yuki's ass whenever possible, and it always came off as really forced. I've already mentioned earlier how it's hilarious that the men got relatively normal clothing while the women got tight latex suits, and the camera always seemed to try to remind the audience just how tight they are with a lot of below-the-waist shots from behind. Of course the absolute worst offender in this regard was the scene in episode 24 when they all go swimming (apparently only like 3 male members of the crew decided to join in on the fun, by the way). Nobody is going to watch Yamato for the fanservice, there's no reason to have it.

I was going to put here about the show sometimes didn't really know what it wanted to do, but thinking back on it, that does not really occur that much. Aside from the aforementioned terrible swimming scene, there is another scene I believe a few episodes earlier in which (sorry, terrible with names) the grey-haired girl, the Iscandarian, and the blue-skinned girl are all eating ice cream. It was meant to come across as a comedy moment but it just ends up feeling awkward and out of place. After the first 20 or so episodes showing how serious the grey-haired girl is and her frustration at Kodai's obliviousness to her feelings, she suddenly lightens up and its played for laughs. At the same time we get a totally hilarious "lol she's an alien and doesn't know earth food!" moment. It just stuck out to me as being incredibly awkward and contrasting with thetone of the rest of the show. Basically, they had no idea how to insert light-hearted or "breather" moments when things started getting really serious

My final (and biggest) issue is that some of the plot development seemed to occur out of sheer coincidence with a little bit of Deus ex Machina thrown in for good measure. The absolute worst, bar none, is when the Gamilas fleet, who were literally within 5 seconds of destroying the Yamato, were ordered to retreat and left. It felt like an ass pull of epic proportions. I know it was all a set-up and that's why they called Domel back, but it's still completely absurd. The other moment is when Yuki gets captured by Gamilas soldiers. This raid of course happens at the one moment in the entire series where she just happens to not be on the bridge looking at the radar (excluding when she was off on a mission). Unless I missed something, it was pretty absurd.

I was going to complain about Delmer surviving the explosion here but I rewatched it and saw that they did in fact jump beforehand. But still, fuck episode 25. Fortunately they left it light on the crew-killing or I would have raged super hard.

I'm pretty tired of this write-up by now,so I'll finish by saying that while I enjoyed the action scenes of the later episodes, I thought the real strength of the show was in the characters and the world-building that occur earlier on. I would totally dig watching these guys just going on wacky space adventures on a daily basis. In fact, I would say that episode 7 (I believe it was 7) was my favorite because it was just seeing a day in the life of the crew members. There was a huge ensemble of characters, and it sucked seeing just enough of them to pique your interest, only for them to never get fully fleshed out or get time in the limelight.

8/10

I was going to mention that, but the character designs probably would rub outside people the wrong way. :lol The show is great nonetheless and has the best OP of this season next to Space Dandy.

Hell yeah it does
Kate is superdorable. Im sure some of you appreciate the other girls too.

So what are the best shows of this season excluding space dandy?

Nourin, Mikakunin, Nisekoi and Sakura Trick are awesome.

EDIT: If you're into the short ones too, Tonari no Seki-kun and Onee-chan ga Kita are really good. Pupa is disturbing as hell, I'll keep watching it too, but I wouldn't say it's one of the best so far.

EDIT2: Nothing can get in the way of my love for Candy Store, though.

My favorites are Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha and Noragami.

You reminded me I still didn't watch Inari! Will get to it soon.

I don't think I'm going to spoiler tag, because I dunno. lol

Anyway, as for the fanservice - they are still selling to guys. Looking at the merchandising, where they are trying to get nerds to buy 150 dollar figures of the Yamato girls, it makes sense that they are going for that audience.

It's unfortunate that the medium as evolved from selling nerds shitty plastic models of space ships to shitty plastic models of girls in space suits, but there we are.

And hey, as our Yuki has told us in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zsasw6xWK4o
The Yamamoto models come with ahego to put on her head!

At the very least, the otaku moments - such as the nurse cosplaying - are mostly forgotten as the series gets into its crazier moments.

As for Yamamoto and her place in the "love triangle", I will just say that if they were never interested in rebooting the canon pairings (unlike Star Trek, which mashed Uhura and Spock together just to fuck with people) then abandoning that whole triangle entirely was the right move. The homosocial relationship between Melda and Yamamoto - parfait moment included - was a nice original touch that actually showed how they could evolve the show beyond its original premise. It also probably saved the Yamamoto character from being purely the boring shounen-esque revenge-driven character that she was when she was first introduced.

Seitokai Yakuindomo Butthole 4

This season isn't doing it for me. Every sexual joke feels forced now and aren't particularly hilarious. Either the writing got bad or the formula proved tired after 1 seasons (and an unofficial second OVA season)

Well, not for nothing, but they aren't even "adapting" (and I say that since they are adding much more to the source material) the chapters in order. Those chapter numbers they give during the next episode teasers do correspond to the chapters they are adapting.

I'm sorry, I believe the term is "ahoge". You're awfully close to confusing it with "ahegao", which may sound similar, but means something very, very different.
Oh yes. lol

I blame #animegaf!

I don't know if adapting chapters in order would really matter here since it's basically a skit show. I mean the only underlying plot they could develop is the tiny tiny nanosized romance between the prez and the protag.

Unless you mentioned it due to me saying it got old. In which case I said it in the sense of a fad.

For an episode that is half recap, they sure loved to cram in as many key terms as possible near the end. So the stuff mentioned were
Human Instrumentality, Seele, Adam Project, Lance of Longinus, and the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Well I sure hope they get cleared up eventually.

Well, more to your point that the writing might have gotten worse.

This show basically is the girls being perverted in their very particular ways now. It's the equivalent of Sheldon Cooper saying "Bazinga" at this point. lol

Another enjoyable episode. The case was pretty self-contained but it was funny and rather liked it from beginning to end.

The whole glimpse of Yoto's true form was pretty interesting as well.

Don't even remind me about the spiraling down of Big Bang Theory of what it could have been. If it wasn't for the IT Crowd I wouldn't even have a proper recommendation for people when they want to watch a geek sitcom made for geeks

For me the jokes are still working and it's a decent change of pace.
It's incredible how they manage to find so much stupid words jokes that actually only work properly in japanese.

oh and there was some trivia i didn't need too :

But IT Crowd's last season was also pretty weak. :< I guess it's just not destined to be.
