Onee chan Ga Kita 6

A show about siblings having complexes for each other that hasn't gone to lewd incestuous humor. This episode, like all of them, was cute. The older sister's never ending triangle mouth shall prevail.

Silly Setsuna, don't you know that the love and kindness of Jesus Christ mahou shoujo protags are boundless and unconditional?

Seraphis Cain has wanted me to watch this one, and since it's half-length, using it as a breather in my backlog was a good idea. This feels like a show from a different era. A Shaft series produced without Shinbo. I can see some of the animation style that defines them, but it's not nearly as pronounced. It also looks like Reiko Yoshida did the scripts, and I love her work.

The thing I notice the most about it is that, for all the series I've watched, this is one of those that feels more like a drama then what first comes to mind when I think of anime. That's not a bad thing, I'm liking the way it paces itself. There aren't very many anime about voice actors (and I'll watch the other two at some point), so seeing that explored is also pretty good. That the main characters had desperate sex in the first episode and spend the rest of the series dealing with the awkward effects of that is intriguing.

I am liking the Audrey Hepburn references. Anime that's cinematic in the sense of a film school class is fun - it's one of the reasons Sengoku Collection is one of my favorites - and it dawns on me how popular Roman Holiday is, since the aforementioned Collection and Strike Witches 2 also reffed it. Catree is cute, and I liked the moment when Aka had that little girl be a fan of her character.

Cute show.

"Dude, you can't have all three at once!"

"I can, because I'M the King."

Holy crap, Narukami living a sexy sensei moment the entire night.

Took them long enough. Crunchyroll has now added the first season of Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai to their catalog lineup, along with the two OVA episodes for Squid Girl.

http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-838995/

Three more mystery catalog title slots remain.

One slot should be for Seitokai Yakuindomo's first season and hopefully a second slot filled with the Seitokai Yakuindomo OVAs. Third slot would probably be filled with a Nozomi/Lucky Penny title, or some other licensed series from another R1 company.

Inari Konkon Koi Iroha 5

Uka-sama
please stop dying ;_; It's also about time someone else knew what's the deal with Inari, should make things interesting.
As far as the drama for this episode, it's pretty eh, felt like the characters acting overly emotional and the drama was too contrived, but Inari's many weird and funny faces saved the episode.

Hourou Musuko 1 - 11

Show I missed from 2011. Deals with themes of gender identity from the perspective of a middle schooler yet to reach puberty. I always find this subject interesting in fiction (or otherwise I guess) and I found this to be a smart short tale with realistic, likable characters, great visuals and sound.

Worthy of your time I'd say.

Soooooooooooooooo I have some words on this one.

On the one hand,
the heretofore sweet Shion has been completely exposed as just as sick as every other character on this show who is not the detective or Ooishi,
but on the OTHER hand,
frankly I'm still rooting for Shion. I mean yeah, she beat the SHIT out of Satoko for no fucking reason at all, but that's really the only thing she's done wrong. She's tried to strangle Mion once, and if she'd succeeded in killing Mion, a LOT of things would be MUCH better for her, because as sweet and innocent as Mion pretends she is, I'm already damn certain that Mion isn't. Demonic possession or not, Mion is possibly one of the most evil people in town. And her grand mother? The woman who wanted to strangle Shion when she was little, has hated her her entire life and may or may not be the one responsible for Oyashiro-Sama's curse? That bitch NEEDED to die. Like Shion, the one regret I have is that Demon Granny didn't SUFFER before she died. Killing Mion is STILL the best thing Shion can do. It's a given she's not getting out of this alive, and Keiichi isn't either, but AT LEAST somebody who deserved to die actually is this time around.

It's all starting to come together, except, of course, one very, very important piece of information:

What the fuck is the deal with Rena?

You might change your mind on certain people before this arc is over.

I'm a bit on the extremely conservative but tolerant side when it comes to 'gender identity' aspects. I was a bit uncomfortable when it came up in a certain game that rhymes with
Schemrsona Schmor
, so I don't know if I'll be able to hand a show based off this topic. But I'll at least read on it.

Not as shoujo as the first one.

But, uh, these are basically 2 minutes ads for the manga. Though I guess you can call them episodes since stuff happens.

Up to this point, this show is just FUN. All star cast that doesn't take it self too serious with lots of in the cheek humor. If Mizushima actually keeps this up, I think it'll be my anime of this season. I absolutely look forward to the next episode every week.

Did you watch this on Crunchyroll? If so, you should know that there are actually 12 episodes and that you should try to find the full versions of episode 10 and 11. In fact, I think the as-aired version of the show butchers it way too much.

It's not even an issue in that game, to the point where I find people who insist on that character suffering from gender dysphoria to be projecting themselves onto the game. The same with the socalled "gay" character. I still disagree with shidoshi about the game anyway. lol

That said, I'm not sure what it means to be conservative and tolerant, but if that game bothered you, then a show that actually tackles the issue by having a character who is living her life as a woman, let alone Nitorin and his issues, is probably beyond the pale?

Yeah, it's too bad. :(

I'm missing some classic shoujo. Well, ideally I'd like something that is like Golden Time but without the histrionics, but unless Noitamina gets back to money losing shows, that'll never happen ever again.

AnoHana again
So I thought I'd check back over some episodes to see if they cleaned some things up - most notably, the movie has big Pepsi product placement and I guess I wasn't surprised when I saw the equivalent in the anime:
xLDjO8El.jpg

That said, it's clear they touched up, if not redrew, all the older scenes because they fixed it so that the labels were much more clear (the CC Lemon label specifically) along with making Menma's face less derpy in this shot.

Also, they actually made the Secret Base moment better by removing some of Menma's exposition and using flashbacks instead. The movie has a nice cross-cut into this scene from the television show:
To58zzal.jpg

And it's stronger for it. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's clear that when Okada is working with a source text - even if it's her own damn work - she is perfectly fine as a writer. One might even consider her "good". Of course, maybe it's an issue with the budget and being able to totally animate a new scene for the sake of a movie, but even the climatic sappy moment was made sappier but much more impactful in the movie version.

Maybe the whole crew should just stick to movies. lol

So basically, she's better if she can do some revisions.

The lesson here is, you're allowed to slack off and trespass and other shit as long as you're thinking of your friends first. Or whatever.

Pretty cool that there's an eccentric scientist witch who invents new magic stuff, some wackier than others. I hope they have to become guinea pigs for her again at some point. That was pretty funny.

Is that the same character?

Nope. The first one lives in the shadow of her older sister and the other one may or may not end up dating her brother?

It is kinda weird we're not getting some classic shoujos. With the bishie sparkles and everything being some shade of yellow and gold.

Okay Ayaka is definitely my waifu and Husbando.
Really enjoying this show but wish it was more than 12 episodes because it feels like the end will probably be rushed.

I don't know if it's revisions per se, since I assume that she doesn't just crap out a draft and submit that as a final script.

I wonder if it's because of Free and Kuroko and the fact that girls that watch anime will only buy terrible yaoi-bait instead of terrible wishfulfillment fantasies. lol

It made me a bit uncomfortable, but it was only a bit of
cross-dressing
so it didn't make me as uncomfortable as say an actual transgender individual would. As open minded as I am about rights, it doesn't change the fact I was raised hyper catholic and have always lived with conservatives. Not used to it.

Well, that's fair enough. I will say, Wandering Son is not didactic about its main issue - to the point where some people felt betrayed by the final arc of the manga - but it is also unapologetic about it.

I would say it's like the trans character on Glee, except not trapped in a shitty show written by a shitty showrunner.

Don't worry, Ao Haru Ride anime adaptation will be super popular and cause a revival of shoujo anime genre. The wish fulfilment aspect of it is off the charts.

Gintama 79

Strategic asswiping. STRATEGIC ASSWIPING! MIND GAMES TO SEE WHO WILL WIPE THEIR ASS FIRST! And that explosive ending! I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS KIND OF STRATEGY SINCE THE SUKIYAKI EPISODE

The idea that it was a four way match to see who would wipe their ass is just....

just...

*Nods in approval.

Such a simple problem everyone can relate to.
Except gintama made it even more intresting This is another "legendary episode"
Savor it ..i wish i could forget and rewatch those again..

It feels like Kimi ni Todoke did something, but that sort of fluttered out with all the shitty reverse harem adaptations we got last year.

The thing that bugged me for a while that AnimeGaf might be inclined to be informed about.

Why is France out of all countries have such a large following of Japanese products like Manga,JPRGs,Anime and stuff?

I mean they're right next to England.

Last good shoujo I watched.... shit. I mean I'm enjoying Golden Time sans ghostbusters, so I guess that's good enough. And no reverse harem.

Just the regular tropes of hyper drama and love triangles. The day anime gives me a sweet show about a couple in love going through realistic issues it's the day I turn into a pig and get into a plane.
