Did you even see the godly stroyboarding duuuuuude

I mean you guys could have at least mentioned how the entire first half of the episode is worthless and should be skipped, sure the second half is well made but that doesn't really change the actual content.

The entire episode was well made. If you don't like it, that's fine. No one here posts impressions for your benefit taking into account your tastes. Go cry on some other pedestal instead of whining about how you tried jumping on a bandwagon and fell on your face instead because it moved on without you. No one cares!

One Piece 635

Hell, yes.

Bart finally makes his full appearance.

He's one of the few good things about the Colosseum parts.

Anime is really making me love that Sanji x Violet pairing.

So I'm looking to watch something good. Anything from this season worth checking out? Things I'm not in the mood for: lolis, mechas, risque scenes, senseless comedy. Things I'm in the mood for: Sensible sci-fi, decent shounen with at least a half-decent plot, good cast with plenty of characters.

I was looking at Noragami. Maybe that? I tried Log Horizon but it got way too generic 4 episodes in, and the plot was too inconsequential. Does anything of relevance ever happen in that show? Also I'm not sure if I should check out Space Dandy.

What say you, GAF?

Hamatora offers both great plot and an excellent cast.

The Light of El Cantare
Are you referring to my post about :madp?

I don't remember which show it was about now but recall him mentioning that it was too bad that more shows didn't have characters with coloured eyelashes as he liked them. I didn't really pay conscious attention to that type of thing before but that comment made me try and note now when I saw it.

I've actually come to like it myself now and madp even made another post at one point as kind of a reminder that if anyone sees it could they give him notice about it. Recently a few times I had and while I wasn't sure if he would like the show or not, I thought I'd post to tell him about it.

As far as liking exposed midriff, I don't remember how much he's posted about it but just remember him saying that he liked Kasumi/Misty's design from Pokemon with the short top and suspenders and that she was his first,or one of his first, anime crushes. When Gargantia was airing someone posted a gif from the scene of Amy dancing in an Arabic type bikini outfit and he posted a response something like "arfgnrf! My weakness.",haha. Regulus the one time posted a picture of a girl with exposed midriff. It actually might have been Rei from Sailor Moon and her outfit where she's got the shorter red top and black pants if you remember that one. Anyway, they both seemed to get a bit :firehawk about it commenting that girls don't seem to wear outfits like that as much and they miss the 90's fashion or something, haha.

Frighteningly right on all counts. Somehow, Nafe, I can only guess that your fetish is knowing what everyone's fetishes are.

Now if only Regulus would come back so we could have more misty-eyed conversations on all of the hot 90s fashion in Sailor Moon.

I'd have to think but Blazblue has it as well, although I think you took a look at that and didn't like it anyway due to it looking pretty low budget oftentimes.

Hattori mentioned Deadman Wonderland if you missed that. Shiro is pretty fun. Kind of your typical genki Kana Hanazawa character. I'm not sure if you would like the show though given your tastes. It's something where you might want to look at it like more of a list candidate type show or not over-analyze its over-the-top nature. It's ultimately up to you though.

Shiro in Deadman Wonderland kills me but, yeah, just like Blazblue I thought it was a trainwreck. I remember you kindly pointing out to me that the characters in Yuushibu also had colored eyelashes, but I might have lasted five minutes. Clearly, I still have limits even when I'm being pandered to.

Phi Brain S3 ep. 22

Oh god, that endcard... that's just cruel.

Noragami ep.9

So I guess now that
Yato and Yukine have more or less made up, they can now fight effectively as a team against the anime-original character for the final battle
.

The things I am reading here, sort of makes me feel glad that I'm not quite as exposed as I believe.

Noragami is enjoyable, but it isn't all that great if you're in the mood for something specific, it's more of a show to watch on a weekly basis amidst other shows. Not sure what all you've seen but if you want a good shonen give a chance to Hunter x Hunter the 2011 version. It's all up on Crunchyroll. I'd suggest watching Gintama as well but I don't know what stands for 'senseless comedy' to you so I won't do that. Somebody else suggested Hamatora, but it also has been a bit above 'just ok'. I personally wouldn't recommend it.

As to sci-fi, Space Dandy is all over the place quality-wise and it's mostly 'senseless' comedy, so it wouldn't be for you. If it doesn't have to be of this season let us know as then there are more options.

edit: as to your question of Log Horizon, the show is decent at first but doesn't get good until the cast is expanded and they start to get into the economics of the world and why Shiro is as smart as he is. Which doesn't happen till after the rescue arc. The show shines in its way of interpreting how humans would take over this foreign world and breath modern touches to it. Keep watching if you can, there's a reason it's an AnimeGAF favorite.

The World God Only Knows: Goddesses 12

Damn.

I liked this much better than the first and second season. There were actually some proper story this time other than just to conquer girls. Keima even showed some emotions this time and that was good.

Less of the weird comedy I didn't like (except for that part in episode 9) while still retaining the style of comedy I like. Didn't like how Elsie was made an unimportant joke character though.

Overall I give it 4/5 Elsies in disguise:

And a list:
Chihiro > Ayumi > Shiori > Haqua > Kanon > Tenri > Elsie > Nora > Tsukiyo > Yui

HEY! I try to make it an art form by being subtle enough to not be picked up on the radar by the less knowing!

I take great pride in my porn reviews, thank you very much.

I tried to do your thing and a while back and tried to do this one (who's name I can't remember) that was a dark in it's initial presentation, but that basically, somehow, devolved into horrible pedo incest BDSM and I just went "NOPE NOPE NOPE GET THIS OFF MY SCREEN. Getting the fuck away from this shit, asap."

My issue with Chihiro is that she treated the guy like crap the whole time even though she has self-hating issue, then all of a sudden he's supposed to care about her.

Nobunagun 9

Way too much ShioxJack shipping in my ShioxAsao-san episode ò_ó

Still good stuff aside from that though. The sheer joy on Shio's face when she met Asao-san again was wonderful <3

I think I strangely know a manga that was somewhat like this. It was rather insane with the "interests" it was doing, and as disturbing as it was, I was captivated to see just how far the rabbit hole went.

Unfortunately, after finishing the arc with the Lemonade Stand girl, it became a lot more tame. Kind of disappointing seeing that, but hey.

Try Silver Spoon.

There's a certain trope in anime that makes me cringe a lot. The one where a character starts singing really loud for no reason. Nobody does that. I don't go out with a friend and look at a horizon and start singing my heart out.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.

I bet you hate Disney too.

I bet you hate Disney too.

That sounds more like Disney thing than anime.

But Disney things I watch are established to be musicals or are done for comedic effect. In anime on the other hand it just seems jarring to have a character randomly go look at a sunset and start singing her heart out with no musical accompaniment or no point to it besides "look I'm singing to fill in some minutes". It didn't bother me terribly much in Star Driver because it happened every episode and whenever one of the maidens started singing it usually signified the beginning of a battle and it transitioned into a full song.

Having said that

Nobunaga Za Fool 8

This show is starting to lose its appeal for me. It hasn't turned back, but it refuses to keep going more full retard, so now it's like "god dammit stop taking yourself seriously"

Maybe saying 'trope' was a bit too much, but it certainly has happened in anime I watch. I mention it too because I got reminded of what my friend said last time, coincidentally, after watching Frozen (though he specified he didn't mind it in Frozen since it was a musical for the most part). Recent example is Nobunaga the Fool. The sister just walks out of the house, starts singing, then that's her role for the episode. Besides that one I couldn't pinpoint specific shows unless I went back through the list of things I've seen and remembered.

It's just a thing that bothers me, and at least with the western media I watch for the most part it's not an issue. But I am much pickier with the movies/tv shows I watch from the west than with anime. It doesn't help that I think anime just wants to rub idol culture into my face, so I imagine they find an idol and tell her 'please sing!'
