Witcher 3 gameplay from YouTubers from CDPR event

So I purchased all the books from amazon (that are available on the kindle app) what is the order I should read this in before the game comes out?

It could be a tradeoff. In Witcher 2 you couldn't even drink in middle of a fight. Now, you can, but in exchange maybe you should use up 1 second animation (so retreat a bit before drinking one).

Eh, don't be so dismissive. If done right, a drinking animation can add to the depth of the combat system. Just look at Souls.

I dont mean to be dismissive. To each their own.

It's a trade-off, right? They are really pushing for the fluid combat with little to no stopping. It was interesting seeing him take on the bandit camp under different builds. It does make since as a trade off but I think CDPR are thinking the toxicity is the draw back to using potions. Either way, I am digging the combat this game is showing.

Picked it up on PC thanks to that GMG price, 35% off is great. Hopefully they get the keys out early enough to take advantage of the pre load once it goes live.

PS4 footage soon, on May 19th,on your own PS4...
There has to be something they're crunching on to get it into the console versions in time. Only reasonable explaination at this point. Just showing either console version goes a long way since they'll likely only have the resolution differences.

This game isn't meant to give you the same kind of experience as Souls games do. This is all flippy flippy dodgy dodgy hack and slash. Popping potions out of thin air like it's Diablo :P

Considering how obvious effect that is, trees and such disappearing from edges of screen, it's intended function in order to increase visibility player has to his surroundings. imo that is very good solution as I don't want some bush filling my screen when drowner is humping my leg.

I don't really like it, but with foliage this dense I guess it's probably the best solution. As you mentioned, they don't want your view to be covered up by foliage.

Yup. Even if they really have nothing to hide, for a developer that prides itself on being so transparent, they've handled this so fucking badly. Especially considering the fact that the press were able to try the PS4 and Xbox One versions months ago.

They know the current climate, and know that given the amount of times consumers have been burned this generation, simply taking their word for it based off of Twitter and forum posts isn't enough. We're paying for a product, we need to know what we're getting.

I'm really hyped for the game, but this just sours things a bit.

It's all compounded by the fact they have a gun to your head telling you to hit that preorder button yeah? The fact that reviews come a week ahead of release and not 2 weeks show's that they definitely have something to hide.

Do some of you even hear yourselves?

People just want to see their version of the game, man. It's pretty understandable.

The impatient whining is not that understandable. Sure, CDP could have handled it better and just released something, but the absolute worst case is that we'll see the console versions next week in the reviews.

I get it, but to say that a company that has been as transparent in the past as they have been/are has something to hide, it comes across as whiny and entitled. There is Xbone footage out there. It's old, but it's there and it looked great. The fact that they are having reviews drop a week prior(so no one has to feel obligated to pre-order) say's a lot about the confidence they have in the game. Now if all reviews were PC code only, I'd be concerned then, but they won't be, it'll most likely be a mix of PS4 and PC footage that we'll see on review videos and that's fine. I get people are excited for TW3, but as a long-time fan of the series it bugs the hell out of me to hear people talk about CDPR as they are some of the finest, hard working RPG makers around and they've only improved with each game and aren't some back-stabbers looking to steal money from their customers.

Im expecting footage really soon... Could be possible for people to get the game early.
Not uncommon to get a game 1-2 weeks early.

They keep saying it's coming but it hasn't turned up yet. CDPR doesn't have the reputation with console gamers that they do with the PC crowd and they've never released a game on multiple platforms at one time before and this is a game many have been adament would not run well on consoles. We just want something.

The hairworks on the monsters is looking so awesome.

Thank you both. Sword of destiny comes out same day as witcher 3 here in the US? interesting

So strange they waited until then to release it instead of putting it out a month or so ahead of the game for people hyped on it.

I ended up reading the fan translation, which was pretty good. Working my way through the books now and I'm on Baptism of Fire. Time of Contempt is probably my favorite so far followed by Sword of Destiny.

I really suggest to everyone to read these books. They're really good.

Also, to add to the list:

Last Wish
Sword of Destiny
Blood of Elves
Time of Contempt
Baptism of Fire

The Tower of the Swallow & The Lady of the Lake come after those (in that order). They won't be translated until 2016 and 2017 I guess. I'm going to read the fan translations of those, too.

Some people got to buy Bloodborne at least 10 days before the official day one.
It happens.

retail store manager here. yep, got my hands on Bloodborne 7 days before release. Same here with Order 1886. That's from recent times only. But for us in Russia it all comes down to when they ship the game in stores.

That said, I'm not too worried. They did a stellar job with the Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 considering the technical constraints. I played it on PC mainly but I was pleasantly surprised with the two hours spent on console with it. Certainly not a dumbed down experience.

where would I find the fan translations?

Actually, apparently this guy on reddit did a big edit to those translations for Lady of the Lake and Tower of the Swallow that I think people really liked. I haven't had a chance to get to those yet, though.

I personally read the translation from that link for Sword of Destiny. It's pretty good. Only annoying thing was 1 or 2 of the short stories referred to Dandelion as Jaskier. Other than that it was pretty good.
