With hints of other GTAV SKUs, will you be strong enough to wait?

I will probably end up just doubling up like I did with all the other GTAs in one way or another. I buy the original one for full price, and like last gen, I bought GTAIV on computer for like $5 which was basically totally worth it.

i might be one of the few guys. but i am usually a huge supporter for big games that made the developers work for years to get this huge game out. and it cost them alot. its part of me that makes me want to support them. so i am buying this on PS3 and i am going to buy this on PS4 day one as well. just like i did with shenmue on DC and Xbox.

it also happens that i love GTA games. i just do not finish them for some reason. as i lose intrest in the story and become weird with trying to hit people and then let the cops follow me till i get busted lol

For me?

Definitely. But i've never been a huge GTA fan, so getting it day 1 is of no importance for me.

Would rather play a PC or PS4 version, whichever comes first.

Based on my experiences with previous Rockstar titles no. I will buy it twice, probably thrice and play the living hell out of each version. This will easily keep me occupied until next gen titles start coming out and beyond. And I like discovering all the secrets and nuances in the game with the community as the game is new. Plus my PC tends to be a game archive, so I will buy it now, ps4 at full price most likely and then on steam for cheap. 130 bucks is well worth the enjoyment I get to me.

Nope. I'll double dip, but only if i decide its worth it. Incentives will get me to buy it again.

I don't know if I can even wait for my copy to ship. : /

What I don't get is why they are releasing the game without the online component part of it? It's obvious that the eventual Xbox one and PS4 versions will have the SP and online part on disc when it releases, also it will be worth the worth with the extra graphical enhancements.

Not waiting; there's something about playing the game with the initial hype along with everyone else.

It always seems to be missing when I wait to save a few bucks or to get the game of the year edition.....not this time!

I canceled my preorder. I was planning on adding it to my backlog anyway, so I figure I can wait a few months for the version I want (PS4).

My waiting is based - in addition to getting it on Wii U - my dissapoitment with few previous Rockstar titles which have all taken a turn to the worst in the last few hours of the game. Red Dead Redemption was truly excellent before Mexico and before the double-triple ending. L.A. Noire - while not developed by Rockstar - went to hell in the end game while switching protagonist. GTA IV just went on and on.

The problem is - as I see it - that in my opinion Rockstar games don't get the same critical treatment as other many other games. The reviews don't bring up the claring mistakes and problems until years after like it's happening with GTA IV. It's just "masterpiece", "sensational" and all that.

I just laugh at these people that want to wait to play this game. Like better graphics is going to make it a better game... The best experience is being part of the release and playing with friends that are all experiencing the world for the first time, too.

I guess I understand why you would want to, PC elitist are like that, but to me- it's just crazy talk. There's no way I would miss a GTA launch.

Also, if I were mainly a PC gamer, there are many games I would wait on, because they don't deliver the same experience a GTA would. I would wait for those games. But I don't care what system GTA is on, if its coming out, I'm playing it ASAP.

I'm gonna wait for Oct 1st so that

1) GTA:O launches and is properly reviewed
2) some of the hype can die down.

If the hype is still high and GTA:O is as awesome as it seems, I'll get it. If the hype is way died down and GTA:O not that well received, I'll wait for a steam version with mods and everything. Maybe even wait for a steam sale.

I'm waiting for either the PC or PS4 version. Which one I choose will depend on how great the PS4 actually turns out to be.

Hasn't been hard to wait but I also thought GTA 4 was great but not mind blowing. I don't think GTA 5 will be as amazing as everyone makes it out to be but just slightly better than GTA 4 was at it's release but now.

I remember the GTA 4 launch quite well. Similar hype all around the net, well received at first and then quickly hated on. I see GTA 5 having the same course. After all the dust settles it's a great game but not worth the massive fuss.

I only play Dota 2 on my PC. Plus I'm keeping my 360 around just for GTA5. Then gunna buy a PS4 when that comes out. Will buy an Xbone during its last years.

It's definitely tempting to grab it tonight but I'll wait.

My last GTA experience was with 4 - Games for Windows Live lost my 30hr save....

It's a shame because I have the physical version of GTA4 and it's such a nice package. Rockstar games are some of the few left that actually reward you for purchasing a physical copy i.e. glossy manual, maps and radio guide or whatever.

360 Day One. Then on PC day One. With my 680 I should be able to put a 70+ mods and still maintain a good framerate. As long as it's optimized. MP3 ran like a dream on PC, I hope the eventual PC release of V is the same.

Replaying an technically flawed console game months later in all its glory on PC is almost as good as day 1 PC. I'll double dip any day if the game's good enough.

Nope. Well, technically I am waiting because Amazon hasn't posted my order and I won't receive it until several days after release.

In terms of the game, I've ordered the 360 version, and as long as it's playable (frame rate 20s-30s), that's good enough for me. It's not a super technical fighter or anything requiring precision input. Assassin's Creed 3 annoyed me on consoles because it ruined the parkour, for example, but I found Tomb Raider to be enjoyable, wonky frame rate and all.

Obviously my PC or the next gen consoles would offer up a smoother experience, but there's no way I'll double-dip - until it's on sale, at least - because I will definitely be burned out on GTA V long before then.

If I were a real GTA fanatic, I might consider waiting for the superior version. We've all been spoiled by the 60fps a decent pc can offer over these old boxes of crap. However, San Andreas on PS2 was still awesome, in spite of the frame rate. Therefore, 360 GTA V it is.

fuck double dipping. I would wait if they announce a next gen version before GTA5 launches but if they don't i will shit in the 360 versions case and ship it to rockstars front door.

Since the PC release was inevitable, I was already planning on waiting for that one. It's not like I'm not swimming in other games to play anyway.

If this game is a good as its predecessor, I'll probably buy it 3 times. I've alread bought my PS3 copy, I'll get the PC (maybe not day one, probably at the first steam sale, but it will depend how well it will run on my PC), and I'll probably buy a PS4 or Xbox One version too whenever I'll have a next gen console.

Strong enough to hold off and deal with all the spoilers and all the memes and all the Clowns/10s, and all the excruciating paaaain?

No, I'll just buy it again. If Rockstar is nice, they'll let me upgrade my copy for cheaper.

I'm going to a midnight launch because I can't even wait for the normal shop opening hours. Fuck waiting another 6-12 months!

I'll end up buying it on PC / PS4 when they come out, but fuck waiting. I want to play it as soon as I can.

This will be one my last PS3 retail games (next is Puppeteer and Ni No Kuni and Beyond) and I already have physical copies of GTA 3 and 4... Gotta complete the collection?

It's just another open world game. I doubt it's anything revolutionary so yes I am able to wait for the PC version.

Thank you for enabling publishers to continue with this behavior.

His sentiment is what I dislike about gamers. Rockstar is purposely holding back one version of the game to make people buy it more than once. I hate such tactics and I dislike it when people willingly give in to this crap.

Well, it's the difference between playing the game at a juddery 20-30fps and at 60fps.
