With Quantum Break going PC who is ditching the X1 in favor of a new rig?

Well, I'm not exactly ditching the X1, but I had always planned on getting one eventually.

With Crackdown and Scalebound on the way and the console price going lower and lower, the time would come when there's too many good games on it for me to pass up.

Now, with GOW4, Scalebound and QB going to PC, I'm much more likely to forego getting an Xbone and just play those games on PC. I was planning to build a PC this year anyway.

I think the long-term effects of this decision are much greater than some people here are saying. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that had planned on getting one eventually but is dissuaded by this move.

There's very few reasons left to get an X1 now.

Each to their own - personally I see plenty.

My shit can't even run QB on PC. Them specs goddamn.

I'm not ditching a console I spent money on, nah. QB on W10 is free anyway for me so why ditch it.

You also gotta consider that for enthusiast PC gamers the idea of playing uneditable games on a shitty store interface instead of like, Steam isn't really worth the investment.

I think it's best to wait for benchmarks and see how it performs we don't do what "Recommend" and "Minimum" qualify to.

@OP I don't have an XB1 yet but there are two games so far that I want and would buy an XB1 for which are GOW4 and Scalebound. GOW4 has a high chance of coming, Scalebound we should see but with gamespot either jumping the gun or misspeaking about these coming to PC gives me some hope.

But those are the only two games I see myself getting because of the limitations of the Win store.

I did it last year. Ditched it and built myself a PC.

But mine was more to do with Halo going down the toilet than QB being multiplatform. I always figured most X1 exclusives would end up on the PC so the only one making me hold on to the console was the one franchise that wouldnt (Halo). I thought when I sold it I would regret it whenever a new Halo comes around but nothing so far.

For just one game? Not likely. I play too much Halo 5 to ever thinking about ditching my XB1.

I think we can see the writing on the wall here.
It's not going to be just one game

Um, I'll pass. Friends, history, ecosystem, library... No reason to get rid of it.

Friends is huge. All of my social gaming group that used to be 360 owners switched to PS4 so I'm not losing anything by dropping the X1

Keeping XB1 for now. Building new PC in a while and will play my cross buy games again. Since I buy games digital I will have them on PC anyway. This is just lovely. This is going to be great for Xbox in the long run.

As much as I prefer gaming on a console, if I knew things were going to play out like this I would have built a dedicated gaming PC instead. I won't be selling my console though. I'm in too deep at this point.

I have been eyeing an xbone for a few games but 3 of them got announced for PC today (according to gamespot) so I'm with you, Bruce.

I must admit I'm tempted...especially as my PC is plugged to the TV. Still Crackdown 3 and Forza Horizon 3...but is it worth keeping the Xbox for maybe just two games?

my "rig" has a xbox one built in

Well, that depends. In the context of what I said before the bolded, there isn't, looking ahead.

There's a couple of already released games I'd like to play that aren't scheduled for PC
*yet*
, like Rare Replay. That value remains, for now.

Why does it matter? Because many of us DON'T have a gaming PC and prefer consoles. Furthermore, the thread is asking if you will ditch your Xbox One in order to build a rig. I simply do not see the point in doing that, as the games that you bought your Xbox One for are still console exclusive just as they were. But if you already have a good rig and would rather play here, then great. Now you can.

Not, "will you be ditching the X1 to get a new PC"

You're also not really explaining how console exclusivity should matters to those of us that are multi-platform owners. It is not a value consideration of any form unless you have something like Tomb Raider with timed exclusivity.

edit: Cross-buy does help though.

My PC always was my primary gaming platform this generation. Although I have an Xbox One I've only used it for exclusives (MCC, GOWUE), multiplayer shooters for XBL and controller support (Battlefront), and Games/Deals with Gold stuff.

It's bad enough that the only thing I get to do with my Xbox One is update it, since the updates are so large and frequent and I turn it on so infrequently, so now I'm wondering what use I'll have for it at all, besides an app box for video streaming.

LOL! Hell no. I love consoles for the simplicity of it. Not ditching my console at all for a PC. The more options MS gives us is amazing for us consumers.

Rejoice...They are killing it!

Naaa.. I still like my Xbox One. Not everything is going to come to the pc and I have a huge friends list with a large number who don't own a gaming pc and never will.

That said, for cross platform, I will get the pc version over the Xbox One version.

As for upgrading my pc, yeah I really need to. My current pc is over 5 years old and while it runs everything "well enough" its starting to show its age. Choosing console or PC was never an issue. Why not both? Actually most of the time its "Why not all?" for me because I own multiple current consoles at a time while also having a gaming pc.

I do plan on upgrading my PC some time before the years out, but will absolutely still be keeping my Xbox One hooked up to the main living room TV (as opposed to the PC which is upstairs in the spare room)

i don't believe in getting rid of consoles but if it was this obvious that all those exclusive were going to come to pc i would have never bought one in the first place.

Not basing console purchases on one or two games serves me well in situations like this. It keeps me from considering jumping ship, selling and rebuying consoles multiple times, and spending more on a pc that can run it better.

And after all that effort, any game will have a lot to live up to to be worth it.

If this is going to be their strategy going forward, lots of people will be unhappy and will question their purchase.

This.

My annoyance comes from the fact that if I'd have known I would have resisted the urge to get one for Forza and would have put the money towards getting a wheel setup for the PC/PS4. It's not like the mainline Forza games have set the house on fire this gen either and playing with a pad sucks anyway.

I thought about upgrading my PC recently. I currently own a PC and a Xbox One and just the GPU alone on the PC would cost as much as the Xbox One. So no thanks, I am fine with sticking with my Xbox One.

Maybe my tax return will change my mind but if I am already capable of playing a game on hardware such as the Xbox One then I don't see the reason to spend more to play on the PC.

I'll wait and see how the PC port is, but assuming it's half decent there won't even be a question.

If this whole movement of Xbone exclusives (Gears, Scalebound, potentially more) coming to PC is a real thing, my Xbone will have lost a LOT of its worth.

Looking at the specs for QB, hell no. Plus, it's always good to have options. I like to play in front of my couch. If my fiancé wants to watch TV, she can and I can go onto my PC (after I do a huge upgrade) and continue playing the game. I'm definitely going to stay in the MS ecosystem with those type of options. It's basically having a lower end gaming only PC in the living room (with cool Kinect features for TV). I'm down with that (especially when I buy a 70-80 inch TV).

My PC is a Surface 3, and I don't plan on ever going back to desktop PCs, so no.

Besides that, the console still has some exclusives that I enjoy playing. I'm also hoping that all the 360 games I care about get the BC treatment, so that I can finally sell off my 360.

It's probably going to be a short ass game with no replayability going by Remedy's track record. Selling my xb1 and buying a new PC for a game I would finish in a couple of days doesn't sound like a good investment. Plus Quantum Break wasn't even in my list of xb1 games I must have back when I decided to get the system.

Are you ok? Do you want us to call for a doctor?

Actually, I their quotes make me wonder...
Legit question:
Was there a similar "Who's ditching their PS4 for a new rig now that SFV is coming to PC?" thread?

Edit: I did a quick search, but I don't see anything... Granted I'm on my phone. Will use laptop and do a more thorough search later...

Well not really.

However I am finding less and less reason to turn on my XBO these days.

Multiplatform multiplayer games I buy on PS4 because thats where everyone is.

Multiplatform SP games I buy on PC because 4K.

PS4 Exclusives I get there.

And most of my XBO games and future XBO games have been replaced by PC. (Double dipped).

Ryse, Titanfall, Gears, Quantum Break...etc

It really has become a Halo machine for me. (Make a Reach Remaster Damnit!)

Most people who buy the Xbox One do so because they prefer consoles. Nothing has changed for them and most are not going to throw away their Xbox One so they can build or buy a new PC. But for those who prefer to play on PC, they just gained some great games. That is all it is and that is my only point.

Laughing at everyone that is still taking those system requirements at face value. No one even knows what the fuck kind of performance or settings to expect QB to run at with those "recommended" specs.

And nobody really knows what the game will look like or what kind of visual features will accompany the game on PC.

There's still some good games out and more coming that are not announced for PC + backwards compatibility is turning out to be pretty decent despite some technical issues, so the One is still a worthwhile machine to me. PC is of course much better IMO, but that's no reason not to make room for both :)

Moot for me as I've never been interested in pc gaming.

As someone who just built a new PC it's great that these titles are coming but my Xbox is indeed getting less and less use (not that I used it a ton to begin with). But I mean more platforms means more choices which is a good thing.

I made a rule this gen that I wouldn't sell any of my consoles, though. I'll keep my X1 because I'm sure there will still be a few games I can only play on it

I learned to never sell a console a while back. So even though I'm not really playing my XB1 or PS4 much at the moment and won't be until at least April when Uncharted 4 comes out I'll be keeping them around. I can watch Netflix and YouTube on them.
