With Quantum Break going PC who is ditching the X1 in favor of a new rig?

Even if QB is a "Windows 10 exclusive" is there a way to play it through Steam? Also, what's so bad about Windows 10? No mod support?

As you can tell, I'm not a PC person (yet), but this has gotten me more interested.

i could be wrong but i think you just have to buy it from there store then you can link it to steam and have it launch through there

Replies in this very thread are the reason why MS can and cannot support the PC. There are people who would have never bought and Xbox because warrior reasons and are super delighted(lol). Then there are the PC only gamers who are genuinely happy to have more MS games.

At this point 90% of MS games are going to PC. If people are really happy about PC ports. Then people really should be asking why Sony can't and won't do the same for their exclusives.

Well, I also own a PS4 and would be equally delighted if Sony also made this move. Because I would still be getting the games I bought my PS4 for all the same. I still prefer consoles and nothing would change that.

I read the first page and expected the requirements to be insane. The requirements and recommended didn't seem like anything I'd need to spend a crazy amount of money on. The potato can run this game, and that's what, $350 - $400?

I wasn't interested in Quantum Break before, but I can run it on my 3 year old PC like every game that has been coming out. Though I did upgrade memory and graphics cards, very cheap, but kept my PC and gaming experience performing very well.

Reading through the press release kinda sounds like it'll be exclusive to the Windows Store on Windows 10. We'll have to wait and see though.

Funny, was going to order parts for my first ever gaming PC today. Super duper overwhelmed, even reading through the GAF build a PC thread. But I can doooo eeeiiittt

I thought about getting an XBOX One. But since Quantum Break and Killer Instinct are coming to pc with Gears of War not too far behind , I'm sticking with pc.

QB, ok that would tempt me. Crackdown coming to PC too? That would push me.

If XBO exclusives all start showing up on PC, I would skip getting an XBO and go gaming PC too. I have said BC with XBO makes it a good buy, but XBO exclusives coming to PC...I would just keep my 360.

I need Microsoft to keep 100 during that event on the 25th and just announce the PC versions for everything. Don't wait until E3 or some random time between now and launch. Be straight up and say its Xbox/Win10.

Me, I'm typing this on a machine from 2008 (XP). Really getting ready to upgrade now, so I will be able to experience my favourite strategy games with max. settings + MS 'exclusives'.

To all PC-Gaffers, is 2016 a good year to build a new PC or are bigger technological steps/performance jumps waiting for us in 2017/2018?

The recent slew of MS first party exclusives coming to PC is basically making me regret getting an xbox one. My PC is already easily capable of running games at a better fidelity than xb1/ps4, but the money that went towards getting an XB1 could've been spent getting a better graphics card (which is the only weak aspect of my pc build right now). and I I could've had a really killer rig. sigh...

I already have a PC that will play it better than my XB1. The question is will I buy it at all and now which platform. Assuming it will be on Steam I'd probably wait for <$30 sale. If not on Steam then maybe XB1. I'm not buying anything from a MS PC store.

I don't have much faith in Remedy though, I've never felt any of their games were very good.

I'm not going to ditch my X1, but I'm starting to regret getting it.
I bought the system for QB,phantom dust and sunset overdrive.
QB is coming to PC, Phantom dust got canceled and sunset overdrive is great, but no single game is worth getting a system for.
Rare Replay is a great collection, though, and so is MCC.

I already have a fairly capable PC, but I'm about at the point of upgrading again soon anyway.

For me, I don't think I need a X1 anymore if MS is willing to release their 1st and 2nd party games on PC. If Sony and Nintendo did the same then I wouldn't need their boxes either.

So, I guess I'm ditching plans to get one at this point.

I've been wanting to build a new rig for a while, but it'll probably depend more on new cycles of tech releases than anything else. It does certainly make me consider it though, more so because the consoles are already a little underpowered, the Xbox One especially. This is also why I'd like to know sooner rather than later if Halo 6, Forza Horizon 3 etc will be on PC as well or not.

Sometimes I think people are happier that a platform looses exclusives then actually getting the game on their preferred platform of choice.

Well once Scalebound is confirmed I officially have no reason to get a Xbone now really so I guess I can upgrade my PC sometime in the future instead and be all set. o/
Great day for me I save money and get something on my preferred platform.

More platforms getting the same game is a good thing for everyone. No need to get mad that it's not exclusive anymore or use that to attack the platform that lost the exclusive.

New rig was never in question. This just cement my decision not to buy Xbox One at all - with QB being XBO exclusive I might've caved in at some point to play it and then sell it off.

Now that Quantum Break is coming to PC day one I'm selling my X1 and finally building a new PC. I've wanted an excuse to do so for a long time and MS has finally given it to me. I love Microsofts new strategy and ironically enough when all is said and done I'll probably spend even more money in their new ecosystem. I'm definitely getting the Elite controller as well.

Is this impacting anyone else similarly?
Can I play Halo 5 on PC? No?

xbox one is really worthless at this point. i'd rather get a new rig.

There are PC gamers who still think Bloodborn will eventually come to PC. We are gonna be seeing a lot more of this in the future.

One more reason why a good PC and a PS4 is a great combination in the same way that PC + PS3 was a great combo last generation.

I won't lie, the annoucement of QB coming to PC and rumors of Scalebound and Gears 4 are only making me continue to reget my purchase of the Xbox One... to the point right now where I'm seriously thinking of selling it.

If they port Rare Replay to PC I'm selling it, only reason I still have it right now.

Was there ever any gameplay footage of the game? All I remember were some CG animations. Never even figured out what kind of game is it supposed to be and why is it supposed to be so desirable. I have zero reasons to consider this title at all in my hardware buying decisions.

If the Scalebound info turns out to be true, however...

For publishers and Microsoft game selling.. this is a plus. For the console, if they can turn this into added revenue, and invest in more PC/Xbox games, it's good.

For perception, message boards and lists wars, this is a loss for Xbox. It always had been when some games were released for both, and the more exclusives that go to both, the more people will just act like they all have 1500 dollar PCs and no one needs an Xbox.

At the minimum, everything that's out now will be cheaper when AMD releases new cards later this year, and their new processors will probably be a great value for performance since they don't come with an integrated video chip.

The GPU alone will cost you $650. Have fun building a $1,300-1,500 PC that will play the same game as your $300 Xbox One.*

*This is of course assuming you bought it last holiday season and not at launch like me.

A gtx 760 is a $150 GPU. A build around it will probably cost around $500-700. Could go as low as 400 depending on how you go about it.

Where do people get these ideas about GPU prices?

I game on both and it works well for me. I dont always have access to my big screen as wife/kid watches TV alot. Hope more games are crossbuys tho.

Already had a PC but what this allows me to do is put the $350 i would have put into an xbox into a second 980. VR here I come! Love you so much right now MS!

That "same game" on a $1300 PC will run at 60+ fps with virtually flawless image quality. At a certain point the upgrade really improves the experience.

I was planning on buying Xbox but I will save the money and build a pc next year or 2018 and I will be able to play all those games.

I plan on buying NX also but Xbox never again.

Nah, my Live sub doesn't run out until December, and I still prefer my AAA fps titles on console.

I could just as easily sell the PS4, but then I don't want to miss out on a possible Crash Bandicoot surprise, or God of War 5.

Im on the same boat.

Got The Xbone because their exclusives are way more apealing to me.

If Microsoft decides to bleed their console out of exclusives I wont have many reasons to keep my Xbone.

Glad that other people will be able to play QB now, but on the other hand I have the feeling that this will hurt the Xbox brand (people wanting for QB to get an Xbone have gone full 180 now)

Nope, still getting QB for X1. X1 is still great for other things than game exclusives like 360 BC. I'll get QB on PC when it's on sale like $10.

I have just put the One in the box, I'm not going to sell it because I don't use to do that for anything (and who knows what will happen), but the only game I was planning to use it for in the near future was QB so, now it´s just taking space. Let's see what happens with stuff I'm interested like Crackdown.

Certainly not a stellar run. I should have waited before buying it.
